Chapter 23 Feng Xingyun's lips couldn't help but curl up...

Chapter 23 Feng Xingyun's lips couldn't help but curl up...

Feng Xingyun's lips curled up, and his previously expressionless face broke into a smile. "Childish."

Liu Duanhe walked beside him, ignoring his question, "Did you drive here?"

His eyes followed him closely, and his voice was low and husky, "Mmm."

Liu Duanhe stopped walking towards the parking lot. "Then I don't need to drive. You can drive today."

"Is there a restaurant or dish you'd like to try?"

Feng Xingyun thought for a moment, "Let's eat home-style dishes." Although he wasn't picky about food and could eat anything edible, after eating at the school cafeteria for so long, he still preferred stir-fried dishes that had a homey, homely feel.

He nodded and said calmly, "In that case, let's go directly to my house and have the housekeeper come over to cook. That would be convenient."

Looking him up and down, Liu Duanhe frowned and said, "Why are you only wearing a hoodie and jeans? Your voice sounds a little hoarse. Don't catch a cold."

"Do you have a coat in the car?"

Feng Xingyun's eyes widened in surprise, still remembering Liu Duanhe's previous words, "Going to your house? Isn't that a bit too sudden? I'm not ready."

Liu Duanhe glanced at him with amusement. "It's not where my parents and grandfather live, it's the apartment you stayed in last night."

Liu Duanhe will only bring someone back when things have reached the point of discussing marriage; he has no such intention at the moment.

Feng Xingyun breathed a sigh of relief, but also felt a little inexplicably disappointed.

After this misunderstanding, the tension of being invited to Liu Duanhe's apartment again eased considerably.

Remembering what Liu Duanhe had just said, Feng Xingyun pursed his lips and said, "There's a coat in the car. It'll be fine to be out in the wind for a while. The voice is because I haven't had much water all day."

He walked towards the parking lot, with Liu Duanhe trailing behind him by about half a step. Curious, she asked, "What did you do outside today?"

Feng Xingyun paused almost imperceptibly. Of course, he couldn't say that he had spent a whole day at the auction house to buy him a gift. It would be fine if he had bought it, but the main problem was that he didn't know what Liu Duanhe actually liked.

He seems to be able to chat with anyone, and apart from his excessive germaphobia, all his likes and dislikes are subtle and not revealed.

Compared to Liu Duanhe's understanding of him, which seemed to include his dietary preferences, Feng Xingyun knew almost nothing about him. Thinking of this, he couldn't help but feel a little frustrated.

His eyes darkened, and he changed the subject, saying vaguely, "I didn't have class, so I just wandered around outside. It was pretty boring."

Liu Duanhe chuckled and teased, "I've worked a whole day, your life is much easier than mine. How about we switch and I get to experience some boring strolling around?"

He pressed the car door button and opened it for Liu Duanhe first, saying, "If you're not afraid that I'll drive your company into bankruptcy and liquidation, then I can."

Liu Duanhe raised an eyebrow, but didn't rush to get in. "Has anyone else sat in your passenger seat?"

He lowered his hand from the car door. "Don't worry, this Cullinan was just washed yesterday." Feng Xingyun didn't dare say the last part aloud, "To be your ancestor's driver."

He added, "To date, no one but you has ever ridden in my car."

Liu Duanhe nodded in satisfaction, then asked sharply, "Even your ex-girlfriend didn't ride it?"

His obsession with cleanliness is comprehensive and multifaceted. Surprisingly, Liu Duanhe has never had a lover to date. He himself has never been in a relationship, so he requires his lover to belong solely to him from head to toe, and to be among the top tier of cleanliness and hygiene requirements.

According to his memory, Feng Xingyun was clean, which was not a problem. The only problem was his daily routine, but fortunately, it could be corrected.

However, since he hadn't obtained Feng Xingyun's information yet, he didn't know whether Feng Xingyun had ever been in a relationship. They were roommates in college, and Liu Duanhe was certain that he hadn't, but he wasn't sure about high school.

Feng Xingyun knew how severe his mysophobia was, so he didn't find the question strange. He said helplessly, "Don't worry, I've never been in a relationship, so I don't have any ex-girlfriends."

Liu Duanhe patted his head and said with satisfaction, "Very good."

That being said, he only ever believed about a third of what others said. Based on his observations of Feng Xingyun's personality, he could barely believe half of what Feng Xingyun said, and the rest he would have to check with the investigation data.

Feng Xingyun paused for a moment before walking around the front of the car, getting into the driver's seat, starting the engine, and asking, "Is your seatbelt fastened?"

Liu Duanhe nodded. "By the way, what would you like to eat tonight? I'll tell Aunt Song."

Feng Xingyun named a few dishes, and Liu Duanhe added a few more that he wanted to eat, and sent them all to Aunt Song.

Just as he was about to step on the gas, his right hand was suddenly grabbed.

Feng Xingyun looked down and saw Liu Duanhe leaning closer to him, his two fair and jade-like hands holding his slender yet powerful wrists, and putting on a cool white gold and black rope bracelet.

The slightly protruding knuckles, accentuated by the black straps, exuded a simple yet sexy and carefree charm, making his otherwise casual outfit, which relied entirely on his face and physique, a bit more sophisticated and stylish.

Liu Duanhe looked at it, fiddling with his large, wheat-colored hands. "Not bad. I knew it would suit you when I first saw it."

Feng Xingyun's attention, however, was entirely focused on Liu Duanhe's exceptionally bright phoenix eyes and full, rosy lips up close. He then looked away.

She said softly, "Why are you suddenly giving me a gift?"

Liu Duanhe adjusted the length of the bracelet, making it a bit longer. "You forgot what I promised you when I went to watch your basketball game last time?"

From Feng Xingyun's perspective, Liu Duanhe looked up at him almost as if she were buried in his arms, intimate and tender. Although they were not actually close, how far apart could they be when they were sitting in the same car?

His heart pounded anxiously, urging him to do something, or at least say something. Feng Xingyun swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing, his voice almost hoarse.

He only said, "So that's how it is."

He had never been so acutely aware of his lack of eloquence, and he hated his tongue-tiedness, even though he himself didn't know what he wanted to say.

I have a vague feeling that I shouldn't say this, but what should I say?

Liu Duanhe put down his hand, returned to the passenger seat, and quietly exhaled. He thought Feng Xingyun was about to kiss him because of that look in his eyes, but Liu Duanhe felt that it wasn't progressing enough and he couldn't accept it.

Fortunately, Feng Xingyun did nothing in the end, otherwise Liu Duanhe wouldn't know how to refuse.

He thought that Feng Xingyun should calm down on his own, so Liu Duanhe didn't pay attention to him the whole way and simply closed his eyes, leaned back in his chair, and rested.

When Feng Xingyun arrived at the entrance of the residential area, he calmly drove to clear his jumbled thoughts.

He wondered if this joy stemmed from his friend's concern for him.

Feng Xingyun didn't get an answer because he had never had any close friends. The only thing he could learn from was the surprises his parents would give him from time to time. Although they didn't give him a large amount of pocket money, they never missed out on his food, clothing, shelter, and occasional gifts.

He was always happy to receive and open the package, but it seemed different when Liu Duanhe gave it to him.

He silently pondered the differences, before he could fully analyze them.

"Ta-da!"

Then the car window was knocked on.

After recognizing the person as a security guard from the residential complex, Feng Xingyun rolled down his car window.

The security guard was young and looked about the same age as them. He stepped forward and said, "Hello, unfamiliar vehicles are not allowed to enter our community."

“My friend lives here, let’s go in together.”

He leaned back to the side, revealing Liu Duanhe's face. Seeing that Liu Duanhe had his eyes closed, he spoke in a breathy voice.

After the security guard saw Liu Duanhe's appearance clearly, he recognized him. He glanced at Feng Xingyun and lowered his voice, "Okay, then register him."

Liu Duanhe hadn't expected that he would actually fall asleep while he was just resting with his eyes closed. He had indeed gone to bed too late last night. If the security guard hadn't knocked on the car window, he might have been able to sleep through the entire journey while Feng Xingyun was driving smoothly.

After Feng Xingyun parked in the garage, he was just about to tell Liu Duanhe to go upstairs to sleep when Liu Duanhe opened his eyes, picked up his phone, glanced at it, and laughed, "Auntie has already prepared half of the dishes. Let's go upstairs quickly, I'm starving."

His strikingly beautiful face softens dramatically in a more everyday context, making him appear as approachable as an ordinary boy next door.

Feng Xingyun couldn't help but be infected by his ease and smiled as well. His sharp and cold features no longer looked unapproachable. "Then let's go up quickly."

How could they be so cute? He thought, they must become best friends.

Feng Xingyun followed him upstairs as if they knew the way well. The timing of their opening was perfect. As soon as they entered the house, they were greeted by the delicious aroma of food. Aunt Song brought out the last of the soup and dishes and said with a smile, "Perfect, all cooked."

Aunt Song is a friend of Aunt Zhao, who watched him grow up. She doesn't do long-term home-based cooking, only short-term jobs. After he moved out, he would invite her to cook at his home whenever he wasn't eating out.

He doesn't allow outsiders here. Aunt Song set the food on the table, packed her things, and left.

Liu Duanhe took a can of coconut juice from the liquor cabinet and turned to ask Feng Xingyun, who was sitting at the table, "What would you like to drink?"

The decorations, drinks, and everything else here were all arranged by Secretary Wei according to his preferences and are updated regularly. Liu Duanhe quite likes the feeling of being completely clueless every time he opens the cabinet, filled with anticipation and curiosity.

Secretary Wei, who keenly sensed his psychology, would later usually put out half of the drinks he hadn't tried and half of the drinks he had tried, and let him open the blind box.

Of course, this does not conflict with his competitive spirit and desire for control over the things he wants to strive for and care about.

Feng Xingyun doesn't drink beverages much, so he couldn't think of anything to drink for a moment. He walked over to Liu Duanhe and looked carefully into the cabinet.

His tall figure completely obscured Liu Duanhe, and Feng Xingyun was completely unaware of this subconscious desire to get closer.

Liu Duanhe was completely out of sight from behind Feng Xingyun, as if she had fallen directly into his embrace.

Liu Duanhe subtly moved away, making room for him.
