Chapter 93 I just accidentally bumped into her (1/2)

Zou Lengyan trembled as she covered the blood on her chin, her fingertips shaking uncontrollably.

Lin Yuxi stood with her back pressed against the bookshelf, motionless like a statue. She coldly stared at the other person's distorted face, thinking to herself: This is just a perfect example of the saying, "Evil people will be punished by heaven."

"You mean I pushed you while I was heavily pregnant?" Lin Yuxi's voice was as light as a feather, yet carried a hint of coldness. One hand gently caressed her swollen belly like a soft breeze. "Are you sure? But tell me, which hand did I use to push you?"

Zou Lengyan's crying stopped abruptly as if someone had suddenly choked her, but her tears flowed down like a flood.

A huge commotion erupted from this side, as if a giant stone had been thrown into a calm lake, drawing the attention of everyone who was seated.

One of the middle-aged men, wearing a cotton-padded coat, slammed his book shut, his gaze sharp as a sword. "I saw it all clearly. From the moment this pregnant woman walked in, you followed her like a leech. During your conversation, I happened to be behind your bookshelf. You made provocative remarks and even deliberately bumped into the pregnant woman."

With so many people in the library, someone was bound to see them, and since they were standing right at the edge of the bookshelves, it was obvious they would be seen.

"Exactly!" Suddenly, a female student poked her head out from behind the bookshelf and said righteously, "What other people read is none of your business! Don't think no one saw us; I saw it all clearly!"

Zou Lengyan's face turned deathly pale instantly, as white as a sheet of paper. "I... I just accidentally bumped into her. I was passing by her when I tripped and fell."

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, she tried to argue, but at that moment she felt flustered and powerless.

"I...I'm sorry, I misunderstood you." Zou Lengyan trembled all over as she explained in a trembling voice.

At this moment, her hands seemed to be stained red with blood, and the shocking bloodstains on the ground were the marks left from when she had just hit her chin.

The old man gave Zou Lengyan a meaningful look and snorted, "Comrade, you should hurry up and treat your wound. You don't need to clean the floor."

Zou Lengyan jumped up, clutching her chin, and rushed out like an arrow, only to trip over the threshold and nearly fall.

Once her figure disappeared through the doorway, the atmosphere in the reading room immediately relaxed. The old man picked up a mop and cleaned up the blood on the floor, then took a dry towel and wiped the floor dry, afraid that someone else might slip and fall.

Lin Yuxi turned to the person who had spoken up for her earlier and gave them a grateful smile. "Thank you for what you did earlier."

"It's a small matter, it's all a small matter."

"That's right, she was the one who bullied you first."

Soon the library fell silent.

Lin Yuxi found a seat and sat down. Several books were placed next to her, and she flipped through different materials. In addition to the books, she also brought her own pen and notebook, and copied down some of the more important content.

Inside the library.

The middle-aged man sat back in his seat, where the books piled up to be almost as tall as a child.

The books piled up higher and higher, and his expression grew increasingly impatient.

The old man at the library couldn't help but come over. "Hey Lao Gao, how many days have you been looking? Why haven't you found what you're looking for yet?"

Lin Yuxi was sitting in the back seat and could hear their conversation.

The man named Lao Gao sighed, "I've hit a roadblock at work, so I came out to look for information and read books to see if there's a solution."

The old man curled his lip and said, "I'm telling you, you intellectuals, you bury yourselves in your work all day long. You should go out more. What's the point of just staying in the library? What good does that do?"

He didn't understand the intricacies involved.

Listening to their conversation, Lin Yuxi looked up and glanced at the book, which seemed to be about computing.

Gao Kangcheng closed the book, muttering, "Never mind, I'll go for a walk and put the book back for you."
