Chapter 5
Ren had a slight fever, so after sending Ren Yunyou to school, I asked for leave and went home.
As usual, Ruan Mianmian waited for Ren Yunyou to finish school at the milk tea shop in the alley next to the school.
"Mom is sick." Ren Yunyou poked around in the blanket with his straw, showing no interest.
It must have been too windy last night.
Ruan Mianmian was very worried.
“When my mom came to pick me up yesterday, her eyes were swollen. When my grandma asked her what happened, she only said that her rhinitis had flared up and she kept sneezing,” Ren Yunyou said seriously. “But I don’t think so. I wonder if my mom was bullied by someone.”
"I'm really angry."
The instigator touched his nose guiltily.
"Then Mommy will take you home in a bit."
On the way home, Ren Yunyou was quiet and well-behaved, even though she was worried about her mother.
"Mommy, aren't you going up to see Mommy?"
Ruan Mianmian looked around.
"If Mom's cold is still very bad, Yunyun will tell me."
She crouched down and saved her new number on Ren Yunyou's children's watch.
"Oh well."
Back home, the little girl casually left her shoes by the door and ran into the master bedroom.
Renyi was still lying in bed, seemingly in great discomfort.
Ren Yunyou knelt down beside her bed and pressed his forehead against hers to check her temperature.
"Mommy, it's so hot, Mommy..." The little girl was anxiously pacing around.
"Yunyun," Renyi opened her sleepy eyes and saw that it was her daughter coming home from school, "Mom's okay..."
"Help Mom get the first-aid kit from the coffee table drawer. She'll feel better after taking the medicine."
She covered her mouth and nose, worried about infecting her daughter.
Ren Yunyou ran out with a "da da da" sound, and then ran back in with a "da da da" sound, holding a cup of warm water in his hand.
"Thank you, Yunyun." She swallowed the medicine, still feeling dizzy, and thanked her daughter.
"Mom, get well soon."
"I'll be fine after a nap. Yunyun, why don't you go watch some TV, okay?"
Between the TV and Mom, Mom is more important.
Ren Yunyou shook his head, wanting to stay by her side.
"Mom just wants to sleep. If you're worried, watch TV for half an hour and then come in to check on me, okay?"
All right.
Ren Yunyou tiptoed and closed the door, deliberately leaving a crack.
While watching TV, she pondered the situation and finally used her children's smartwatch to call Ruan Mianmian.
"I understand." Ruan Mianmian waited in the garage for a while and, sure enough, received a call from her daughter.
She put on a mask and hat, went to the nearby farmers' market to buy some vegetables, and then went to a steamed bun shop to buy some breakfast before carrying her bags home.
"Mommy!" Ren Yunyou opened the door for her and, seeing so many things in her hands, quickly reached out and took some of them.
Where is Mom?
"Mom is sleeping, and her forehead feels so hot."
Ruan Mianmian carefully washed her hands and tiptoed into the bedroom.
He was lying on the bed, probably asleep.
She touched her forehead, and it was indeed very hot.
In my sleep, I would instinctively rub against anything that felt cold.
You must hold back, or all your efforts will be in vain!
Ruan Mianmian quickly withdrew her hand.
"Mommy, I'm a little hungry." Ren Yunyou poked his little head in.
"I'll make dinner right away."
I like to drink porridge when I'm sick, even though porridge isn't very nutritious at that time.
Ruan Mianmian would always cook a pot of sweet porridge and feed it to her after she woke up.
This time was no different; Ruan Mianmian bought pears and cut them into small pieces.
Ren Yunyou rinsed the rice and watched his mother cook porridge.
"What kind of porridge would Yunyun like to eat?"
"I like everything Mommy makes!"
"How about we have lean meat porridge?"
Okay~
Ruan Mianmian then stir-fried a plate of spicy shrimp and green vegetables.
Having not eaten her cooking for a long time, Ren Yunyou ate with her two little feet dangling in the air.
I miss my mom's cooking so much.
"Did Yunyun prepare a birthday present for Mommy?"
"Yes!" Ren Yunyou took out his schoolbag and pulled out a painting from it.
It's Yunyun and her mom. The mom is in the middle with her eyes closed, making a wish, while Yunyun and her mom sing "Happy Birthday" beside her.
So happy.
Ruan Mianmian smiled sadly and carefully smoothed out the creased corner.
"Where's Mommy? What did Mommy prepare?"
"Hmph, I won't tell you." Ruan Mianmian put away her sad mood and finished dinner with Yunyun amidst their bickering.
Perhaps because she went to bed very late the night before, Ren Yunyou started to feel sleepy not long after finishing her meal. After taking a shower, she lay down on the bed and covered herself with the blanket. She fell asleep halfway through Ruan Mianmian's bedtime story.
After taking care of the younger one, there's still the older one to look after.
Ruan Mianmian checked the time; it was already past eight o'clock. She carried the reheated pear porridge into the bedroom.
The warm yellow lamp was turned on, startling Renyi from her light sleep.
"...Mianmian..." Without her glasses, her vision was blurry.
Ruan Mianmian hugged her waist and placed a pillow behind her back so that she could lean back comfortably.
I stared at her intently, trying to determine if she was just my imagination.
"Eat something before you go back to sleep." Ruan Mianmian scooped up some porridge and fed it to her.
I rubbed my eyes, thinking I was still dreaming.
She took a small sip; it was so sweet.
It's not a dream.
She looked at the person in front of her and touched her face with her hand.
It really is soft and fluffy.
He threw himself into her arms.
"Mianmian, I had a nightmare..."
"I dreamt that you didn't want me and Yunyun anymore."
She buried her face in Ruan Mianmian's chest, her tears making her clothes sticky.
Ruan Mianmian remained silent, only gently patting her back to help her catch her breath.
After finally venting, Renyi sat obediently, waiting for Ruan Mianmian to feed her porridge.
"Does your throat hurt? Are you dizzy?"
"Sore throat, dizziness." Move your limbs around a bit, and you'll feel sore all over.
"Remember to take your medicine after you finish eating."
He nodded casually, and after eating, he lay down again in a daze.
Ruan Mianmian prepared the medicine and placed the capsules and water beside her bed.
After tidying everything up, she intended to take one last look at Ren Yi before leaving, but Ren Yi's condition kept fluctuating, and he was so uncomfortable that he even groaned softly in his sleep.
Ruan Mianmian then applied a wet towel to her burning forehead.
"Mianmian...don't go..." In a half-dream, half-awake state, he grabbed her hand.
Suddenly, Ren Yi's strength became astonishing, and Ruan Mianmian, who was kneeling on the ground, fell onto the bed.
Delicious lips are so close, I can kiss them freely, they're cool and so comfortable.
She wanted more.
Her fingers, oblivious to everything, slipped inside her clothes and touched her slightly cool skin. Satisfied, she pressed her entire body against it.
It's so hot, really so hot.
She kicked off the blanket, wanting nothing more than to hug this soft, fluffy thing.
Her buttons were ripped open haphazardly, and she unceremoniously pushed the man onto the bed. Their skin touched, and she finally got what she wanted.
"It's so hot..."
She sat on Ruan Mianmian's waist, pulling her slightly cool hand to the softest part of her body. Her lower lip, which had been bitten raw, was finally freed, and she looked up and sighed softly.
Her pajamas were half-hanging on her wrists, restricting her movement.
The person beneath her had no choice but to help her take off her clothes and place them aside.
"Kiss me... Mianmian..." Renyi nuzzled against the crook of her neck.
Perhaps still not quite lucid, she boldly kept pleading in her ear.
I haven't told her my love in so long, once isn't enough, I'll do it again.
Let's try again.
Let's try again.
Until the air became humid.
Her knuckles turned white from gripping the pillow so tightly, and her voice was even hoarseer than during the day.
Ruan Mianmian rubbed her sore arms, wiped her body clean, and changed the sheets.
Ren Yi still held her hand tightly and wouldn't let go, so she had no choice but to lie down next to her.
She was still sleeping restlessly, her brows furrowed, and she still felt unwell.
Noticing a large, soft cushion next to her, she kept rubbing against it.
After tireless efforts, she finally fell asleep in Ruan Mianmian's arms.
Ruan Mianmian hugged her, feeling her burning body temperature.
Just be willful this once.
Happy birthday, Ayi.
Early the next morning.
With dark circles under her eyes, Ruan Mianmian heated up some steamed buns and called Ren Yunyou to get up.
Achoo!
"Mommy, have you caught a cold too?"
"...No, it's just rhinitis."
"So you're just like your mom."
Ruan Mianmian bit the tip of her tongue.
