Chapter 6 Lu

Chapter 6 Lu

Why do I feel even more tired after taking a nap?

Whenever I try to sit up, my back aches terribly.

She turned on her phone, which showed 11:07.

I took the thermometer from the side and checked the temperature; the fever had subsided.

Does Yunyun go to school?

She stood up, supporting her back, and limped towards Ren Yunyou's bedroom.

The small quilt was folded neatly.

Yunyun placed the sticky notes on the dining table, in a place where they could be seen at a glance.

Happy birthday to the best mom in the world!

There's porridge in the fridge; it's takeout I asked my neighbor to order for me.

There was also the birthday gift Ren Yunyou had given her on the side, and Ren Yi felt a lump in her throat as she looked at it.

While she was heartbroken over Ruan Mianmian's situation, Yunyun was also missing her mother.

Her stomach started rumbling, and she realized that she hadn't eaten anything all day yesterday.

There was a full bowl of pear porridge in the refrigerator.

Sweet and icy.

It reminds me of last night's dream.

Her legs went weak, and she quickly put the porridge on the table.

Is my period about to start?

While drinking her porridge, she picked up Yunyun's painting to admire it, only to discover that there was a bank card underneath.

The infusion hall of a hospital.

The nurse had to prick her several times before she could successfully insert the needle into Ruan Mianmian's vein.

Her blood vessels are much thinner than normal.

"It's okay, don't be nervous, I'm used to it," Ruan Mianmian comforted her.

As the cold liquid entered her veins, she leaned back in her chair, her eyelids growing heavier.

"Auntie!" A familiar voice woke her up.

It's that girl who appeared in the bar.

"Why did you get here so quickly?" Ruan Mianmian rubbed her temples; she was really sleepy.

“I was just about to come here to get my mom her medicine.” The girl sat down next to her. “They did go to your place yesterday, and they even asked me and my mom why you weren’t home.”

The girl opened an iced cola, and the bubbles overflowed, staining her skirt.

Ruan Mianmian handed her a tissue.

"Thank you, Auntie." She wasn't in a hurry. She took a sip, let out a satisfied sigh, and then began to wipe her skirt. "How would I know? I'm not even familiar with her."

...

Those people have found us again so quickly. She instinctively clenched her fist, and a sharp pain shot through her.

"Hey, you still have needles in your hand!" The girl patted her hand. "This isn't a solution. Why don't you go somewhere else... or go abroad, go as far away as possible."

“It’s not the right time yet,” Ruan Mianmian shook her head.

"Tch, I think you can't live without your wife," the girl muttered under her breath.

"Qiao Jianing, what are you saying?" She listened attentively.

"I didn't say anything," Qiao Jianing said, feigning innocence.

It was lunchtime, and she also brought a bowl of rice noodles for Ruan Mianmian, who had suddenly caught a cold and needed an IV drip for some unknown reason.

"No classes this afternoon?" Ruan Mianmian asked her.

"Yes, but it's a practical exercise; we don't need to go to the classroom." Qiao Jianing blew on the noodles in her bowl to cool them down, then stuffed a mouthful into her mouth. "What are your plans for the future?"

"Let's find another place to stay."

"Then shall I ask my friend to take a look for you?"

"Thanks."

As the medication took effect, Ruan Mianmian slept peacefully for a while longer. When she woke up, the nurse was removing the needle from her.

"Remember to set an alarm next time. There are so many people here, we might not even notice when your medication is finished," the nurse pointed to the IV line. "Your blood is flowing backwards."

I'm sorry.

"Press it yourself for a while longer."

She went to the milk tea shop as usual to wait for Ren Yunyou after school, and just like yesterday, she took Yunyun downstairs and waited for her call.

Yunyun opened the door expectantly, sat casually on the sofa, and started tidying her clothes.

"Mom!" Ren Yunyou put down his schoolbag, ran over and buried his face in her stomach. "Mom, are you still feeling unwell?"

"I'm not feeling bad anymore, thank you Yunyun." Renyi gently stroked Yunyun's little head, letting his daughter hug him.

"I'm very worried about my mom."

“Mom’s fever has subsided, Yunyun,” Renyi cupped her face in her hands, “thanks to Yunyun’s care.”

Ren Yunyou lowered his head in embarrassment.

It wasn't her, it was Mommy.

"Did Yunyun return the money for the porridge to the neighbor lady? If not, Mom will go find her in a bit."

"I gave it back!" Ren Yunyou didn't dare look at her glasses. "I gave her my allowance."

"Then Mom will return the money to Yunyun~"

"No, no need!" she said, feeling increasingly guilty, adding that she needed to go back to her room to read.

The little angel and the little devil in my head are having a fierce debate.

"You must be a good child who keeps their promises! You can't lie to Mommy!" said the little angel.

"You want Mommy and Mommy to make up too, don't you? It's just a white lie!" the little devil said.

Ren Yunyou ran into the room and dialed his mother's number, but after one busy signal, he regretted it and hurriedly hung up.

Ruan Mianmian's heart sank, worried that something might have happened at home. After hesitating for a long time, she still took the elevator.

Renyi in the living room was completely unaware of what was about to happen.

She was folding her thick winter clothes and putting them into a storage box.

Actually, that also includes Ruan Mianmian.

Even if she never comes home again, I can still return these clothes to her by keeping them safe.

Make excuses for yourself at will.

A piece of paper floated out of the pocket of the clothes.

It's Ruan Mianmian's bank card statement.

Last December, she withdrew all the money from her cards and deposited it all into one card.

He frowned slightly and picked up the card on the table.

The card number is exactly the same as the deposit account number on the statement.

There was a knock at the door, so Renyi opened it.

"Yunyun, are you alright...?"
