Chapter 61 Mission

In mid-October, the afternoon sun in New York casts a golden veil over the banks of the Hudson River.

The river water was already icy cold.

Golden sunlight bathed the river's surface, like a false embrace, shimmering gold on the surface but tinged with a chill within.

The private villa stood quietly, the surrounding trees already tinged with a pale golden hue, their leaves swirling and falling in the gentle breeze.

A touch of melancholy mingled with the warm sunlight.

A luxury car slowly pulled up in front of the villa and stopped.

Chu Wuyang stepped out of the car with her chin slightly raised, carrying several shopping bags. A maid came to greet her and offer to help carry the bags, but she politely declined with a smile.

Slowly stepping onto the garden path, Mingxiu also got out of the car and followed closely behind, her face showing anxious joy.

However, he remained composed and did not immediately go to see President Jing, who had already woken up. Instead, he slowly followed behind Chu Wuyang.

Chu Wuyang, walking ahead, was clearly in a relaxed mood. She even paused to admire the vibrant and beautiful flowers as they passed the garden.

Mingxiu, preoccupied with her beloved President Jing, failed to notice Chu Wuyang, who was bending down to pick flowers and blocking her path.

He bumped into Chu Wuyang as they passed each other unexpectedly.

"Oh! I'm so sorry, ma'am."

Mingxiu apologized hastily and helped Chu Wuyang up after she fell to the ground.

"Careful, let me help you up."

Chu Wuyang cried out "Ah!" and fell down again before she could even stand up.

Mingxiu was preoccupied with other things and couldn't concentrate. Furthermore, he was somewhat hesitant to fully engage with Chu Wuyang's hand, and his grip wasn't strong enough.

She didn't catch Chu Wuyang properly and he fell again.

He panicked a little and, without thinking, immediately picked the person up.

The voice was full of apology

"I'm sorry, madam, it was my oversight."

Chu Wuyang lowered her head, fiddling with the wrinkles on her skirt, and said nonchalantly,

"It's alright, if you're in a hurry, go ahead and do what you need to do!"

"Excuse me, let me take these inside for you."

Mingxiu pointed apologetically at the pile of shopping bags scattered on the ground.

After Chu Wuyang smoothed out her skirt, she looked up.

"No need, I can do it myself... You, wait! Where's your hair?"

Mingxiu stopped tidying up while squatting on the ground. Hearing this, she touched her bald head, then turned around and looked around.

My gaze settled on a black baseball cap not far from the ground; it must have been accidentally knocked off during the struggle.

He walked over slowly, bent down to pick it up and put it on, then glanced casually at the window of the main building.

Suddenly, he shivered; a chill inexplicably swept over him, and a strange feeling welled up inside him.

It felt as if something was staring straight at him from the window, making him extremely uncomfortable.

It felt like I was prey being targeted, and my whole body was covered in goosebumps.

He looked at the main building window again, seemingly unsure, and saw that it was tightly closed, even the curtains were drawn.

He shook his head slightly, realizing he was overthinking things.

How is that possible?

He picked up the bag from the ground and handed it to Chu Wuyang, offering a somewhat embarrassed explanation casually.

"It's too cold, so I shaved it all off."

Chu Wuyang took it, glanced at his crisp short-sleeved outfit, and her eyes were full of questions.

"ah?"

Mingxiu picked up the remaining shopping bags and handed them to the maid who had come to help.

He stood up and saw Chu Wuyang looking at him with a questioning expression. He was a little confused; what had he just said?

It's too hot, so I shaved it all off. That makes perfect sense!

He dared not say that he was ordered to shave his entire head.

Shaving your head in this hot weather is a perfectly reasonable reason.

He reassured himself again and again.

But I was still filled with doubts.

Why did his wife look at him as if he were a lunatic?

He turned around, touched his head, and went inside.

He muttered to himself as he walked.

"No problem at all! I'll just shave it when it gets hot, it's no problem at all!"

"That's what you said just now, right? That's exactly what you said, there's absolutely no problem with it!"

——

The spacious and luxurious master bedroom was dimly lit, with heavy curtains blocking out most of the sunlight.

Jing Min leaned back on the large bed, his face pale but unable to conceal his innate authority.

The cold white light emanating from the tablet in his hand illuminated his furrowed brows, and the taut jawline revealed suppressed dissatisfaction.

Yan Zhou tried to speak up and remind him to keep his emotions in check.

But fearing that explaining would only make things worse, Parker repeatedly reminded him that President Jing was different from ordinary people, and if his emotions remained unstable, he was bound to have a relapse.

He hadn't overlooked what President Jing had just seen by the window.

What was both unusual and fortunate was that President Jing seemed to be weak and listless, so he simply observed coldly without taking any further action.

"Has the approval for that piece of land in the suburbs of Yucheng not been granted yet?"

Jingmin's low, husky voice came through.

This interrupted Yan Zhou's inner speculation.

He thought President Jing was thinking about how to deal with this brat.

I didn't expect President Jing to be interested in work.

He considered the progress of the work and replied:

"Not yet. Our application materials are complete and reasonable enough, but this Director Song is notoriously difficult to deal with."

A middle-aged woman who neither smokes nor drinks, has no bad habits, and refuses money—she's practically an unyielding old woman…

His tone was rather helpless and troubled.

This isn't considered a major project for the company, so I didn't expect President Jing to be interested.

Jingmin fiddled with the tablet in his hand, stating it with a playful tone.

"Song Chengyun and her husband Chen Bingxi have been married for 26 years and have no children. On August 13, [year], someone saw Chen Bingxi entering and leaving a gay club, but he later denied that it was him."

"On the night of September 23, Chen Bingxi was caught on camera having a threesome with two men in a hotel room. Someone had a heart attack and an ambulance was called. He denied that it was just a gathering of friends."
