Chen Yiyang nodded slightly, but clearly didn't care much about He Zhiyan, and was even unfriendly. "Why are you here?"
"Come take some pictures." Shang Ning held up her camera. "I got my room key, I'm going back to my room now." As she spoke, Shang Ning patted He Zhiyan on the shoulder. "Go for it, you can do it."
As she spoke, she didn't even look at the research team; she just turned around and her movements were noticeably faster.
Chen Yiyang watched Shang Ning turn and leave. When the research team came over to ask who it was, He Zhiyan lowered his eyes. Chen Yiyang replied, "My brother's ex-wife, she's here on vacation."
His colleagues said they understood and didn't ask any more questions. They went back to their room together, and He Zhiyan silently followed behind, listening to the name Shang Ning being spoken by them.
Unfortunately, Shangning is now a thing of the past.
Even if she were right in front of them, no one would know that she was the same Shang Ning who seemed a bit arrogant and insisted on researching impossible subjects despite all opposition.
The Ice Hotel is currently the only hotel located within the Arctic Circle. Its rooms are individual igloos, and even the beds are made of tightly packed snow.
When He Zhiyan came in, Shang Ning was packing her things. She simply greeted him and told him to make himself at home.
He Zhiyan leaned against the table, watching Shang Ning organize her camera. "Why did you suddenly think of taking pictures? You didn't like this before."
"Making money is a good thing, and this skill is worth using." Shang Ning said, adjusting the camera strap and looking at He Zhiyan.
He Zhiyan's lips twitched, and these words made his heart ache.
"You clearly have a better option."
Shang Ning chuckled softly and put the camera down. "If I hadn't insisted on conducting that experiment back then, none of this might have happened. Xia You is right. I was too self-centered. I was too arrogant in that field. It's fine as it is now."
Without the glamour of the past, she's just an ordinary person. She has fans online and true friends, and she prefers her current life to the one she used to live.
"Ningning, you shouldn't have done this."
"Then what should I do?" Shang Ning asked back. "In other words, everyone should pay the price for what they do. We all made mistakes, so we are all paying the price now."
He Zhiyan smiled helplessly, understanding Shang Ning's meaning.
Moreover, he and Shang Ning have completely become people from two different worlds.
"And what about you? You've been preparing that plan all along, from the initial idea to the proposal, you've spent five years on it, applied again and again, and now it's on the verge of being approved. Are you really going to give up?"
Shang Ning gripped the cup tightly with her hand holding the water, thinking that using the natural light to treat cancer, a problem that has plagued the world for centuries, might not solve all types of cancer, but at least it would give most cancer patients an option, a low-cost option.
This was her initial motivation for wanting to use light to treat cancer.
As it turned out, she was indeed being delusional.
"By the way, how long have you been here?" Shang Ning pulled himself out of his thoughts and stopped thinking about that question.
He Zhiyan's gaze followed her open suitcase. Inside, besides a few clothes, were books, mostly the latest books on optical theory.
