"I'll help you." Gu Chen tried his best not to touch her with his hands, since it wouldn't be good if others saw them having physical contact all the time.
I disinfected my hands with iodine, and then used a syringe to prick the blister. It didn't hurt as much as I had imagined; it was just a little chafing on my fingertip. Actually, it felt better when the fluid came out.
In about ten minutes, most of the blisters on my hands had burst.
The salesperson finally found some time to come over. "Have you finished? If you have, apply this ointment three times a day, and it will be better in a few days."
She took a vial of medicine from the shelf and placed it on the counter.
Lin Yuxi paid the money first this time. There wasn't much medicine, so she just stuffed it into her small handbag.
After finishing all that, Gu Chen took Lin Yuxi directly to Xiao Xuejun's house.
Xiao Xuejun's family lives in a tenement building with eight households on each floor. Some of the corridors and doorways are filled with clothes and miscellaneous items.
Gu Chen looked at the door number and knocked on the door.
"Knock knock knock".
Sounds immediately came from inside the house.
"They're here, they're here."
Lin Yuxi stood at the door and heard a woman's voice.
Immediately afterwards, I heard footsteps at the door, which means the soundproofing in this tenement building isn't very good.
The door opened, and the first thing that caught the eye was the emerald green jade bracelet on her wrist, her thick black hair tied back, and she was wearing a knitted sweater and a beige apron.
"Hey, Gu Chen!" The woman's appearance was eight parts similar to Xiao Xuejun's. When she saw Gu Chen, her eyes lit up. Then she turned to look at Lin Yuxi beside him and quickly greeted the two of them.
"Come in, come in! Xuejun has been talking about you these past few days. You're here now, why did you bring anything?"
She quickly and familiarly pulled Gu Chen and Lin Yuxi into the room.
The outside of the tenement building was a mess, but the inside of the rooms was spotless.
"Xuejun, Gu Chen is here." Mother Xiao quickly gestured for the two to sit on the sofa, then called out into the room, "You two sit here first, I'll go get you some water."
Xiao's mother hurriedly went into the kitchen, washed two clean ceramic cups, added some malted milk powder, then made two cups of water. After that, she washed some fruit, cut it up, and placed it on a fruit plate.
"Brother Chen, wait for me a moment, I'll be right there." Xiao Xuejun had just opened the door and peeked out when he saw Lin Yuxi sitting on the sofa. He quickly covered himself with his clothes. If a woman saw that he wasn't wearing any clothes, that would be terrible.
Sitting on the sofa, Xiao's mother smiled and warmly greeted him, "Xiao Gu, don't just sit there. Have some water and fruit. This girl looks unfamiliar. Is she your girlfriend?"
"Cough cough cough..." Gu Chen had just taken a sip of water when he was choked by those words and couldn't reply.
"Don't be shy, it's nothing. After all, you're already twenty-four. Look, Xuejun is engaged, it's time for you to start your own plans." Xiao's mother said with a teasing smile, then slowly added, "How long are you planning to take leave this time you come back from the army?"
Gu Chen's brows twitched. "I've submitted my transfer application, and it should be approved soon. I won't be returning to the unit."
"Not going back to the army? What about your job?" Xiao's mother's expression changed instantly, and she frowned as she looked at him.
Lin Yuxi sat on the sofa and lowered her eyes slightly as she looked at Xiao's mother's strange reaction.
Xiao's mother pressed on, "Is it for work in Xinluo Town?"
