Chapter 44 Going to the Military Academy to Find Zhou Jinshan

When Feng Mingshu suddenly heard Director Wu congratulate her, her hand trembled and she almost spilled the tea. She quickly put down the teapot and apologized, "I'm sorry, Director Wu, I don't have any plans to get married at the moment. I'm sorry to disappoint you."

Director Wu was initially surprised, but seeing the girl's nervous and guilty expression, she quickly took her hand and comforted her kindly: "Ming Shu, don't be nervous. Auntie doesn't mean to pressure you to get married. You're young, so you should think it over more. Getting married a few years later is also fine."

Feng Mingshu blushed and thanked him. The topic then shifted to other things, but she was still somewhat uneasy.

Fortunately, her mother quickly gave her a reason to go out and mail letters, allowing her to leave.

After leaving her own courtyard, Feng Mingshu held the envelope containing the marriage certificate. After hesitating for a moment, she did not go to the post office, but instead boarded a bus heading towards the Maritime Academy.

She planned to return the marriage certificate to Zhou Jinshan in person and apologize to him. As for the future, she would deal with that later.

Unbeknownst to her, after she left, her mother, Yu Jingqiu, briefly told Director Wu about her relationship with Zhou Jinshan, and then said with some regret, "That Comrade Zhou is also a good young man, but he and my Mingshu are not compatible."

Director Wu smiled and said, "That means it's not our time to meet Ming Shu yet. I'll have someone send an invitation when we hold the next social dance." He then instructed his young assistant, "Xiao Lin, remember this for me."

"Yes, Director Wu, I've got it." The young assistant, Lin Zihua, quickly replied and carefully wrote it down in his notebook.

Looking at the young man he had been mentoring for several years, Director Wu suddenly had another idea: "Xiao Lin, I remember you don't have a boyfriend either, right? Why don't you come to the next social dance party?"

Lin Zihua wasn't stupid. He immediately understood the implied meaning in Director Wu's words. After a slight pause, the image of the gentle and beautiful face of the Feng family girl appeared before his eyes. His heart suddenly raced. When he looked up, he met Yu Jingqiu's appraising gaze, and his tongue suddenly tied itself in knots: "Thank you, thank you, Director Wu, for giving me this opportunity."

Yu Jingqiu was satisfied after looking Lin Zihua over. She exchanged a glance with Director Wu, who then smiled and said to Lin Zihua, "Don't thank me yet. Whether you can find a partner or not depends on your own efforts."

Unbeknownst to Feng Mingshu, within just a few minutes, under her mother's guidance, Director Wu arranged another social dance party for her, even reserving a date for her.

She took two buses and finally arrived at the gate of Bincheng Haishi College in the evening.

When Zhou Jinshan received the news, he was receiving an IV drip in the infirmary. He was stunned for a full three seconds before suddenly pulling out the needle from the back of his hand, bringing out a string of blood beads.

The newly transferred, older nurse was startled by his actions: "Comrade Zhou, what are you doing? Don't run away, come back quickly!"

Zhou Jinshan ran wildly, and the nurses couldn't stop him, nor could the messengers catch up with him.

He ran two miles in just two and a half minutes and arrived at the outside of the reception room, but did not go in immediately. Instead, he calmed his breathing outside the door.

It took a full half minute for Zhou Jinshan to sense that Zhou Jinshan's breathing had stabilized before he reached out and opened the door.

The door made a soft sound, and the girl sitting inside noticed it, looking up at it.

The last rays of evening light streamed in through the window, illuminating her porcelain-white face with a soft, glazed glow. This caused his breathing to quicken again, and he couldn't look away.

He quickly looked away when he heard the slight sound of a chair moving.
