Chapter 22 Luo Li and Akutagawa 22

Ryunosuke took a look and jumped down to save people. Luo Li did not stop him. She had already recognized who it was. She knew that Dazai Osamu was not a good boy, but that did not mean that she could watch Dazai Osamu drown.

Ryunosuke was blamed for rescuing Dazai Osamu.

"It's not a good idea to delay someone from committing suicide." Dazai Osamu stood there wet, like a poor homeless kitten in the sunset. It would have been better if he hadn't spoken.

Luo Li was biased. On one side was Ryunosuke, who was also being blamed for saving people while being wet, and on the other side was Dazai Osamu, who was blaming her for the crime. She stretched out her hand and said, "Ryunosuke, kick him down."

This time, Ryunosuke didn't do it. Kicking someone into the river is illegal. He was going home. Discussing the meaning of life with others was not something he would do, nor could he give meaning to others' lives. Before leaving, he just said to Dazai Osamu: "People who really want to die will turn around and jump again when they are pulled out of the water."

Since you don't really want to die, why bother yourself and deepen your pain?

"Hey, do you know a lot about death? Precious, mysterious death?" Dazai Osamu followed.

The sea breeze blew, and Ryunosuke shuddered. "Don't you know whether death is precious or not?"

As the youngest cadre of the Port Mafia, he has committed countless murders and taken so many lives. Shouldn't he be the one who knows best whether death is precious or not?

Dazai Osamu's eyes were blank: "I don't understand."

Why do we live? What is the purpose of living? Money, power, fame, sex, if these easily obtainable things become the meaning of life, wouldn’t it be too sad and disgusting?

Is it death that makes one understand all this?

Is death the only way to be free from darkness?

Is it death that can bring him some excitement?

Ryunosuke looked at Dazai Osamu and felt that they had nothing in common to talk about.

When facing death, Ryunosuke might also think: "Why me?"

Dazai Osamu's attitude towards death is indeed novel, attractive and a little bit fearful. It seems to be a toy that is exciting enough for him.

But does he revere death?

Not necessarily. From those rumors, I haven't seen that Dazai Osamu had much sympathy for the dead.

But what can those who despise death find in death?

He clearly knew that death could not free him from this false and disgusting world, and he did not really want to escape.

Another gust of cold wind blew over, and Ryunosuke wanted to pull his clothes together, but it was cold whether he wore his wet coat or not. He didn't want to talk to Dazai Osamu anymore. How could he teach others when he couldn't even figure it out himself?

Watching Ryunosuke leave, Dazai Osamu called out to Ryunosuke: "Can you tell me the meaning of life?"

"No." Ryunosuke simply took a taxi back and paid extra because his clothes were wet. Even though he took a bath and drank ginger soup as soon as he got home, he still had a fever the next day.

Luo Li used magic to make Ryunosuke feel better: "Ryu is still in poor health."

We need to rest and recuperate, but humans are such strange creatures. The more we need to rest, the more we want to go out.

At this moment, Ryunosuke's desire to get out reached its peak.

Ryunosuke glanced at Luo Li secretly.

"No, Ryunosuke needs to rest." Luo Li rejected what Ryunosuke wanted to say without even raising her head.

The next day, Dazai Osamu, who was full of energy and ready to wait for Ryunosuke, waited for several days on the street where Ryunosuke often went shopping, but did not see anyone.

Were you scared away by me?

It's really boring.

It was a week later that Ryunosuke met Dazai again. He was wearing a thick coat and holding a thermos cup, and saw Dazai jumping into the river in high spirits.

Sometimes I don’t quite understand why the gap between people is so big.

Ryunosuke saw that Dazai Osamu looked somewhat happy, although Ryunosuke felt that he seemed to have bad intentions.

"I'm so cold." Dazai Osamu leaned forward pitifully.

Anyone would feel sorry for this 17-year-old kid asking you for help pitifully, but this does not include Ryunosuke. He has seen even more pitiful scenes when he was in the slums. If you pity them, you will only fall into the abyss.

But Luo Li didn't know that this simple and kind fairy looked at the child she met again and again, and wondered whether she should make an effort to pull him into the light. Since they met so many times, it must be fate.

In the end, Ryunosuke and Dazai Osamu sat in a shop on the street. Dazai Osamu was holding a cup of hot cocoa. He took a sip and stuck out his tongue in disgust. It was too sweet and he didn't like it.

Ryunosuke held a cup of fruit tea and drank it slowly without talking to Dazai Osamu. He did not advocate darkness and violence, and the current Dazai Osamu had no appeal to him.

If it weren't for Luo Li, he wouldn't be sitting here drinking tea with Dazai Osamu.

Luo Li's eyes sparkled: "Ryunosuke, I want to bring him out of the darkness."

She still softened her heart, perhaps because Dazai Osamu's pitiful appearance was too deceptive, or perhaps because the princess still loved everyone and wanted to grab every hand that asked for help.

Ryunosuke naturally would not refute Luo Li. If he did not agree with Luo Li to save Dazai Osamu, then he would also be a person not worth saving.

If someone arbitrarily judges that someone does not deserve to be saved, then that person is arrogant to a certain extent.

Ryunosuke was obviously not like that. He agreed with Luo Li's idea and cooperated with her.

After a few more encounters, Ryunosuke and Dazai gradually became familiar with each other and they would talk about many things. Dazai would talk about the mistakes he made at work, such as when he wanted to go to the toilet on the battlefield and stepped into the sewer.
