Chapter 39 Wang Fang suffers miscarriage, two broken shoes in one family

The next day, before Xiao Cui could even get the divorce referral letter, problems arose. She temporarily lost her teaching job and was reduced to working as a cleaner at the school. Since her family had long since collapsed, she had nowhere to go and had to return to the Qi family. This time, things were fine; no one in the family would look down on anyone else.

Xiao Cui could no longer maintain her elegance, because maintaining elegance was too expensive. Without the material conditions to support elegance, anyone would revert to their most primitive self.

They've given up entirely, creating a huge mess. It's like the porridge is too watery or the food is too bland—just pointless arguing, pointless noise, and pointless self-inflicted suffering…

Dear readers, you'll notice that all these negative emotions are preceded by the word "poor," meaning that when these problems arise, the root cause is poverty. It's a feeling of being poor, a feeling that what one has isn't enough.

However, there are advantages to arguing, namely that the family no longer cooks extra food for each other. On this particular day, because the porridge was too thin, the family was arguing when Wang Hong ran over, looking anxious, and said, "Grandma, my sister is bleeding! She's bleeding a lot!"

Qi's mother was stunned. Qi Zhifang's mind went blank. Xiao Cui also stopped and finished his porridge in a few bites. Although things were different now, Xiao Cui wasn't heartless. Besides, Wang Fang was still a child, so Xiao Cui didn't think the worst. He assumed she had been accidentally hurt. As a result, the three of them went over there one after the other. As soon as they entered, they saw Wang Dong standing there helplessly. Qi Zhifang glanced at him, her vision blurred, and she almost sat down. Qi's mother pulled her up and said urgently with tears in her eyes, "Take her to the hospital!"

Qi Zhifang roared in a low voice, "You're not allowed to go! How can you live with yourself after doing such a shameless thing? I knew you were doing well in the countryside, so how could you come home on vacation? Turns out you did something so shameless! Was the rope not strong enough, or the rat poison not poisonous enough? Why don't you just die? You might as well just die!"

Wang Dong snorted and said, "You have the nerve to live, why shouldn't she? Water has its source, a tree has its roots, and in the end, it's you, as her mother, who set a good example! Now you know you're shameful? Where were you all this time? Get out of the way!" With that, he quickly picked her up and ran towards the hospital. Wang Hong glared hatefully at Qi Zhifang and followed closely behind.

Mother Qi covered her mouth, stamped her foot, and cried, "What a tragedy! My Qi family will be ruined by you two sooner or later!"

He slapped Qi Zhifang hard across the face, then turned and left.

Xiao Cui stumbled upon a juicy piece of gossip, and immediately regretted her decision – what a lapse in judgment she'd made to follow along! She turned and hurried off to work.

Although he knew it might be bad news, Wang Dong still turned pale when he learned that Wang Fang was experiencing abdominal pain and bleeding because her abortion hadn't been done properly, the doctor who performed the procedure was inexperienced, and there were still remnants inside. Because she couldn't provide a marriage certificate or a letter of introduction from her workplace, the hospital could only provide emergency assistance and then report the matter to the local street office.

Wang Fang also endured a lot of cold looks and verbal abuse. When a nurse came over to clean her up, she coldly said, "Take off your pants!"

Wang Fang fidgeted and hesitated, prompting the nurse to snap impatiently, "Now you're shy? What were you doing before? Hurry up!"

Wang Fang, suppressing her grievances and with tears welling in her eyes, took off her pants. The nurse, holding a scalpel, disdainfully prepared her skin, then reluctantly wiped her face with gauze soaked in alcohol using tweezers. "How could you be so slutty, letting someone do this before you're even married? How shameless of you!"

They disdainfully completed the initial preparations, then left her standing there. Wang Hong cried as she took off her clothes to cover herself. After a while, the doctor came over and coldly snorted, "Now you know shame? Where were you before? Take your clothes away!"

Wang Hong quickly took the clothes away. The doctor didn't give her any anesthesia. Wang Fang screamed in pain. The doctor coldly said, "Now you know it hurts? What were you doing back then? Doing such a shameless thing. I don't know what your family taught you."

As he spoke, he pushed harder twice, accompanied by Wang Fang's screams. The doctor angrily scolded, "Shut up! This is just to teach you a lesson. Look how rotten you are inside! You're so young and you don't even respect yourself! Looking at you like this, you'll only be a barren hen in the future. You're disgusting!" After finishing, he gave her a hemostatic injection and an anti-inflammatory injection, and then sent her to stay in the corridor.

The cold wind blew, snowflakes fell, and the chill of winter couldn't compare to the coldness in Wang Fang's heart. She lay on the hospital bed, her tears dried up. Wang Hong stayed by her side. Because the nurses changing her dressings didn't try to hide their conversations, many passing patients knew about Wang Fang's situation, and some even came up several floors specifically to see her.

Just then, an old woman carrying a child less than a year old came in and passed by Wang Fang. She gave Wang Fang a look of utter disdain and said to the child, "Baby, come and throw one for Grandma!" The child immediately stretched out his index finger and drew a few lines on his face. The passersby laughed and said, "Baby is so clever. There's really a shameful little thing here! I really don't know how his family raised him."

"This is hereditary; the rest of my family isn't any better!"

"Do you know whose this is?" "How would we know? There were no adults with them the whole time, just a kid who looked about ten years old taking care of them."

Just then, the nurse came over and yanked the blanket off. "Ah!" Wang Fang screamed, both from the cold and fright. The nurse said impatiently, "What are you yelling about? Are you in heat? You have no shame. Lie down properly, let me check if there's any more blood!"

Wang Hong quickly covered her private parts with the bed sheet, while Wang Fang covered her chest with her hands, turned her head towards the wall, and tears streamed down her face. The nurse gave her a disdainful look and left, and Wang Hong quickly covered herself with the blanket.

Just then, a thug came over, smoking a cigarette and looking rather sleazy, and said, "Hey! Little sister, what's wrong? Why are you crying? Tell me what's wrong, and I'll take care of it for you..."
