Chapter 9 You've messed with me, you've really bitten off more than you can chew! (2/2)

"Grandma, but I'm really hungry. This pancake is too hard, and it's hard on my teeth." Although the grandson wanted to eat, he didn't make a fuss and just kept eating the pancake with his head down.

The woman sighed helplessly, patted her grandson's head, and said, "Grandma will cook you some meat when we get back."

Time ticked by, second by second.

Lin Yuxi raised her wrist to look at her watch. Her mother was already asleep beside her. Unbeknownst to them, the family had been on the train for more than 20 hours. The train journey would take more than 40 hours and last for two days and two nights.

The clattering of the train echoed in her ears all night, and she fell asleep leaning back in her chair amidst this noise.

...

When I opened my eyes again, it was already daylight, but the outside was shrouded in fog. The yellow dust and the fierce wind were mixed together. As far as the eye could see, there were only plains. The crops in the fields were sparse and not very dense. The wind and sand blew onto the glass, making it all blurry.

After sitting for nearly thirty hours straight, Lin Yuxi felt some soreness in her buttocks and lower back. For breakfast, she ate a bowl of porridge, two eggs, and a steamed bun, hoping to strengthen her body.

The train announcement rang out overhead.

"Next stop: Xinluo Town. Passengers getting off at Xinluo Town, please prepare to disembark in advance and take your valuables with you."

After a two-day, two-night train journey, we finally arrived in Xinluo Town.

Lin Yuxi pretended to go to the toilet and then came back with several pieces of luggage. After all, it was inconvenient to go to the countryside, so it was best to prepare everything in the car. However, she did not expect that as soon as she left, Xiao Xuejun and Gu Chen, carrying backpacks, were right behind her.

"What a coincidence! We got off at the same station as that woman from earlier," Xiao Xuejun exclaimed.

Xinluo Town is a small town that develops very slowly. Compared with big cities, it is somewhat backward, but at least it has everything it needs.

The public bus station is right next to the train station. It's a small bus that's about two meters long. But after asking around, I found out that there are no public buses from Xinluo Town to Qinghe Village. If you want to go there, you have to walk.

Just then, an old man sat on a donkey cart by the roadside. The old donkey was quite old, and behind it was a wooden plank with two worn-out tires. The old man's eyes lit up when he saw the five people getting off the cart, and he quickly waved and called out, "Is that Comrade Lin Zhenxing?"

The donkey cart was spacious and could probably seat eight adults. After all, the old donkey was getting on in years and could only carry people less and less each time.

Lin Yuxi took out the letter of introduction and handed it to him.

Gu Zhixiang opened the envelope and saw that the letter said "sent down to the countryside," but the targets of the "sent down to the countryside" were mainly cadres and capitalists, which was nothing more than one of them.

He didn't have any prejudice; since he had come to Qinghe Village, he would be a member of Qinghe Village from now on.

"I am Gu Zhixiang, the village head of Qinghe Village from Yongchang Production Team. You must be tired after sitting all day?" Gu Zhixiang invited them to sit on the donkey cart. "But you've come at a good time. My nephew is also coming back today. He should be on the same trip as you. I'll pick him up and we'll go back together."

Xiao Xuejun, who had just exited the station, quickly waved from behind, "Uncle Gu, we're here."

Gu Chen looked ahead and saw a large black bag on his back. When he saw that there were a few more people on the donkey cart, he suddenly paused.

Lin Yuxi looked up, and the two of them locked eyes.

Was it him?
