Chapter 578 The Problem Erupts

Shang Ning slept until dark, only to be awakened by the sound of a cup being smashed outside.

Shang Ning sat up abruptly, startled. "Oh no, my cup!"

She and Jin Yining bought those cups together; they were a pair. Jin Yining took one to the army base.

"Nothing I do is right, just because I'm like him. You never care about me."

Just as Shang Ning's hand touched the door, she heard Chen Yiyang's almost collapsing voice. Shang Ning paused in her action of opening the door and did not dare to continue opening it.

"Chen Yiyang, I've put more effort into you than you've put into your brother."

"That's because you always think I'm a pervert."

"Smack..."

Hearing the loud slapping sound outside, Shang Ning subconsciously touched her face; even the sound of the slap hurt.

"Bang..."

The door was closed, and it remained quiet for a while before Shang Ning dared to carefully open the door and go out.

When Shang Ning left, Lian Jingyan was squatting in the living room, crying.

Shang Ning looked at the cup on the ground; it was her favorite one.

She let out a soft sigh of relief, went to get a broom, and asked in a low voice, "Mom, are you alright?"

Hearing the commotion, Lian Jingyan hurriedly turned her back to Shang Ning to wipe her tears and took the broom that Shang Ning had brought. "I'll clean it up. I'm sorry for breaking your cup. I'll go buy you a replacement later."

"Mom." Shang Ning grasped her wrist and led her to the sofa. "Let me tidy up. You rest for a while."

Lian Jingyan didn't speak. While cleaning up the broken glass, Shang Ning glanced at Lian Jingyan, who was sitting there crying, and said, "Mom, my sister has been in a bad mood lately, so her emotions might be..."

“I know her better than you do. She lives a monotonous and self-centered life. I’ve spent over twenty years trying to change her.” Lian Jingyan’s voice was quite hoarse.

As Shang Ning tidied up, she thought to herself, "This understanding is truly different; it's genuine understanding. Even Jing Yan is very rational about other things, but when it comes to this daughter, there's a past she's afraid to touch."

Shang Ning cleaned up the broken glass on the floor and dumped it into the trash can. She then inhaled the aroma of food wafting from the room. "Mom, what did you make? It smells so good! I'm so hungry!"

Lian Jingyan composed herself and stood up. "I made you some chicken soup. Yi Ning told me some of your favorite dishes, so I made a simple meal."

"Thank you, Mom. Life is so wonderful with Mom around."

Lian Jingyan smiled, a rare occurrence, and went to the kitchen to bring out the hot dishes.

Shang Ning took out her phone and sent a message to Jin Yining, telling him what had happened. Whether it was Chen Yiyang or Lian Jingyan, she was just a daughter-in-law and couldn't say anything. This matter still needed to be handled by Jin Yining.

After sending the text message, Shang Ning ran to the kitchen to help, smiling and teasing Lian Jingyan.

So, after Jin Yining finished reading Shang Ning's text message and was pondering the historical issue of his mother and sister, his mother sent him another message.

You have a wonderful wife; I can truly rest assured.

Jin Yining raised her eyebrows slightly. It seemed that there was no problem with the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship. The real issue lay with Chen Yiyang. If this problem wasn't resolved, her mother would keep nagging about it.

Over the years, he has acted as a glue, trying to bring his mother and sister closer together, but now it seems that something still needs to be addressed.

"Teacher Jin, the notice for tomorrow is here."

"Okay." Jin Yining turned to look at her assistant while holding her phone. "Thank you for your hard work. Go and get some rest."
