Side Story of the Little Elves

Xiao Jin has lived for a thousand years, watching Chawu Mountain transform from a small burial mound into a continuous mountain range.

He counted on his fingers, "One, two... three gold mines, five silver mines, six copper mines, and ten iron mines."

"Ten, ten... what comes after that?"

"Oh dear! Ten is followed by one, I'm so stupid."

Xiao Jin tapped his head and continued counting, "One, two, three... ten, one, two, three..."

He inspects Chawu Mountain every day.

Chawu Mountain is his home, and it is his responsibility as the owner to manage this land well.

The inspection is complete; everything is normal.

Little Gold returned to the cave made of pure gold, picked up a piece of gold, and swallowed it with two quick snaps.

"After eating the gold mine, we eat the silver mine, after eating the silver mine, we eat the copper mine, and when the copper mine is gone, there is still the iron mine. We can never finish eating them all."

Little Jin hummed a lullaby.

The surroundings were golden and desolate.

He has nothing but these mines; he's truly pitiful.

Xiao Jin envies the people down the mountain, who leave home at six in the morning and return at ten at night, making every day fulfilling and interesting.

Unlike him, who eats and sleeps, sleeps and eats.

Boring, so incredibly boring.

"Waaaaah, waaaah!"

I cried.

"I was faking it, I was just kidding."

Little Jin muttered to himself while looking at a gold brick, "Elves don't have tears. If you can cry, you're definitely not an elf. Remember that."

"wrong!"

He listened carefully and indeed heard crying.

It sounded like a cat meowing, coming from outside.

Little Jin curiously ran out and flew to the top of a wooden house. He knocked on the roof, but no one answered.

I knocked again, but still no one answered.

Little Jin ripped off the roof and stuck his head into the wooden house. "Oh dear! It's a little human."

"Hello, little human."

Xie Ming's tears froze on his face.

In the dead of night, the roof was inexplicably blown off, and a golden-glowing thing emerged and began to speak human language.

Seeing this bizarre scene, Xie Ming's breath caught in his throat.

Xiao Jin was puzzled. "Why did you stop crying? What were you crying about? Humans are so happy, what's there to cry about? I haven't even cried yet, and you've already started crying..."

A barrage of questions came crashing down on Xie Ming, leaving him unsure whether to cry or not.

He pinched his thigh hard.

Ouch! That really hurts!

It wasn't a hallucination; I wasn't dreaming.

The little human ignored him, so Little Gold flew down, circled around, and introduced himself generously.

"I'm Xiao Jin, who are you?"

As the strange object approached, Xie Ming held his breath and dared not make a sound.

Xiao Jin: "Are you an idiot among humans? Why don't you speak? I ask you, who are you?"

The village elders say that monsters often appear in Chawu Mountain. What kind of monsters are they?

If we don't say anything, will he die?

Xie Ming swallowed hard. "I... I'm Xie Ming. My dad's name is Xie Liang, and my mom's name is Bai Su. We live at the foot of Chawu Mountain."

He dared not hide anything and told everyone about his background.

“After my father passed away, my house and land were seized by my uncles and aunts. My mother and I were driven out of the house and slept in a hole.”

“My mother gave me all the food and clothes she had. She caught a serious illness from the cold, but we didn’t have the money to treat her.”

"My mother is dying, and I can't save her." Xie Ming wept bitterly. "I'm so useless. I've let her down, I've let down my deceased father... Waaaaah!"

Little Jin had never seen a human cry before; it turns out that humans also suffer.

"Don't cry, don't cry." He comforted Xie Ming in a human-like manner, conjuring a hand to pat Xie Ming's shoulder.

What a monster!

The monster wants to kill him!!

Xie Ming was devastated, and tears streamed down his face.

Xiao Jin spat out a gold brick, saying, "I'm also very poor. I have nothing else, so I'll give this to you. Don't cry."

"They won't even let me cry! I'm about to die..."

Upon seeing what was in front of him, Xie Ming's eyes widened instantly, filled with disbelief.

"This is gold?!"

You said you'd give it to me!

Xiao Jin stuffed the gold brick into Xie Ming's hand, saying, "Elves don't lie, this is for you."

Xie Ming held the brick-sized piece of gold in his hands and subconsciously bit down hard.

That's really hard! He almost knocked out his teeth.

It's real gold; this piece is worth at least 100,000!

Xie Ming was overjoyed, finding the strange thing increasingly adorable, to the point of being incredibly cute.

"Hahaha, I'm rich... Hahahahahahahahaha."

Xie Ming burst into laughter, but tears streamed down his face, making him look like a lunatic.

Little Jin is a curious child, and kept asking, "Are you crying or laughing?"

Xie Ming held the gold brick, unable to cry at all.

"I'm laughing, I'm happy."

Xiao Jin commented honestly: "Your smile is really ugly, uglier than crying."

Xie Ming: "..."

Xiao Jin wanted to try out how to smile, so she imitated him, raising the corners of her mouth and squinting her eyes into slits.

"Hey! Hey! Hey!"

The piercing sound felt like it was scratching at his heart. Xie Ming hugged the gold brick tightly and ran away without looking back.

Xiao Jin has found new fun.

In addition to patrolling Chawu Mountain every day, he would practice his smile, over and over again.

Hehehe! Hehe!

Something seems off.

Elves and humans are inherently different, so it's perfectly normal for them to have some differences.

Xiao Jin was very happy because he had learned to smile.

Hehehe! Hehehehe!

From then on, a legend was passed down in Chawu Mountain.

A monster lives on the mountain, spewing gold from its mouth, and it loves to eat children's hearts.

Not long after, Xiao Jin encountered that human again.

Xie Ming said, "My mother is saved, thank you."
