Time flies like an arrow; in the blink of an eye, autumn has quietly arrived.
Lin Yuxi kept the yard tidy and organized. Although it was just a small house with two bedrooms and a living room, the interior was decorated in a warm and elegant manner. If Lin's mother wanted to stay for a while, there would be enough room with two beds and a sofa.
"Hey girl, all the vegetables in my yard are ripe and growing really well. I'll pick some and bring them over for you." Lin Yuxi was watering the plants in her yard when He Cuiping from next door came over and knocked on the door.
Lin Yuxi quickly stood up. "Sister-in-law, I have some vegetables here. You can keep them for yourself."
“I’ve cleared another patch of land in front of my yard to grow vegetables. These bok choy are growing really fast, they’ll spoil before we can finish them. Take them and let Xiao Gu cook them for you.” Without waiting for a reply, He Cuiping put the bok choy directly in the yard. “You can pick them up yourself. I’m still cooking at home. I’ll come back to chat with you this afternoon.”
He Cuiping came in a flurry of activity and left just as quickly.
The family compound is actually quite large, but she usually stays at home and doesn't go out to chat with others much, except for her neighbors. Lin Yuxi lives the closest to her, and she would occasionally bring a bag of sunflower seeds over for a chat.
Sure enough, after lunch, He Cuiping came to visit again.
Lin Yuxi warmly welcomed her into the house and poured her a glass of water.
"Yuxi, I truly consider you my own sister!" He Cuiping said sincerely.
"I heard the army is going to arrange some work for us family members. I'm not very educated, and this is my first time participating in such an activity. I'm a little worried that I'll embarrass myself and be laughed at. So I wanted to ask you, are you free? Are you going?"
Looking at He Cuiping's somewhat embarrassed expression, Lin Yuxi knew that He Cuiping had basically come to the family compound with her. She was unfamiliar with the place and hadn't gone out much. At most, she would just wander around the compound and usually grow vegetables and raise chickens.

As evening fell, sunlight streamed in at an angle through the glass window.
A sound came from outside the courtyard, and Gu Chen walked in carrying a lunchbox.
“I’ll go with Sister He to the event in a couple of days.” She turned and winked at Gu Chen. “I wasn’t planning on going, but it’s nice to have someone with me.”
Gu Chen took off his shoes and put on slippers. "That's good, so you won't be bored by yourself. I've already asked around about the TV, and we should have news about it soon."
Speaking of this, Lin Yuxi suddenly asked curiously, "How much does a television cost?"
She has a TV installed in her space, but it's inconvenient to take it out.
"He didn't say. I asked my boss to inquire for me. It shouldn't be too expensive," Gu Chen replied after thinking for a moment.
It's just the cost of a TV; she can afford more.

Gu Chen would bring his lunch from the cafeteria every day and take a nap there. He would usually cook for himself in the evening.
The cafeteria has a limited daily food supply, and making too much food would be wasteful, so most people still cook at home.
Gu Chen washed his hands and started preparing a meal. The grocery store in the family compound sold fresh fruits and vegetables every day, and he would buy them on his way to get breakfast every morning.
After dinner, the two snuggled on the sofa for a while, then went outside for a walk to digest their food. They went back, took a shower, and lay down on the bed to rest.
Several days passed in a row.
The activities held in the family compound officially kicked off.
Early that morning, He Cuiping got ready and then came to knock on the door.
