Chapter 523: Probing Confrontation
The day before yesterday at the mall, Old Wilson saw Fu Shifan and Fu Zheng's wife getting along very harmoniously. He said this just to find an excuse to take Fu Shifan away.
"impossible."
"Why is it impossible?"
"Don't worry, old man. I have a few questions for you. First, do you think Ilia can take good care of Fanfan given her personality?"
"Secondly, even if you like Fanfan, you are already old and busy with work, and your wife is in poor health. How much time do you have to spend with Fanfan?"
"Third, even if you hand over the matter to Yan Huai and spend more time with Fanfan, you are a generation apart from her. Can you give her the same care as her parents? I believe that if you think carefully, you will know what is best for Fanfan."
Old Wilson was like doing a Chinese listening comprehension test, he would translate silently in his mind halfway and then lose his patience.
"There's no point in saying so much. Let Carol make her own choice and let her stay in Philadelphia for a while. If she still wants to come back, then I will send her back."
"Fanfan is still young. He came to Philadelphia alone and is unfamiliar with the place."
"Aren't I here? I'll take good care of her."
Fu Zheng snorted lightly, "Old sir, you are indeed Fanfan's grandfather by blood, but other than that, you are just strangers who met once."
"If you're worried, just come along." Old Wilson narrowed his eyes. "Are you worried that I'll force Carol to stay in Philadelphia? Or do you simply have no confidence in yourself and are afraid that Carol will never want to come back if she leaves with me?"
"There's no need to resort to provocation, old man. It won't work on me."
"Then call Carol and let her make her own choice! If she's willing to go with me, who are you to stop us from being close as grandparents?"
"I'm her guardian."
"That's why I came to talk to you today, otherwise I would have taken Carol away yesterday!"
The two of them had a test confrontation.
At the strong request of old Wilson, Fu Zheng called the kindergarten teacher.
Then, Fu Zheng drank coffee with old Wilson face to face for twenty minutes.
Twenty minutes later, the kindergarten class was over.
"Go out and play," the teacher said, "Fu Shifan, you stay for a while."
After the other children had gone out to play, Fu Shifan looked up and asked, "Teacher, what did you ask me to stay for?"
The teacher smiled and replied, "Your father called me just now and said to call him back after you finish class."
The little girl's heart was suddenly in her throat.
Grandfather just said that he was at the Fu Building, trying to convince Dad to let her go to Philadelphia.
Now that my father suddenly called me, could he really be convinced?
Is she really going to stay in Philadelphia with her grandfather?
Well... that's fine... Yesterday my aunt told me on the phone that she would be going to Philadelphia on a business trip in two days.
Fu Shifan found a quiet place and called Fu Zheng back.
As soon as the bell rang, Old Wilson immediately put down the porcelain cup and reminded, "Hands-free."
Fu Zheng raised his eyes to glance at him, then pressed the hands-free button unhappily, "Fanfan."
"Uncle? What do you want from me?"
A tender child's voice came from the microphone. Old Wilson heard his lovely granddaughter calling Fu Zheng "uncle". He glanced at him with a hint of pride in his eyes.
It seems that Carol treats Fu Zheng just like this, not even calling him "Dad".
"Do you want to go to Philadelphia with your grandfather?" Fu Zheng asked directly.
She had already refused yesterday.
If Dad didn't want her to go, he wouldn't have called to ask her again.
Dad must have been persuaded by Grandfather and hoped she would change her mind.
Fu Shifan didn't want to embarrass his father, so he replied, "Go ahead."
The moment he heard the answer, Fu Zheng couldn't control his expression in time. He looked stunned and subconsciously glanced at old Wilson.
Old Wilson had a confident smile on his face.
"Fanfan, do you really want to go? If you don't want to go, just tell dad." Fu Zheng asked again.
From what Fu Shifan heard, Fu Zheng wanted her to go, but was afraid that she would be wronged.
So she said, "Dad, I really want to go. Isn't my aunt going to Philadelphia too? I can go visit her."
Fu Zheng: "..."
He really wanted to ask, she was clearly unwilling yesterday, why did she change her mind today?
He acted like a bad guy, but ended up being backstabbed by his own daughter?
Old Wilson frowned slightly when he heard the word "Dad", but it was soon replaced by joy. As for Fu Shifan's last two sentences, he completely ignored them.
Seeing that Fu Zheng wanted to say something else, Old Wilson took the lead and said, "Okay, Carol, it's okay, go and have fun."
Hearing Old Wilson's voice, Fu Shifan was stunned, "Then... Dad, I'll hang up first?"
Fu Zheng: "..."
What else can he say?
A mechanical beeping sound came from the microphone.
Old Wilson had a triumphant smile on his face. He took a sip of coffee and looked at Fu Zheng. "Chairman Fu, you've heard it now. Carol herself wanted to go to Philadelphia with me."
After he finished speaking, he paused, his eyes sharp, "If you dare to stop me again, don't blame me for turning hostile."
Fu Zheng: "..."
It has come to this.
He lowered his eyes, thought for a moment, and said, "Ten days. I will go to Philadelphia to pick her up in person in ten days."
"Ten days is too short, one month."
"Fanfan wants his uncle to hold a wedding in the middle of this month." Fu Zheng said seriously.
Then we can't let Carol go back.
Old Wilson smiled and said, "I didn't agree with this marriage in the first place. Carol doesn't have to participate."
After another round of discussion, the two finally reached a consensus to let Fu Shifan stay in Philadelphia for half a month.
Fu Zheng decided to send her there personally. "When do you plan to return home? I'll arrange your itinerary."
"Just these two days."
"Ilia...?" Fu Zheng raised his eyebrows.
Old Wilson immediately understood what he meant and snorted, "She won't leave."
…
A day later, in the VIP lounge of Jiangcheng International Airport.
When old Wilson arrived from the hotel, his granddaughter was already sitting on the sofa.
She snuggled intimately in the arms of the woman next to her, looking at the tablet in the woman's hand and communicating something.
The big one is tranquil and quiet, while the small one is cute and lively. They complement each other and the picture is particularly harmonious.
If a stranger passed by, they might think they were mother and daughter.
Old Wilson was in a trance for a moment, as if he saw the shadow of his wife when she was young.
He realized belatedly that Carol seemed to have mentioned that Fu Zheng's wife was going to Philadelphia on a business trip.
Old Wilson couldn't help but think of his disappointing daughter. She was not close to Carol to begin with, and she was confused and caused Carol to have a car accident!
Fortunately, Carol is okay.
It would be better to let her reflect on herself in the detention center to prevent her from causing trouble.
He cleared his throat and walked over with steady steps, "Carol, my baby, grandpa is here."
"Grandfather."
Hearing the voice, Fu Shifan raised her head, tilted up her round smiling face, and called out sweetly.
Wen Liang also raised his head.
It turned out to be the foreign old man in the mall.
Old Wilson's eyes swept across Wen Liang, and their eyes met for a moment. Then they both looked away, pretending the other didn't exist.
Old Wilson looked at Fu Shifan kindly and sat down next to her. "We're about to get on the plane. Are you looking forward to it?"
Fu Shifan nodded like a chick pecking at rice. "I haven't been to Philadelphia yet. I heard that my grandfather's estate is really big."
Old Wilson laughed and said, "That's right, you will live in my grandfather's manor, and he will treat you well."
