Chapter 79 Finding Fault (2/2)

"Hey girl, I'm all done. Are you all tidied up yet?" He Cuiping called out from the courtyard gate.

Lin Yuxi simply tied her hair up and rolled down her sleeves. It was early autumn, so she still needed to wear a coat. Clothes were hanging all over the eaves. The weather was a bit chilly. If Gu Chen hadn't washed his clothes after taking a shower the night before, they probably wouldn't have dried. She only had a few outfits to change into.

"Sister-in-law, do you want to go shopping at the department store in a few days? It's getting cold, and these clothes won't dry. I'm planning to go pick out some clothes for Gu Chen." Lin Yuxi locked the door as she walked.

Upon hearing this, He Cuiping thought for a moment and said, "Sure, I didn't bring many clothes with me when I came. I'll buy a couple for the kids while I'm at it. When are you going? Let me know, I'll come too."

He Cuiping has been here for so long, and Political Commissar Wang has been very busy and hasn't taken her out yet. Now that Lin Yuxi has invited her, she is naturally happy.

She doesn't usually like to gossip with people in the family compound. She doesn't want to offend anyone if the person in question overhears her. She prefers to spend more time with her own family.

In just half a month, she became very familiar with Lin Yuxi.

"Come on, most of those women have left. I don't recognize any of them. Let's just hide in a corner and not bother them." He Cuiping wasn't a gossipy person, which was one of the reasons Lin Yuxi liked being with her.

If it were someone like Zhang Shufang and Zhao Xiaotong, the two of them would definitely have no interaction whatsoever.

Lin Yuxi took her hand. "Let's go, sister-in-law."

Those who lived in apartment buildings also went to the activity center. They didn't know who was hosting the ceremony, and the two of them were completely in the dark. As soon as they entered, they felt a little out of place.

Because most of the others had already started chatting, and some who already knew each other had formed groups.

Suddenly, someone in the crowd patted He Cuiping on the shoulder.

"Sister-in-law, you must be Political Commissar Wang's wife, right?" The woman smiled gently at her. "I am Battalion Commander Zhang's wife. My name is Zou Lengyan. I think you must have just moved here. I live in that building over there. I happened to see you moving from upstairs."

He Cuiping didn't recognize her, so she could only smile awkwardly and say, "Hello."

She held Lin Yuxi's hand, both of them sweating nervously.

"The activities here are divided into several parts. There are many activities, so you can take your time to look at them. Pick up a form at the entrance, fill it out, and if each sister-in-law completes the task and accumulates ten stamps, she can receive a small gift. If she accumulates twenty stamps, she can take home a small bag of flour." Zou Lengyan led them to the entrance to get the forms.

It mainly consists of their own activities, including pitch-pot, calligraphy, and other artistic pursuits. They can also perform dances, and there's a wide variety of activities.

Lin Yuxi didn't accept the gift because she mainly came to accompany He Cuiping, not to show off.

But Zou Lengyan handed her a piece of paper without saying a word, "Commander Gu's wife, have one too. Everyone's participating, so you should join in the fun. It's okay if you don't know how; the main purpose of the activity is for everyone to get familiar with each other, have some fun, and kill some time."

Lin Yuxi looked at the paper in her hand and frowned.

"Girl, just take it. Look, they've all taken it. You should try it too. Maybe you can find a job around here." He Cuiping encouraged her to participate.

As spouses of military personnel, some outstanding wives or wives from special family circumstances are given jobs by the military.

Not only did it solve their basic needs, but it also allowed them to earn some extra money for household expenses.

He Cuiping thought Lin Yuxi was embarrassed, so she whispered in her ear, "We women shouldn't be confined to the house. Even if we don't have a job, we can go out and learn some experience."

He Cuiping was very open-minded. She had no money, no job, and no education. She was just a farmer in the countryside with nothing to rely on. Her son was young, and her husband was busy with work. If they had a falling out one day and he stopped giving her money, the family would be unable to make ends meet, and the family would fall apart sooner or later.

But Lin Yuxi is different; she is still young and has time to find things to do.

"Understood, sister-in-law." Lin Yuxi nodded.

Zou Lengyan handed a piece of paper to each of the women. The activity was simple; they went around in groups and played some simple street tricks. Through interactive games, the women were able to become more familiar with each other.

He Cuiping didn't know how to play. She was already over thirty, and she would fail at least once in every game she played, let alone the team-based interactive games that followed.

"Hey sis, I won't hold you back. Go find someone else to team up with. I really can't beat this game." He Cuiping gave up on this level and found a corner to sit down. "I'll wait for you here. Why don't you go play?"

She knew that Lin Yuxi had been taking care of her all along, and even helped her with words she didn't recognize. She wasn't shameless, so how could she keep holding someone back?

"It's okay, sister-in-law. If we can't play this level, we'll play something else. If we get tired, we'll just give up and watch others play," Lin Yuxi comforted her.

At that moment, a voice rang out from the side.

"Luckily, Political Commissar Wang was a college graduate with a high level of education. I never expected that he would marry a country bumpkin like her."
