Chapter 7

Chapter 7

"What is this, a breakup fee?"

"...You could say that." Ruan Mianmian composed herself and returned to her usual calm and collected expression.

Looking at the card in his hand, he suddenly felt like laughing.

Can money make up for everything?

"Can I use this money to buy you back?" she asked with a smile.

“I have no plans to be a gigolo for the time being.” Ruan Mianmian easily picked up on her words and then casually tossed them away.

“My income is enough to support Yunyun and me. This is all your own savings,” he said, handing it to her. “I don’t need it.”

"This is my compensation to you and Yunyun."

“Compensation?” Ren Yi raised an eyebrow, surprised that Ruan Mianmian used this term. “Why would there be compensation?”

"You broke up with me because you fell in love with someone else? You cheated on me?"

"No!" Ruan Mianmian retorted instinctively, her voice suddenly becoming louder.

"Then you don't need to give me money." He raised his hand so she could take the card.

Ren Yunyou poked his head out of the room.

It seems like Mom and Mommy are arguing.

Is it because she just dialed her mother's number?

She pouted.

Seeing that she was about to cry, Ruan Mianmian softened her tone.

"Then you can keep it for me." She stopped looking at Ren Yi and turned her gaze to Ren Yunyou. "Yunyun, Mommy is leaving now."

“Remember to think of me~” Ruan Mianmian smiled and waved to her.

He then closed the door and ran away down the stairs.

In those few short minutes, she had already prepared a whole host of excuses to make Renyi believe that she really didn't love her anymore.

But it seems unnecessary.

Because everything is very calm.

She even joked about herself with a laugh.

It went even more smoothly than expected; Ruan Mianmian should be happy.

But Ruan Mianmian only felt a sense of loss.

Has Ren Yi really let go of her so quickly?

She leaned against the bus window, gazing at the familiar street.

Qiao Jianing said she didn't want to leave because it was too clingy and arbitrary.

That's not wrong either.

No matter how well she pretends, and she can fool everyone else, she can't fool herself.

When Ruan Mianmian saw her again after two months, she almost made all her previous efforts go to waste.

Thankfully, my phone rang.

She didn't hear a word they were saying; she just used it as an excuse to escape from Renyi's side in a disheveled state.

How could she not love being capricious?

She loves whatever comes her way.

They made love many times the night before Ruan Mianmian left.

Yunyun was sent to Ren's mother's place, which made Ruan Mianmian even more unruly, and the house became a mess.

She watched as Renyi gradually lost control under her actions, his eyes glazed over, his heart filled with unease about parting.

The more uneasy I feel, the harder I try, and the more I want to experience the freedom of being.

Before going to bed, Ruan Mianmian said she wanted to eat scallion oil noodles. Even though he felt too weak to even open his eyes, Ren Yi still managed to get out of bed to cook noodles for her.

"Mianmian, are you unhappy?" Renyi asked her.

She hugged Renyi's waist from behind, but just shook her head.

“We can face anything together, okay?” He tilted his head back and kissed her ear. “I’m your wife, your family.”

"Okay, I'm really fine." She smiled, revealing her dimples, just like she had done many times before.

Without thinking too much about it, after the noodles were cooked, she sat lazily next to Ruan Mianmian, propping her chin up with her hand. In the quiet and peaceful atmosphere, sleepiness slowly crept in, and she closed her eyes to take a nap.

In a daze, she heard a faint sound of water, like the sound of water droplets falling into water. She opened her eyes and saw Ruan Mianmian still eating noodles seriously.

"I wish I could eat Ayi's noodles every day."

Let's go back to the present.

A phone rang; it was a former colleague calling.

“Ms. Ruan, your relatives are here again. We told them that you resigned but it didn’t help… Could you please come over? They’ve been occupying several classrooms, making it inconvenient for students to come to class.”

"Sorry, I'll be right there." Ruan Mianmian glanced at the bus stop sign; there was still one stop to go.

When Ruan Mianmian arrived, the two reluctantly came out of the classroom.

"Second Uncle, Third Uncle," Ruan Mianmian greeted them.

"You still know I'm your second uncle! You don't answer your phone! You don't reply to messages! You don't even come home!" The older man walked over aggressively and shouted at Ruan Mianmian.

"My brother is truly a sin, raising such an ungrateful daughter like you, who doesn't even know how to contribute to the family." The slightly younger man followed behind the man from before, also criticizing her.

The teacher standing at the front desk was on tenterhooks, secretly opening the dial pad on her phone.

"I've already said I have no money," Ruan Mianmian said coldly, straightening her back and looking down at the two men.

"Don't lie to us!" Uncle San scolded her in a shrill voice, "You're in your thirties, haven't you saved any money? We all know you've been working here for years! Everyone knows how much tutors earn, so stop lying to us."

“There has never been such an unfilial junior in our family. You have never gone back to visit us even once, never bought anything for your grandparents, and you don’t even have any money! Do you think you’re being reasonable?”

How many do you want?

"One hundred thousand." The two men exchanged a glance, thinking that Ruan Mianmian was beginning to compromise with them, and simultaneously blurted out the number they had already agreed upon.

“Okay, I’ll burn it for you another day.” Ruan Mianmian smiled at them.

"What did you say!" The enraged second uncle grabbed her collar.

not good.

The teacher at the front desk quickly pressed that number.

Kind-hearted parents passing by tried to stop them, but the two men threatened them to mind their own business.

Amidst the commotion and shoving, Ruan Mianmian lost her balance and fell forward, her nose hitting a decorative protrusion on the wall.

Even faster than physiological tears, a scarlet liquid welled up, dripping onto the pristine white tiles like blooming little flowers.

When Uncle San saw this scene, he ran away first.

Other parents quickly grabbed their second uncle, who was also about to run away, and waited for the people in uniform to arrive.
