Chapter 9 You've messed with me, you've really bitten off more than you can chew! (1/2)

While the train was stationary, Mr. Lin was accompanying the two elderly people to enjoy the scenery in the aisle between several adjacent carriages.

They panicked when they heard that there were armed robbers on the train.

"Quick, go back and find Xixi and Shufen." Grandma Lin immediately told Lin's father to hurry over. Shufen was Lin's mother's name, but the carriage was blocked, and they were stuck inside and couldn't get out at all.

The scene was chaotic, causing a traffic jam. Fortunately, the assailant was subdued quickly, and no one was injured, but it still took them some time to squeeze through.

Train patrols have been increased, with trains running approximately every half hour.

By the time Lin's father and the other two arrived, the matter was basically resolved.

"Xixi, are you alright?" Grandpa Lin asked anxiously, then looked at Lin's mother, whose face was pale, and asked with concern, "Shufen, how are you? Were you frightened?"

"I'm fine." Lin's mother was still in shock. Her hands were icy cold as she tightly gripped her daughter's hand. She asked worriedly, "How could you be so reckless? That knife doesn't have eyes. What if it had hurt you?"

"Mom, I'm fine, don't worry." Lin Yuxi's heart softened, and she hugged her, patting her back to comfort her.

After several hours of heart-pounding anxiety, Lin's mother finally calmed down and exclaimed, "I just didn't expect Xixi to react so quickly."

"When people are pushed to their limits, they will unleash their inner potential," Grandpa Lin exclaimed. "This shows that our Xixi is cut out to be a soldier."

Mr. Lin was very anxious. "I need to be more careful no matter where I go in the future."

Xiao Xuejun stood on his seat. Although he couldn't hear what was being said in front of him, he could roughly guess from their expressions that they were all concerned about the girl.

"I thought that woman was traveling with her mother. It turns out the whole family was on the train. No wonder all the seats were empty."

"Brother Chen, I'm not trying to be mean, but with your cold and aloof demeanor, when will you ever find a girlfriend?"

He turned his head, but Gu Chen had already closed his eyes to rest, not even glancing in the direction he was pointing.

Xiao Xuejun: ...

Two hours passed, and the train police came to their carriage three times.

As lunchtime approached, a flight attendant pushed a food cart over with meals for five people, each consisting of two meat dishes and one vegetable dish, filling the carriage with enticing aromas.

Many people craned their necks to smell the aroma, which did indeed smell quite delicious.

How much is a serving of your food?

"Twice-cooked pork is six cents, stir-fried liver tips are six cents, diced tofu is two cents, and rice is one cent. You can order in carriage number 10." The attendant put down the food and pushed the cart away.

One dollar and fifty cents?

The woman looked troubled and sighed, "Never mind, it'll arrive tomorrow, my dear grandson, just make do with this pancake."

A meal for five people costs seven and a half yuan. If they eat according to this system every day, two meals would be almost equivalent to an average person's monthly salary.
