Chapter Thirty: Minor Friction
The holiday really flew by. Everyone seemed a little dazed when they got back.
So this is... senior year of high school?
Although I'm only about to enter my senior year of high school.
I'll only be able to go home once a month from now on.
Their schedule was pushed back another half hour.
The teacher said that the morning schedule hasn't been adjusted yet, but the morning reading will start even earlier for seniors.
"Alright, let's get back to the main topic. Everyone, pack up and move your things from the dorms to Lingyun Building. We'll be in a small building over there, it's really nice, on the first floor. This building isn't usually used as classrooms. You're in luck."
Wow. It looks great.
Compared to the main building of Lingyun Tower, this three-story building is still amazing.
It's new, and there are only two classrooms on the first floor. There's no one on the opposite side, and the upper floors are locked and unused.
You Sui'an carried his things out of the dormitory, panting, and ran into Li Yunxing on the way.
It seems like whoever you want will appear. You Sui'an thought to himself.
Li Yunxing, however, took the book from her hands quite consciously.
You Sui'an's eyes are like crescent moons.
Her eyebrows and eyes were bright and expressive.
Senior year of high school doesn't seem so bad after all. Actually, Li Yunxing was a little nervous, but when he looked at You Suian, he couldn't help but calm down.
Some subjects have already been completed, and the remaining ones are planned to be finished during summer school or by using a little bit of time in the senior year of high school.
Chinese, English, and history have entered the first round of review.
You Sui'an is currently very interested in the subject. His Chinese language studies are undergoing systematic organization, starting with summarizing the correct usage of punctuation, which also expands on many details that are usually overlooked. English is also being taught in thematic sections, with neatly printed college entrance exam vocabulary, phrases, and various proverbs. His history knowledge is also being reorganized.
Many people might find it boring, but You Sui'an quite likes this simple, clear, and concise content, which makes her feel comfortable.
A person's state of mind really affects their grades. You Suian did well on the final exams this time, even guessing two multiple-choice questions correctly, ranking 7th in the grade. Tang Qingyue and Li Yunxing are also hardworking types, ranking 19th and 36th in the grade respectively. Zhao Zhi has also been working hard recently, but he's still only in the lower middle of the class, ranking 82nd in the grade.
Zhao Zhi really admired Li Yunxing. They were at the bottom of the class together back then, but now Li Yunxing is very impressive, although he himself has also made great progress.
He punched Li Yunxing: "You're getting more and more awesome, kid."
Li Yunxing smiled awkwardly.
The semester has ended, but there has been no holiday; summer school has arrived as scheduled.
They stayed for almost another month before finally going home.
How did it all happen? I'm already a senior in high school.
However, You Suian was a little annoyed because this semester the homeroom teacher had to arrange the seating himself, and they could only choose one deskmate at most.
This resulted in her and Tang Qingyue sitting at a table with a rather annoying person—someone who loved forming cliques, constantly swearing in class, swearing at everyone from teachers to classmates, and eating during self-study periods. The person sitting right behind them was also a member of this clique—Tao Yan.
Touring Sui'an is a bit of a headache.
After You Sui'an discovered for what seemed like the umpteenth time that Zhang Xun and Zhu Liu were secretly pushing the table forward, leaving them nowhere to put their feet, she decided to push the table back after self-study get out of class.
There was hardly anyone around, so You Sui'an simply moved over.
"Zhu Liu, it's so crowded! I'm going to die from being squeezed. Someone is really selfish."
As soon as Zhang Xun returned, she started being sarcastic and sarcastic. You Suian glanced at her indifferently and didn't take it to heart.
You Sui'an silently murmured, "The first time."
Later, You Sui'an caught a cold and went home to get medicine. Tang Qingyue also went home to see a doctor because of stomach discomfort.
When You Suian returned, he saw that there was almost no place to put his feet. He sneered and pushed his seat back hard when he stood up for class.
She didn't even need to turn around.
This is the second time.
Zhang Xun was somewhat incredulous. When get out of class ended, she stopped cursing at the teacher and instead kept cursing at Zhu Liu.
You Suian felt that he must be having a run of bad luck lately, as he kept getting sick and always seemed to run into strange people.
You Sui'an had just gotten up from his seat to get some hot water when he bumped into Tao Yan.
Unfortunately, Tao Yan was holding a cup, and unfortunately, the water in the cup just happened to spill onto Xiao Chou, who was passing by.
She was holding a ceramic mug without a lid.
Just as You Suian was about to say "sorry," he was interrupted by Tao Yan's exclamation.
She was standing there, doing nothing.
"Ah—" A long, piercing scream, followed by Tao Yan's sharp voice saying, "Oh dear, oh dear, get some paper, get some paper."
She was so flustered, it was like she was dancing. You Suian almost laughed. Obviously, she was just making exaggerated movements. When a kind person next to her took out some paper, she grabbed a handful and started pasting it all over his clothes.
Perhaps it was because he was too concerned, but You Sui'an didn't bother to think about it too much.
You Suian waited for them to finish dealing with the situation before leaving, and in the end, he didn't even bother to apologize.
Tao Yan didn't apologize either, did she?
It wasn't her fault to begin with, was it? You can't expect to see the back of your head, can you?
Besides, she couldn't be bothered by the young couple showing affection.
You Sui'an doesn't like being disturbed; they've been blocking the road for about five minutes.
Everyone took a detour.
But You Suian didn't know whether she should leave. She felt she should just wait until everyone had finished dealing with it, since she had also been dragged into it.
For three consecutive classes, Tao Yan and Zhang Xun kept chattering away.
Oh, Zhu Liu is also agreeing.
You Sui'an could hear it very clearly.
"So what if you get good grades? Why are you so rude?" Zhang Xun had clearly been dissatisfied with You Suian for a long time and eagerly started the conversation.
Zhu Liu quickly echoed this sentiment.
"She has absolutely no emotional intelligence. Doesn't she know that this hurts people's self-esteem?" For some reason, Tao Yan joined in.
Tao Yan brought up the matter of You Sui'an changing dormitories, which made her feel a little embarrassed in the dormitory.
You Suian thought about his reasons for changing dormitories, and a mocking smile appeared on his lips.
I kept quiet about it at the time to protect her fragile self-esteem.
This is the third time.
The attacks on her did not end.
Of course, the same applies to Tang Qingyue.
They moved their seats back from You Sui'an and Tang Qingyue, and the argument escalated to the point of discussing character.
One was loading goods, the other was carrying white lotus flowers.
Tang Qingyue's expression was cold and stern, while You Sui'an wore a half-smile.
This was an English class, and they were going over the test papers. You Suian looked at his own mistakes, which were far down the list, so the class couldn't cover them.
She nudged Tang Qingyue, and Tang Qingyue's eyes immediately warmed up.
Should we change seats?
Tang Qingyue seemed surprised that this could happen; she had originally thought she would have to put up with this group of people for a long time.
Tang Qingyue nodded, her expression no longer so cold.
You Suian took out a piece of paper and began to write, objectively describing the recent situation.
As for the insults during those classes, she glossed over them.
She wasn't one to tattle, but there was no need to waste time with people like that.
The writing is clear and well-organized.
You couldn't tell she was angry at all. Actually, she wasn't that angry; she was just annoyed.
After class, she asked Tang Qingyue for her opinion and then decided to hand it over to the teacher.
Clearly, both of them felt they were getting annoyed if they didn't change seats soon.
You Suian spent the whole morning looking for the office, but there were hardly any people or teachers there during the morning self-study period.
Teacher Li was also troubled. He had arranged for You Suian to be with Tang Qingyue and that group of people because he thought You Suian had a good personality and could get along well with people.
So he quickly agreed this time.
But... how should I arrange this? Being a homeroom teacher is really troublesome.
Once you reach the senior year of high school, everyone becomes particularly restless, and constant friction becomes the norm.
There are often various minor frictions.
Teacher Li sighed.
After You Suian returned, he smiled and looked at Tang Qingyue, blinking his eyes. She immediately knew that You Suian had succeeded.
But... we can't just get scolded for no reason, can we?
Tang Qingyue stood up expressionlessly, took a ruler, and measured the width of her seat.
She then measured their positions amidst the bewildered gazes of that group of people.
Then Tang Qingyue smiled coldly and only glanced at them twice.
They were too embarrassed to speak again.
It's finally quiet down.
You Suian looked at her with some admiration and whispered, "My deskmate is so amazing."
Tang Qingyue's face flushed.
A week later, it was time to change seats.
Teacher Li then announced that the more disruptive students or those who didn't pay attention in class would be moved to the front row.
When the names Zhang Xun, Zhu Liu, and Tao Yan were read out, their expressions all stiffened.
Zhang Xun, in particular, had a dark expression on her face and even rolled her eyes.
The teacher had already said we could change seats, and everyone started to leave one after another.
Tao Yan looked at her quiet deskmate.
She said, "If I disturbed you during class, then I'm sorry, okay? I apologize."
She only stopped after the other person repeatedly assured her that they weren't angry.
Tao Yan's voice was loud; it was unclear whether she was throwing a tantrum. Anyway, You Suian found it strange.
Zhang Xun and Zhu Liu were even less lenient, directly questioning whether she had complained about being disturbed during class.
You Sui'an found it strange; how could someone be falsely accused like this?
The ones who clearly had conflicts with them were her and Tang Qingyue.
What a strange bunch of people, why do they always pick on the gentle ones?
However, You Suian thought that the homeroom teacher was going to move them to the first row and make them stay in the first row, so she didn't say anything.
That poor, quiet girl can finally have some peace and quiet.
She had no intention of sowing discord between anyone. In fact, by doing this, she was helping her see the true colors of that group of people, and they probably wouldn't have any further contact afterward.
Those who are clean will be clean by themselves.
No one is foolish enough to file a complaint and then admit it to the person involved; that would be a provocation, and You Sui'an would certainly not do that.
Teacher Li made a slight adjustment, moving Shen Furong and Wang Xiaoqian to the back of them.
It can be considered a blessing in disguise.
Now that they are in their final year of high school, the teachers are even more worried that they will become emotionally unstable due to dating and other factors, so they keep the boys and girls completely separated.
You Sui'an misses the days when Li Yunxing was behind her.
The sound of him reading aloud.
He would pat her shoulder gently each time he handed her the workbook.
When she turned around to hand him the homework, he looked drowsy.
You Suian smiled slightly and shook his head slightly. Now was not the time to think about such things.
She continued to bury herself in her homework.
