After coming out of the school, the man and the bear walked into the parking lot next to the school.
Jiang Yiyu took Song Shengsheng to find his car parked in the corner. He opened the trunk, stood behind the car, and with the help of Song Shengsheng, he took off the doll costume he was wearing and put the clothes in the trunk.
He took the balloons from Song Shengsheng, opened the back door, and stuffed all the balloons in.
After all, they were outside, so Song Shengsheng didn't dare to delay any longer and hurriedly prepared to get into the car from the other side. However, before she could open the door, Jiang Yiyu stopped her and said, "I'll drive, you sit in the passenger seat."
"ah?"
Jiang Yiyu closed the car door: "What? I'm not the driver."
"oh."
Song Shengsheng hurriedly took two steps forward, opened the car door and got in without hesitation.
Jiang Yiyu followed closely behind and got into the driver's seat. He handed the lunch box in his hand to Song Shengsheng, who was already fastened with her seatbelt. "Just now at school, didn't we get along quite naturally? Why do you seem so scared of me just because I took off my doll costume?"
Song Shengsheng clenched the plastic bag in her hand and didn't dare look at him. "It's not that I'm afraid of you, I'm just not used to it. I've only sat in the passenger seat of my brother and my father, never in anyone else's. And I never thought I'd be able to sit in yours."
Jiang Yiyu raised his eyebrows slightly and smiled: "It's okay, you'll get used to it in the future."
He started the car, turned the steering wheel, and slowly drove out of the parking lot.
"Brother Yi Yu, where are we going?"
"Take you home."
"I'm not going back to my parents' house today."
"I know." Jiang Yiyu glanced at her with a smile: "I know where you live. Song Ming told me today."
"Oh." Song Shengsheng didn't know what to say to him, and turned to look out the window awkwardly.
While waiting for the traffic light, Jiang Yiyu turned on the radio. The radio was playing a lyrical song with a slow tune and lyrics about unrequited love.
As the song was coming to an end, Song Shengsheng asked quietly, "I remember you loved singing when you were in high school. Why haven't I seen you sing in the past few years?"
"It's not interesting, and there's no song I particularly want to sing."
"oh."
Jiang Yiyu turned down the volume of the radio: "If you want to listen, I'll sing it to you when I have the chance."
"ah?"
Jiang Yiyu smiled and said, "Keep your voice down. Are these the only interjections you can use?"
"No, it's not. I'm trying to get used to being alone with you. Give me some time."
"Why do you have to work so hard for everything? Weren't we just alone together at school?"
"It's different. You were wearing a doll costume and I couldn't see your face."
"Would it make you feel better if I put it on again?"
"Sorry, give me a moment."
"Okay, let's take it slow."
Along the way, neither of them spoke again, and Jiang Yiyu drove the car into the residential area where Song Shengsheng lived.
When he was about to enter the door, he was stopped by the security guard because it was an unfamiliar car. Song Shengsheng lowered the window on his side, and after negotiating with the security guard for a few words, the security guard opened the door and let him pass.
Jiang Yiyu didn't stay for long. Following Song Shengsheng's instructions, he drove the car into the parking lot downstairs of her house.
In the parking lot, a family of three had just gotten out of the car and were talking and laughing as they walked towards the elevator.
Jiang Yiyu turned off the lights in the car and slowly put on a mask.
The car was very quiet, with only the sounds of the two people's breathing and heartbeats in the small space.
After waiting for a while, Song Shengsheng whispered, "When I come back tomorrow afternoon, I'll go to the security room and record a message for your car. That way, next time you drive here, no one will stop you."
"good."
Jiang Yiyu glanced towards the elevator and saw the family of three getting on. He tapped the steering wheel with his slender fingers: "They seem to be going upstairs."
"Hmm?" Song Shengsheng followed his gaze and saw the voice-activated lights in the elevator dimmed. "Then let's go home."
"Go home? Us."
Song Shengsheng stopped unbuckling her seatbelt and looked up at him: "What else? Brother Yi Yu, it seems that you need some time to adapt to our current relationship."
"Indeed." Jiang Yiyu smiled, followed Song Shengsheng out of the car, and quickly walked into the elevator.
The two of them got out of the elevator one after another on the 18th floor and stood at the door of their home. Song Shengsheng was not in a hurry to open the door and go in.
She looked up at Jiang Yiyu, hesitantly took his right hand, and dragged him two steps towards her: "I'll put your fingerprint in the lock, so you can come to my house anytime in the future, or... you can live here if you want."
"Invite me?"
Song Shengsheng nodded as he took his fingerprints. "Didn't we agree to have a home? Buying a new house is a hassle, and we don't have time to oversee the renovations, so it's fine for you to just move in. Don't you want to?"
Jiang Yiyu raised the corner of his lips: "How could it be? I couldn't ask for more."
Song Shengsheng held his hand and unlocked it.
The door opened, and she quickly let go of Jiang Yiyu's hand, walked in, turned on the light, and took out a pair of slippers for him from the shoe cabinet: "This is what my brother wore. You can make do with it for now. I'll buy you new ones tomorrow."
"It's okay, I don't mind him."
Jiang Yiyu changed his shoes and walked into Song Shengsheng's small home. The house was not as big as he had imagined, but it was neatly and warmly decorated. Every piece of furniture was exquisitely decorated, showing that much thought was put into it.
He walked to the off-white velvet sofa and reached out to press the backrest lightly. The soft touch was very comfortable. He could even imagine Song Shengsheng's lazy look when she usually curled up here reading or watching TV. He couldn't help but curl the corners of his lips. Maybe in the future, he could sit here with her.
