“I originally wanted you to come back, but it would be dangerous if you did. I’ll go there in a couple of days. Remember, don’t leave that place unless absolutely necessary,” Jin Yining emphasized again.
Shang Ning clicked her tongue, leaned against the windowsill, and looked at the sea outside. "Jin Yining, how are we going to settle the score for you yelling at me last time?"
"Shang Xiaoning, have some shame. Who's being fierce?" Jin Yining sneered. Was he the one being scolded?
Shang Ning: "Teacher Jin, you've gone a bit too far. How can you say a girl is shameless?"
Jin Yining: "Professor Shang, if we had any shame, we wouldn't have said those things just now. Who was it that said I was meddling in other people's business?"
Shang Ning scoffed, "Teacher Jin, as long as we have some sense of responsibility as men, we can't be this petty."
"You're saying I'm not a man?" That's a dangerous statement.
"That wasn't my idea, it was yours..."
"You wait!"
"Beep beep beep..."
This time, Shang Ning looked at the phone that had been hung up and was surprisingly not shocked.
"You should really show your mom that you're still so willful on your way to thirty." Shang Ning chuckled, put her phone aside, and looked at the sea in the distance, wondering where Jin Yining had gone before, and whether she had gotten injured.
It seems he is not injured.
I think I'm alright.
Shang Ning stood there for a while before closing the window, then turned back to the bedside, intending to rest for a bit.
Jin Yining was at home at the moment. After hanging up the phone, she looked at Qin Wei, who was playing a game, and asked, "Are you very free?"
“I’m really free. That woman is gone.” Qin Wei said, looking up at Jin Yining. “So, you were set up? Is there a mole in the base, or have you been being plotted against ever since the car accident?”
Jin Yining placed her phone on the table. "None of them can be ruled out."
"The problem still lies with Shang Ning?" Qin Wei finally finished the game and put his phone aside. "It feels like this was all part of a carefully orchestrated plan, leading you step by step."
Jin Yining sat down behind the desk. "No one could have predicted all of this. The idea of soul swapping is nothing short of mystical. It's impossible that they would have plotted against me starting from Shang Ning's car accident."
"What if she wasn't practicing metaphysics at all?" Qin Wei got up and walked to the table. "In other words, the person she was trying to scheme against wasn't you, but you just happened to get involved, and you revealed your identity to help her."
Jin Yining looked at Qin Wei, "You mean..."
"Shang Ning's soul was swapped intentionally, or it may have just been related to the Ning family. Your involvement was an accident. They didn't expect that you and Shang Ning had another relationship."
Qin Wei's analysis is not without merit, but it involves a very serious issue.
"Do you think soul swapping can be achieved through human intervention?" This technical question remains unanswered to this day, and is even considered absurd.
"Old Jin, I don't believe you haven't thought about the plane crash fifteen years ago and this ship hijacking. Do you not believe it, or are you afraid to think about it?"
The people who led this experiment were most likely Shang Ning's biological parents.
Jin Yining tightened his grip, while Qin Wei slightly curled the corners of his lips. "There was a case recorded in the base's files where someone tried to use chips to tamper with human memories in order to control the leaders of other countries. This case was solved by Elder Chu back then. Decades later, you know better than anyone that when this method is phased out, someone will look for a new one."
