Chapter 9: Steal the prettiest one

Guawazi Zhou Jinshan's face darkened, and he turned and left.

"Hey, Lao Zhou, don't go! I didn't mean to, it was just a coincidence." Lu Xiangqian quickly grabbed him and apologized.

As a result of this tug-of-war, many officers came over to greet Zhou Jinshan and inquire about his injuries and recovery.

Zhai Qingping also went. Before leaving, he apologized to Feng Mingshu and said he would be back soon.

Feng Mingshu wanted to tell him that it was unnecessary, but the other person left quickly, so she went to a corner, found a bench, and sat down, intending to wait a little longer before leaving.

Aren't you curious about who Zhou Jinshan is?

The light dimmed, and Fu Jiarong walked up to her, looking down at her and asking.

Feng Mingshu glanced at Fu Jiarong, then looked away and replied with three words: "Not curious."

Fu Jiarong was taken aback, but she didn't leave. Instead, she sat down next to her, raised her chin, and gestured for her to look at the group of girls who were secretly glancing at Zhou Jinshan and whispering: "You're not curious, but they are. To be honest, when we come here for blind dates, who doesn't want to find the best one to take home and make them look good?"

Feng Mingshu did not respond, but Fu Jiarong continued, "I have a relative in the army. He told me that Zhou Jinshan recently made a great contribution. The injuries on his body were from when he made the contribution. Once he recovers, he will be promoted."

Why are you telling me all this?

Feng Mingshu spoke coldly. She didn't like overly enthusiastic people, especially since it was her first time meeting Fu Jiarong today, and it wouldn't be a good thing to have such a deep conversation with someone she barely knew.

Fu Jiarong was annoyed that her flirtatious glances had been met with such indifference, but she suppressed her anger and said, "Then I'll tell you the truth. I know Zhai Qingping. Our families have some connections. I came here today specifically for him. As long as you don't talk to him, I'll help you connect with Zhou Jinshan."

Feng Mingshu frowned slightly, feeling a bit annoyed: "You don't need to tell me about your business with Comrade Zhai, and you don't need to make any connections for me."

Fu Jiarong thought she wouldn't agree, and her thin eyebrows immediately stood up: "Don't think that just because Director Wu introduced you to him, you have a chance. He's seen plenty of pretty girls over the years, and he's seen quite a few in the performing arts troupe. You're not outstanding at all in there!"

Feng Mingshu glanced at Fu Jiarong, which made the latter's temper flare up: "What did you mean by that look?"

Feng Mingshu patted off non-existent dust from his sleeve and replied slowly, "Judging by your outstanding appearance, you must have a place among Comrade Zhai's men."

It sounds like nice words, but something feels off.

Before Fu Jiarong could figure it out, the auditorium suddenly switched to a cheerful dance tune, and men and women entered the dance floor to dance.

At the same time, three upright officers walked over. Zhai Qingping was half a step ahead and said to Feng Mingshu with a smile, "Comrade Feng, so you're here. I've been looking for you."

Fu Jiarong stood up with joy the moment she saw Zhai Qingping, but when she saw that he only had eyes and words for Feng Mingshu, Fu Jiarong’s face stiffened for a moment. Then she still raised her perfect smile that she had practiced for a long time: “Brother Qingping, it’s been a long time.”

Zhai Qingping then noticed the girl standing next to Feng Mingshu, glanced behind her with a blank expression, and asked, "Comrade, who are you? I don't remember seeing you before?" Calling someone "brother" so casually isn't very appropriate, is it?

Although the last sentence was not spoken aloud, it was implied on the surface.

Fu Jiarong's eyes reddened with grievance: "Comrade Zhai, we really have met. It was on September 3rd last year at the Xiangfu Hotel in Beijing. Our two families bumped into each other. My uncle took me to your private room and we talked. Uncle Zhai saw that I was younger than you and told me to call you brother."

Hearing her say that, Zhai Qingping vaguely remembered the matter, but a sneer appeared on his lips: "My dad was just being polite. You really dare to come and acknowledge him. If everyone came to acknowledge him, most of the young girls in Beijing would have to call me brother, and I couldn't possibly handle it all."

Fu Jiarong was stunned, not expecting Zhai Qingping to be so ruthless towards women, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Zhai Qingping didn't glance at Fu Jiarong again, but turned his gaze to the quiet girl who had been sitting on the bench and smiled, "Comrade Feng, let me introduce you to my two roommates."

"This guy who's as black as a lump of coal is called Lu Xiangqian."

"This injured man is called Zhou Jinshan."
