Chapter 216 Mr. Chu, you are drunk
Tang Yutong's slender fingers reached out to the Moutai bottle again, and her white fingertips were particularly eye-catching against the dark bottle.
She skillfully poured herself a full glass, and the transparent wine shone an amber hue under the light.
"That's enough."
Chu Ci suddenly reached out and pressed her wrist. The warmth from his palm made Tang Yutong's fingertips tremble. A hint of helplessness flashed in his deep eyes:
"I originally asked you to drink three beers, but who told you to just drink white wine?"
Although he really wanted to get Tang Yutong drunk to trick her into confessing something, Chu Ci couldn't help but soften his heart when he saw her drinking a glass of strong liquor on an empty stomach.
His upbringing wouldn't allow him to do something as ungentlemanly as getting drunk without even letting her eat.
Upon hearing this, Tang Yutong curled up the corners of her mouth into a faint smile of success and placed the wine glass directly on the table. She was just betting that Chu Ci would not let her drink three glasses of white wine, so she chose to drink white wine.
After all, after drinking three glasses of beer, she felt that she didn't need to eat after drinking according to the amount of each glass.
"Mr. Chu is very generous, so I won't be polite to him."
As Tang Yutong spoke, she quickly picked up a piece of tender and smooth tofu and put it into her mouth, letting the bean fragrance dilute the burning sensation in her throat.
Chu Ci finally realized that he had been tricked. He narrowed his eyes and tapped the table lightly with his slender fingers:
"I haven't seen you being polite either."
Tang Yutong just smiled and said nothing, concentrating on the delicious food in front of her.
She chewed it in small bites, her cheeks slightly puffed up like a satisfied cat.
In comparison, Chu Ci seemed absent-minded while eating.
He gracefully picked up a few dishes with his chopsticks, then suddenly picked up the beer glass, the amber liquid swaying gently in the glass:
"Miss Tang, let's drink to our cooperation?"
Tang Yutong had no choice but to put down her chopsticks and poured herself a glass of beer, clinking glasses with him. When Tang Yutong just took a sip of beer, Chu Ci had already drunk the whole glass of wine. Holding the empty glass in his hand, he raised an eyebrow and looked at the remaining wine in her glass:
"Miss Tang, your sincerity doesn't seem to be enough, does it?"
Tang Yutong's slender fingers tightly grasped the wine glass, and her knuckles turned slightly white due to the force.
She tilted her head back and drank the amber liquid in the glass in one gulp. The cold beer slid down her throat, causing her to wrinkle her small nose unconsciously and let out an almost inaudible hum from her throat.
She put down her wine glass and gently wiped the water stains from the corners of her lips with her fingertips:
"Mr. Chu, you're joking. I just think beer takes up more space in my stomach, so..."
"How about white wine? It won't take up too much space."
Chu Ci shook the bottle of Moutai, a meaningful smile on his lips and a dangerous glint in his eyes.
Tang Yutong looked at his smiling face. For some reason, she always felt that Chu Ci had bad intentions. After all, the aftereffect of mixing white wine with beer was even stronger than drinking white wine alone.
But she just drank white wine and now she drank beer, and there doesn't seem to be much difference. It should be fine if she doesn't drink beer from now on.
Tang Yutong thought about it and nodded with a smile: "Okay."
She suddenly smiled, her eyes curved into two crescents, and took the bottle to fill it up for herself.
"It's my honor to have a drink with Mr. Chu."
In the following time, Chu Ci found various excuses to persuade people to drink.
From "celebrating the launch of the project" to "wishing for smooth cooperation" and then to "it's a rare opportunity to get along so well", he made every toast sound very reasonable.
The two of them drank back and forth, and before they knew it, the whole bottle of Moutai was empty.
Chu Ci's originally clear eyes gradually became a little blurred. He supported his chin with one hand and unconsciously loosened his tie with the other hand.
The strange thing is that it was clearly he who set up the drinking party, but now he feels dizzy.
Tang Yutong, who was sitting opposite her, had a faint blush on her cheeks, but she still maintained an elegant sitting posture and could even accurately pick up the smallest peanut on the plate.
"Are you...are you drunk?"
Chu Ci narrowed his eyes, his voice becoming hoarse due to alcohol. Tang Yutong gently shook the wine glass in his hand, and the amber liquid drew a graceful arc in the glass.
She parted her red lips slightly, revealing a sly smile:
"What do you think, Mr. Chu?"
As he spoke, he poured himself another half cup, his posture as calm as if he was sipping tea.
At this moment, Chu Ci finally realized that he might have made a fatal mistake. He thought Tang Yutong was a little white rabbit, but unexpectedly she was a little fox who could drink a thousand cups without getting drunk.
This reminded Chu Ci of the first time he saw Tang Yutong. Perhaps that was her truest self...
Chu Ci suddenly stood up by supporting himself on the table, his body swaying slightly.
His always sharp eyes were now misted over, his tie hung crookedly around his neck, and the top three buttons of his shirt had been ripped open at some point, revealing his well-defined collarbone.
"Tang...Yutong...you...you liar..."
He called her name with a big tongue, and pointed his slender fingers straight at her.
Tang Yutong was confused by what he said. When did she lie to him?
Tang Yutong opened her eyes wide in surprise, watching this usually aloof and noble man who now acted like a child throwing a tantrum.
He staggered around the table and suddenly grabbed her wrist:
"Tell me! Did you...did you secretly pour out the wine?"
Tang Yutong tried to reason with him:
"Boss Chu, I drank it in front of you. You shouldn't slander me like that."
Chu Ci looked at her in confusion: "Then... why aren't you drunk yet? You... didn't you say you can't drink well?"
Tang Yutong explained with a smile: "It's not good. I only drink one pound of white wine. If I drink more, I will be drunk, so I didn't drink it."
"You...you can't call it a pound?"
Chu Ci felt like he had heard a huge joke.
"A pound is considered a very small amount in my hometown."
Tang Yutong's hometown is in the Northeast, and people there are good drinkers. However, her parents came to Beijing to work hard many years ago. Therefore, Tang Yutong was not overly influenced by the strong drinking culture of her hometown.
Today, her drinking capacity is entirely the result of years of working, attending social events, and gradually developing it through toasts and drinks.
"I... I don't care... you... you just lied to me..."
Tang Yutong looked at him throwing a tantrum like a child, and suddenly realized something, and said to Chu Ci:
"Mr. Chu, you've had too much to drink."
Tang Yutong tried to hold him, but he pulled her back and she almost fell into his arms.
The refreshing woody aroma mixed with the smell of alcohol on the man's body hit her face, making her heart skip a beat.
"I...I'm not drunk!"
Chu Ci suddenly raised his voice, startling Tang Yutong. He counted on his fingers like a stubborn child:
"I drank... one, two... no... anyway, I didn't drink too much."
He got stuck halfway through the count, frowned in confusion, and Tang Yutong couldn't help laughing. He quickly took out his phone:
"Let me call a designated driver to take you home."
