Cheng Jin frowned, not daring to let his guard down.
“Jin Yining hasn’t even arrived in City A yet, but I can kill you right now.” Cheng Jin said, the dagger already at her neck.
Shang Ning moved her neck, trying to prevent the dagger from cutting it. "Do you know how bad guys usually die?" Shang Ning said, staring into Cheng Jin's eyes. "Most of the time, it's because they talk too much."
"Is that so?" Cheng Jin said, increasing the pressure on his hand. "Then let's see if your death is due to talking too much."
The blade embedded itself in his skin. Shang Ning frowned, but still maintained his smile, though it was tinged with sarcasm. Just as Cheng Jin tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword, a figure appeared with lightning speed and kicked the man ten meters away.
Shang Ning was turned to the side with someone's arm around her shoulder. Before she could react, someone pressed her head down to avoid an attack from behind. Jin Yining cut the rope on her wrist with a knife and placed a pretty little dagger in her hand.
Shang Ning looked up at Jin Yining, who protected her and swept away several attackers with a kick, then led Shang Ning back to Lin Xue's side.
"Protect your mother." Jin Yining was distracted by what was happening here. Cheng Jin hadn't brought many people with him, since most of them had been sent over there to lure him there.
Cheng Jin got up from the ground, pressed one hand against his knee, and looked at the three people who were surrounded.
"Snow Wolf." Cheng Jin raised his hand to wipe the blood from the corner of his lips, his gaze falling on Jin Yining. "I didn't expect that the old man would end up choosing a greenhorn like you."
Shang Ning untied Lin Xue, who was already terrified by the pain and fear.
After Shang Ning untied her, she suddenly slapped Shang Ning across the face.
Shang Ning: "..."
A slap without warning, followed by Lin Xue's hysterical scream.
Shang Ning was stunned for a moment, but fortunately the pain relieved Lin Xue of much of the force, so the slap didn't hurt too much.
"Are you sick?" Shang Ning rubbed his face, but before he could finish speaking, he saw Lin Xue crying uncontrollably.
Shang Ning: "..."
Shang Ning reached out and hugged the person, muttering to himself, "This is what they mean by 'can't hit you or scold you.'"
Lin Xue was implicated because of her. I guess Lin Xue has never experienced such a shock in her life, and she must be terrified.
"You got away last time, but this time, it won't be so easy." Jin Yining casually tossed the machete he had snatched from the thug into the dilapidated wall.
"In order to make a name for yourself, you're making a big show of things as a new official. The first thing you're doing is using women. The old man's judgment is really not very good." Cheng Jin said, looking at Shang Ning who was supporting Lin Xue. "In the end, Professor Shang is nothing more than a pawn."
Shang Ning helped Lin Xue look at Jin Yining. Jin Yining raised his handsome eyebrows slightly, his fingers clasped together, making a crackling sound, and the corners of his lips naturally curved up.
"Do you think you're worthy?" Jin Yining finished speaking, and before Shang Ning could even see him, he had already appeared beside Cheng Jin and grabbed him first.
Shang Ning looked in the direction of the sound, her mouth agape, and even her heart skipped a beat. She was dazed when she was rescued last time, but this time she saw it clearly.
Jin Yining, that man, really is...
"Release them. There's no need for our grudges to involve others," Jin Yining said, gesturing for Cheng Jin to release them.
Cheng Jin's lifeline was being held in check, as if Jin Yining could strangle him with the slightest movement.
