Chapter 40 The Magical Gears of Fate 3

As she lay on the bed, suppressing her sobs, Qi Zhijun was at a loss for words. She really didn't know if the Qi family would be able to leave the house again if this got out.

He turned to walk back, a feeling of exhaustion and despair rising in his heart. Qi Zhifang and her daughter were like debt collectors, determined to drag the Qi family to the deepest abyss! And he felt like he had done something stupid, unable to refuse them.

When he got back, he saw that Xiao Cui had already washed up and was leaning against the headboard reading a book. Her sallow face no longer had any of the youthful radiance it once had. He sat down opposite Xiao Cui and said, "Did you do this on purpose?"

Xiao Cui closed the book, smiled, and said, "What did I do on purpose?"

Qi Zhijun watched as Xiao Cui lowered his head in frustration, rubbed his face, and said, "You know perfectly well what that bowl of brown sugar millet porridge is for, don't you?"

Xiao Cui laughed out loud, "Qi Zhijun, why are you becoming more and more petty? All you do is focus on the little things in the kitchen, like women. If you were focusing on fish, meat, or old hens, that would be one thing, but you're focusing on brown sugar and eggs? Don't you think that's cheap?"

Qi Zhijun was speechless, unable to utter a word in response to her own past words. Xiao Cui, still unsatisfied, continued, "Why are you silent now? So, you Qi family members are the kind of people who say, 'What's mine you can't touch, and what's not mine you have to give up'? That's too domineering! Since I married into your family, I've been eating pickled vegetables and cornbread year-round. The best I've ever had is a stir-fried cabbage stalk with tofu. Eggs and meat are always just something I can see but never eat. You always say the last one was eaten by someone else, and you'll buy it for me tomorrow. Are you a professional at making empty promises?"

Qi Zhijun sighed and said softly, "Can't you be reasonable? Isn't her situation special?"

Xiao Cui laughed in anger, "Qi Zhijun, are you and your family seriously ill? After what Qi Zhifang and Wang Fang did, most normal families would have cut ties with them long ago, afraid to even get involved. But you two, with all your resources, insist on supporting people like that? What? You only like women who cheat and act like hooligans? You think only the most slutty and disgusting ones deserve to enter your home?"

Qi Zhijun, indifferent and resigned, said, "Hey! You're right, we don't like anyone who isn't the most worn out. Otherwise, how could you be living so well in our house, bossing everyone around? Aren't you also a worn-out shoe that Wang Yanda wore? Oh, right, you really weren't worn out by Wang Yanda. You don't even know who that person is, do you?"

"Qi Zhijun, you bastard!" Xiao Cui trembled with anger, his vision blurring.

Qi Zhijun chuckled, "Am I wrong? Aren't you all equally bad? Otherwise, why would I not love Wei Shuqing, a virgin, and instead choose you? You really reminded me today, yes! It's precisely because she's not promiscuous and not sexy that she can't enter our house!" He shouted the last sentence, then slammed the door and left. Xiao Cui was so angry that she lay on the headboard and cried.

Finally, I picked up my notebook and wrote, "We've drifted apart like this in the winds of time, unable to find any trace of our time together, even though we tried so hard to be together back then! And now, even a trivial wish only reveals how much hope and expectation it held in moments of despair!"

Wei Shuqing, who was caught in the crossfire for no reason, was looking at her son with a headache. His bright, big eyes were blinking, and with his doll-like face, everyone would praise him as a sensible and smart child!

But aside from being sensible, he was really not smart at all. Suppressing his anger, he yelled, "Zhao Dahu, you get the hell in here!"

Zhao Dahu wiped the sweat from his brow at the door, holding an open can of hawthorn berries. He put on a smile and went inside, saying with a grin, "You're here! Eat something to nourish your brain!"

Zhao Aiguo carefully took the spoon from Zhao Dahu and was about to eat when Wei Shuqing slammed her hand on the table. "How dare you eat! You're ten years old, and you can't even recite a multiplication table..."

Zhao Dahu glared at him, "Hey! How dare you talk like that..." He then turned to Zhao Aiguo and winked, "Aiguo, you too, hurry back to your grandparents' room. You have one hour. If you can't memorize it, I'll make you regret it!" Zhao Aiguo quickly grabbed a spoon and a can of food and shouted, "Okay! Dad, just you wait!"

When Zhao Aiguo slipped to the door, Wei Shuqing realized something was wrong. "You come back here right now! You little bastard... Ugh!" Zhao Aiguo ran away in a flash. It was too dangerous here; he had to get back to the safe zone.

Zhao Dahu's kiss silenced Wei Shuqing. After a while, Wei Shuqing pushed Zhao Dahu away and scolded, "You're just a spendthrift..."

Zhao Dahu quickly shook his head, his cheeks twitching as he did so. "No, I've never squandered money!"

Wei Shuqing angrily punched him a few times, "You bastard, spoiling a child is like killing a child..."

Zhao Dahu grabbed Wei Shuqing's hand, stopping her personal attacks, and said with a sudden realization, "Then I understand now, wife, you used the wrong idiom."

Wei Shuqing, her face flushed with anger, stomped on his foot and roared, "What kind of time is this? You're still saying this? That little bastard can't even recite the multiplication tables..."

Zhao Dahu grimaced in pain but didn't let go. "Wife, I don't know what will happen to my son in the future, but I know you want to murder your husband right now!"

Wei Shuqing struggled free, snorted, and picked up the spoon, only to find the can gone. She angrily exclaimed, "That little bastard! He even took the can while he was rolling?!"

Zhao Dahu chuckled and said, "Then why are you still cursing him? With that kind of possessiveness about his food, whoever said he was stupid is the stupid one!"

Wei Shuqing angrily threw the spoon on the table, crossed her legs, and said, "I've discovered you're just a bootlicker. You think even Zhao Aiguo's shit smells good?"

Zhao Dahu's expression turned serious. "Then you're talking nonsense. Come on! Let's go to that room. You tell the old man and the old lady what you said!" As he spoke, he stepped forward, grabbed Wei Shuqing's hand, and tried to walk out. Wei Shuqing slapped his hand hard and said urgently, "Let go, let go!"
