Chapter 589 The Importance of Family of Origin

Shang Ning immediately made a zipping motion over her mouth, smiling at Jin Yining to indicate that she had misspoke and that he shouldn't take it to heart, since she had already taken it back.

They were planning to visit Lin Xue, but when they arrived, she wasn't there at all; she said she had gone on a trip with friends.

Shang Ning stared blankly at her phone for a long time before finally speaking, "Didn't you just get back? Why did you go out again?"

"What, can't your mother go out and have some fun?" Lin Xue said directly. "Stop calling. She'll be back after the New Year. Go and have a good New Year with the Jin family. Can't you be separated from your mother all the time?"

Before Shang Ning could speak, the call ended. Shang Ning scoffed and looked at Jin Yining, "What did I say? She's living a much more carefree life than me. I was worried she'd be heartbroken if she found out I wasn't her daughter."

“Isn’t this fine? Maybe I just suddenly had a change of heart.” Jin Yining said, staring at the poster, then pinched her temples, feeling a tightness in her head, and pointed to the poster, saying, “I think it’s about time to take this thing down.”

Shang Ning placed one hand on Jin Yining's shoulder. "How beautiful you are. Back then, you two were my ideal women. Now that I think about it, I feel really sorry for Teacher Qin."

Jin Yining: "..."

Shang Ning put her phone aside, still pressing on Jin Yining's shoulder. "Do you think if she had figured things out sooner, Ning Kong's fate would have been different? Actually, most of Ning Kong's tragedies were caused by her. She lived a tragedy for Ning Kong."

Jin Yining raised her hand and patted her hand. "The influence of one's family of origin lasts a lifetime. Ning Baiyuan is the original sin, Lin Xue is the secondary sin, and I am the sin of indifference."

Shang Ning moved her lips, as if to say that she didn't mean it that way.

Jin Yining helped Shang Ning sit down on the sofa. "A tragedy is never caused by a single factor. Just as there is always an antidote within three steps of a deadly poison, there is always a root cause within blood ties in a tragedy."

Shang Ning sat down and looked up at Jin Yining.

“Being a parent is a skill, something we need to learn now. Professor Shang is about to embark on a new learning journey.” Jin Yining patted her head. “Teaching is easy, but teaching people is difficult. The greatest achievement in life is not how many honors you receive, but that your children make you proud.”

Did your mother tell you that?

Jin Yining nodded. It was because of his mother that he became who he is today. So he and Ning Kong were like two extremes, two extremes produced by their original families.

Therefore, he and Ning Kong ended up with two completely different outcomes.

Shang Ning's upbringing falls into the third category. While she won't go to extremes, it's not necessarily better. She'll have many things she can't understand, things she can't figure out, and she might even question the meaning of life. But she also dares to question life and seek new ways out. This is one of the things that makes her better than Ning Kong, and it's also the biggest difference between them.

"So, Professor Shang, the family of origin is of utmost importance. I hope Professor Shang can cooperate with me to complete this not-so-easy task." Jin Yining concluded, the implication being: If you want a divorce, forget about it for the rest of your life.

Shang Ning clicked her tongue. "Teacher Jin's concluding remarks finally hit the nail on the head, but shouldn't the issue now be getting the wedding done first?"
