When Feng Mingshu saw that the person outside the door was Zhou Jinshan, she quickly stood up from her chair, but the man turned his face away, his jaw clenched, and he showed no intention of coming in.
Feng Mingshu realized that he had offended someone badly that morning, and quickly apologized: "Comrade Zhou, I apologize for my rude words and actions this morning. I'm sorry."
After speaking, she bowed in the direction of Zhou Jinshan, but as soon as she bent down, a figure appeared in front of her. The person grasped her arm, and a deep voice came from above her head: "No need."
As soon as she finished speaking, she was pulled up by a perfectly timed force. Feng Mingshu couldn't help but look up and saw the man's jaw with faint stubble marks. It looked very tough, completely different from the softness of a woman.
The man was very tall, and his face was not visible from this angle. Feng Mingshu tried hard to discern his emotions from his strong jawline, but to no avail. However, she caught a glimpse of his prominent Adam's apple, which was slowly rolling, casting a sharp shadow, like a knife.
Feng Mingshu felt the pressure and took a step back. At that moment, the man's hand that was holding her arm also loosened, and she successfully created distance, meeting the man's slightly lowered gaze.
He was facing the direction out the window, his eyes meeting the light, his dark pupils seemed to have lightened a bit, and Feng Mingshu's pressure also lessened. She breathed a sigh of relief, took out an envelope from her bag and handed it to him with both hands: "Comrade Zhou, I have no authority to process this marriage report, so I'm returning it to you."
Zhou Jinshan paused for a moment upon hearing this, then said, "I told you, you can tear it up or burn it."
Feng Mingshu reiterated, "I don't have that right. Please return it. If necessary, I will apologize to your superior."
"No need, I've already taken care of things." Zhou Jinshan spoke quickly as he took the envelope, but unintentionally revealed his left hand, where veins bulged on the back of his hand and bloodstains stained half of his hand, spreading to his wrist.
"Why is there so much blood?" Feng Mingshu's pupils contracted slightly, and he subconsciously took out a handkerchief and covered the back of his hand.
"It's alright, the blood has already clotted," Zhou Jinshan said nonchalantly.
No sooner had he finished speaking than blood gushed from the needle prick due to unintentional pressure, staining the plain white handkerchief red. Zhou Jinshan immediately reached out and lifted the handkerchief, saying, "Don't get your handkerchief dirty."
"Don't move!" Feng Mingshu glared at him and pressed down on her handkerchief.
When that somewhat fierce look fell into Zhou Jinshan's eyes, it felt as if a cat's claw had scratched his heart, causing a tingling sensation, a flutter, and the sound of his heartbeat that he could clearly hear.
It's too loud!
He tried hard to suppress his gaze so as not to startle the girl who was bending down to bandage his wounds, but his eyes couldn't help but slowly trace her face, from her fair and smooth forehead, her crescent-shaped eyebrows, her thick and curled eyelashes, to her pretty nose and rosy lips...
Feng Mingshu felt like she was being watched. She quickened her pace, quickly bandaged and tied the knot, and looked up to see the man looking out the window with a calm and focused gaze.
Feng Mingshu cursed himself for being narcissistic, took a step back and said, "Comrade Zhou, your school should have a medical room, right?" Before he could respond, he continued, "Go back and have the doctor treat you again. I'm leaving now."
After saying goodbye, he lifted his foot to leave, and then heard a man calling after him.
"Comrade Feng, it's getting late, let me take you home."
Zhou Jinshan strode to the door and opened it for her.
