Chapter 703: Braised Pork

Chapter 703: Braised Pork

Wen Liang also had this doubt when he first met Huo Dongcheng.

She felt that Huo Dongcheng treated her kindly, but why didn't she have his contact information?

She didn't want to bother before, but now she has to investigate.

"So, you want to go to Philadelphia to reinvestigate this matter?"

Before Wen Liang could answer, Huo Dongcheng's phone rang.

He gestured to Wen Liang to wait and answered the phone directly, "Hello? Secretary Chen?"

"Mr. Huo, I just learned from the police that the driver who caused the accident has advanced pancreatic cancer and doesn't have much time left."

A driver who has just been in an accident for a short time runs a red light, which may be a revenge against society, or it may be... being instructed by someone to do something for money.

Huo Dongcheng's expression turned serious. "Go check who he's met recently, who he's contacted, his family, and his accounts. Check everything, and tell the police about it."

"yes."

Wen Liang couldn't hear the content of the call, but he could guess a little from Huo Dongcheng's reply, and his expression became serious. "Mason's car accident was not an accident?"

Did she really guess it right?

Huo Dongcheng put down his phone. "I can't be sure yet, but there are definitely some suspicious things. The driver was a terminally ill pancreatic cancer patient, and he suddenly ran a red light and hit someone... What a coincidence."

He pondered, "Aliang, your suspicion is correct. Whether it is related to Mason's blood type or not, it is better to find out."

"I plan to take some time to go to Philadelphia after I finish my work here. Brother Dongcheng, please write down everything you know about me for me, including my apartment address, restaurants, pharmacies, hospitals, etc. I'll also ask Bella later."

"Okay." Huo Dongcheng sighed, "It's just that I can't leave right now and can't go with you. But I will tell Jingyuan that if you have any difficulties over there, you can always ask him for help."

"Yeah." Wen Liang nodded.

Huo Dongcheng picked up a piece of steamed fish for her and said, "Eat first, the food is getting cold."

The two began to eat.

Halfway through, Huo Dongcheng thought of something and said, "Aliang, have you ever had a checkup in all these years?"

"What?" Wen Liang was stunned.

Huo Dongcheng raised his hand and pointed at his head. "Some people lose their memory after a car accident. As their bodies heal and the blood clots disappear, their memories will slowly return. I see that you've recovered well, and the car accident shouldn't have left any sequelae. After all these years, can't you remember anything from that time?"

Wen Liang paused, then shook his head slowly, his face thoughtful. "I can't remember. I tried hard to recall it before, but it always gave me a headache, so I didn't dare to think about it anymore."

"Why not find time to go to the hospital for a checkup and see what the doctor says."

"Okay." Wen Liang nodded.

After dinner, Huo Dongcheng asked the driver to take Wen Liang to the hotel.

Before getting out of the car, Wen Liang said, "If there is any new information about Mason's car accident, please tell me in time."

Huo Dongcheng agreed.

Every time Huo Donglin fell ill, he had to stay in the hospital for two or three days.

The next day was Monday, and Huo Donglin could not be discharged from the hospital yet, so Lin Jiamin asked for leave for him.

But she can't stay with me in the hospital today.

The Wu family called yesterday afternoon and said they would come to propose marriage and set a wedding date today, so of course Lin Jiamin, the hostess, had to be at home.

Lin Yinuan is already pregnant, so they should either hold the wedding as soon as possible or wait until after the baby is born.

The two families were not planning on having a grand wedding and wanted to keep things simple, so they just went through the process and had the wedding as soon as possible.

When she returned home, Lin Jiamin found that Xue Jun was not there. She asked the maid and found out that Xue Jun had gone out shopping early in the morning.

It's just right that she's not here.

Those who came today included Wu's father, Wu's mother, Wu's uncle, Wu's aunt, Wu's father's cousin and other elders, as well as the person involved, Wu Haoran.

Since no one was from the Lin family, Huo Junshan invited a few members of the Huo family to come and talk.

Huo Junshan and Wu's father, the two heads of the family, had already decided on something, and the discussion went smoothly and harmoniously.

At noon, the two families went to the restaurant to eat together.

At this time, Xue Jun appeared in the hospital, at the door of Huo Donglin's ward.

The servant who was left to take care of the patient had gone off to do something unknown. Huo Donglin was the only one in the ward, sitting at the table with fresh food on it, which showed no signs of being touched.

"Looks like I've arrived just in time." Xue Jun came in with a lunch box, smiling. "Donglin, I asked the servants and learned that you like braised pork and crystal shrimp dumplings, so I bought them for you."

Seeing Xue Jun, Huo Donglin was surprised for a moment, lowered his head and pursed his lips, and asked in a neutral voice, "Why are you here?"

"I came to see you."

Xue Jun came up to him, as if not noticing his resistance. He opened the lunch box, took out the braised pork and crystal shrimp dumplings, and placed them on the table. "I heard from your father that you became ill because you were too emotionally excited and sad. This incident started because of me, and I can't stay out of it. Donglin, I'm sorry. It's all my fault that you were wrongly accused."

Huo Donglin's face felt hot and red, and he stammered, "No, it's okay. I don't blame you."

He knew that his mother would be angry if he got close to Aunt Xue.

He didn't want to make his mother angry, so he decided to stay away from Aunt Xue.

But Aunt Xue is really nice.

He himself had a feeling about the onset of the disease.

When his cousin smashed his game console, he felt extremely uncomfortable and felt a sharp pain in his chest and had difficulty breathing.

It had nothing to do with Aunt Xue, but she came over in person to apologize to him.

"Okay, let's eat together." Xue Jun took out another portion of rice and chopsticks from the lunch box and said as he opened it, "This rice was originally prepared for you. If you have it, then I'll eat it. It just so happens that I haven't had lunch yet."

Huo Donglin lowered his head, his fingers unconsciously scratching the corner of the table.

"Donglin, try this braised pork. I asked the chef to make it softer." Xue Jun picked up a piece of meat and put it in the empty bowl in front of him. The piece of meat was shiny and coated with amber sauce, exuding an enticing aroma.

Huo Donglin stared at the piece of meat and his throat moved.

But he didn't move his chopsticks. He just whispered, "Mom said that braised pork is too greasy and not good for my health."

So he loves to eat braised pork, but he can never have it.

Even though he lived in the school dormitory, he could only choose his own breakfast in the cafeteria. Lunch and dinner were delivered to the school by the maid or his mother.

His classmate thought that the cooking was so delicious because of the nanny in his family. He took a bite one time and said it was bland and tasteless. He asked him how he could eat it.

"But it's okay to eat it occasionally or eat a little." Xue Jun put two more pieces of meat into his bowl. "Here, you can only eat these three pieces. The rest is mine. Is that okay?"

She did not blame or deny Lin Jiamin's actions, nor did she impose her own ideas on Huo Donglin, but gave him a compromise choice.

Huo Donglin accepted it immediately, picked up the braised pork and started eating it with the soft steamed bun.

He hasn't eaten braised pork for a long time. He only ate three pieces, so he will definitely be fine.

The sweet aroma of the sauce exploded in his mouth. The meat was indeed stewed until it was soft and tender, almost melting in his mouth, which made Huo Donglin very satisfied.

Just then, the servant came back with a lunch box.
