Scored three goals
It took Cheng Yayin a long while to recover from her shock. She stammered, "What are you doing?"
Hearing her voice, Pei Songsheng lowered himself even lower, as if in awe, and said in a serious tone, "I obey the master's order and kneel before the bed."
Cheng Yayin's eyes suddenly widened. Did she hear it right? Pei Songsheng called her... Master?!
This name, as well as the current situation, struck Cheng Yayin as very familiar. She instantly understood the reason, and as if all the strength had been drained from her body, she collapsed backward onto the bed.
Her third story, "Dream of Swords," is here.
Although Cheng Yayin was born into a Confucian family, she has always been fascinated by the stories of the underworld. "Sword Dream" tells the story of a young lady from a martial arts sect.
The eldest daughter is ambitious and determined to take over the sect by annihilating her brothers and sisters who are trying to seize power from her. She strives to revive the sect and unify the martial arts world. She overcomes all obstacles and gains everything she wants, but she is also deserted by her friends and family. Only a horse slave remains loyal to her.
The eldest lady thought the slave was good-looking and took him in as a servant in her tent. However, she also felt that the slave was of low status. Even when she was attracted to him, she refused to admit it. To hide her feelings, she often whipped and tortured him. Every night after using him, she would kick him off the bed and make him kneel by the bed all night.
Needless to say, Pei Songsheng regarded himself as that poor horse slave.
The sound of her falling onto the bed caused Pei Songsheng to look up. Seeing her weak and listless look at the ceiling, his heart tightened. He knelt forward and asked anxiously, "Master, are you feeling unwell?"
Cheng Yayin glanced at him and said weakly, "Don't call me that."
Didn’t Pei Songsheng just take the antidote today? Why did he suddenly have another attack?
Remembering the words "Effectiveness unknown" written on Doctor Wang's note, Cheng Yayin suddenly became nervous - could there really be something wrong with this antidote? Pei Songsheng's condition seemed to be getting worse the more he took it.
The medicine was made with the highly toxic herb Gelsemium elegans. If it only served to detoxify, it would be fine. However, Cheng Yayin was worried that it might cause further harm to Pei Songsheng's body. She quickly stood up, approached him, and asked, "Are you feeling unwell?"
She leaned too close to him, and Pei Songsheng's heartbeat instantly accelerated. He couldn't even hear what she asked.
Cheng Yayin became anxious, grabbed his arm, and dragged him onto the bed without saying a word.
As soon as he touched the soft quilt, Pei Songsheng jumped up as if on fire, and said incoherently: "This, this is against the rules."
Cheng Yayin caught him as he tried to escape, and pulled him back like a tug-of-war. "What's the big deal? You've been there countless times."
This sentence made Pei Songsheng blush from his face to his neck. He no longer resisted and let Cheng Yayin pull him to sit on the bed. However, he obviously misunderstood something, because he began to undress as soon as he got on the bed.
He was so reserved before, but his movements of undressing were very skillful. Before Cheng Yayin could react, he had stripped her bare chest in a few seconds. Cheng Yayin exclaimed, covering her eyes and said, "That's not what I meant!"
Pei Songsheng said "Oh" and quickly put his clothes back on with a blushing face.
Cheng Yayin saw through her fingers that he was dressed neatly, so she rushed over to pat his face, touch his forehead, flip up his eyelids, and touch him all over.
Pei Songsheng didn't understand what was going on, but he obediently let her look at him and touch him, trying his best to suppress his increasingly rapid breathing.
Cheng Yayin didn't notice anything wrong with him, so she put her face against his chest to listen to his heartbeat.
This made her realize something was wrong. Pei Songsheng's heartbeat was as fast as a wild horse, beating against her eardrums again and again, and it seemed to be getting faster and faster, as if it was about to burst out of her chest.
She was shocked and looked up at Pei Songsheng, only to find that his eyes were closed, his breathing was rapid, his Adam's apple was rolling, and his expression was full of embarrassment at having his secret discovered, and he seemed to be trying hard to suppress some impulse.
She immediately understood the reason and distanced herself with a blushing face.
Such a contact was indeed a great test of Pei Songsheng's willpower. After all, in her storybook, the two of them would often fight for eight hundred rounds.
This was not a solution. Although she saw that Pei Songsheng had no other abnormalities except that he was unconscious, she was not familiar with medicine after all. She had to ask Doctor Wang to check in person to see if there was anything wrong with him.
Cheng Yayin jumped out of bed, put on her clothes, and hurried to the outer room to call Lan Yue, asking her to go find Jian Zhu.
Through the door, Cheng Yayin whispered that Pei Songsheng had suffered another attack of the poison, and asked Jian Zhu to immediately go to Doctor Wang's house to deliver a letter, asking him to come and see as soon as possible.
Jian Zhu was also very anxious, but he said that when he went to get medicine from Doctor Wang today, he heard him say that His Majesty had taken a group of royal relatives to Xiling Mountain for hunting, and had appointed him as the accompanying doctor. It was estimated that they had already set up camp in Xiling Mountain and would stay for at least three to five days.
Three or five days wasn't a long time. If Pei Songsheng was experiencing a common attack of the Soul-Separating Powder, Cheng Yayin could afford to wait. However, it wasn't clear if this attack was caused by the medication. Recalling the tragic death of the assassin under the Gelsemium elegans that day, Cheng Yayin feared that waiting any longer would put him in greater danger. She immediately ordered Jian Zhu to arrange for carriages and manpower, and they would depart for Xiling Mountain early the next morning.
Jian Zhu took the order and left. Cheng Yayin returned to the inner room with a heavy heart. When she left just now, she had specifically told Pei Songsheng to wait obediently and not go anywhere. Now her words were like an imperial decree to him. He really sat on the bed and waited, even maintaining the same posture.
Cheng Yayin found his fearful look somewhat amusing, and the haze in her heart was somewhat dispelled. She walked over and pushed him down on the bed, "Why are you standing so straight? Are you playing a puppet show? Go to sleep."
She also kicked off her shoes, stepped over Pei Songsheng, and lay down on the inside of the bed.
As soon as her soft body touched Pei Songsheng's arm, Cheng Yayin immediately felt his whole body tense up and he moved towards the bed, as if trying to escape.
Cheng Yayin grabbed his arm and said, "Don't leave. Sleep here."
She didn't use any strength in her hands, but Pei Songsheng felt as if he had been acupunctured. He stiffened his body and said, "But before..."
"Before, that was before. Anyway, I won't do this to you." Cheng Yayin was afraid that he would leave again, so she simply hugged his arm and muttered, "Go to sleep quickly. We have something important to do tomorrow."
With the familiar source of heat lying beside her, Cheng Yayin fell asleep quickly, but it was a pity for Pei Songsheng. His arms were held tightly by her, and he dared not move, keeping his eyes open until dawn.
The next day, when Cheng Yayin woke up, she saw the two dark circles under Pei Songsheng's eyes. She knew that he must have not slept all night. She was a little angry, but she couldn't bear to say anything to him. The thought that he was very pitiful prevailed, and she just wanted to find Doctor Wang quickly and cure him as soon as possible.
The carriage was ready, and Pei Songsheng didn't ask Cheng Yayin where she was going. He would just follow her wherever she went. When he got to the carriage, he took the reins and started to drive, leaving Jian Zhu beside him stunned.
Cheng Yayin quickly snatched the reins from his hand and put them back into Jian Zhu's hand, then pushed him towards the car: "Go in."
Pei Songsheng naturally would not disobey any of her requests, but after getting in the car, he did not dare to get too close to her. With such a big body, he huddled in the corner next to the car door, as if he couldn't wait to squeeze out through the gap.
Cheng Yayin waved at him amusedly: "Come sit closer, I won't eat you."
Pei Songsheng became even more reserved, lowering his head and saying, "As a humble person, I am already presumptuous to ride in the same carriage with my master. How dare I get so close and offend him?"
"Stop." Cheng Yayin rubbed her brows with a headache. "Don't call me 'Master' or 'Master' anymore. I don't like it."
Pei Songsheng finally looked up at her, his eyes confused: "Then how should I address the master?"
"Don't call yourself a villain anymore, you're not..." Cheng Yayin was stuck. Forget it, it was hard to explain to Pei Songsheng now, so she ignored it and said, "Don't I have a name? Call me by my name."
Pei Songsheng blushed: "Master, how dare I call you by your maiden name?"
Cheng Yayin thought about it and since that wasn't her real name anyway, she said, "Then you can call me A Zheng."
Pei Songsheng was even more confused: "When did the master get this name?"
"Don't worry about it. Just call me that. Not everyone can call me that."
Under her expectant gaze, Pei Songsheng opened his mouth tentatively: "Ah, ah..." For a long time, the word "zheng" was like a small insect with long legs stuck in his throat, and he couldn't say it no matter what, making his face turn red.
Seeing how embarrassed he was, Cheng Yayin didn't force him to speak. Pei Songsheng turned his head away, feeling a little uneasy, as if he felt that he had upset her.
Cheng Yayin didn't notice his small mood; she was concentrating on how to meet with Imperial Physician Wang when she reached Xiling Mountain. The royal hunting grounds were strictly guarded, and if the patrolling guards discovered their whereabouts, trouble would surely ensue.
Pei Songsheng noticed that his master had been in a bad mood since last night. He didn't dare to ask her directly, but he didn't want her to sink into despair alone, so he asked tentatively, "Where are we going?"
Cheng Yayin came back to her senses and said, "Go find someone who can cure your illness."
Pei Songsheng: "Am I sick?"
"Yes, you are sick." Cheng Yayin's eyes fell on him with melancholy, "You are so sick that you don't look like yourself anymore."
Pei Songsheng was very puzzled, but he said, "Well, the master said I was sick, so I am sick."
Cheng Yayin glanced at him and he immediately changed his words: "Don't call me master, call me ah, ah..." He kept saying "ah" for a long time, as if he couldn't sneeze. Cheng Yayin chuckled.
When she smiled, Pei Songsheng felt relieved and curled up the corners of his mouth.
Xiling Mountain wasn't far from Shengjing, only about an hour's drive away. Cheng Yayin chatted with Pei Songsheng intermittently, and the journey didn't seem long. But halfway through, the carriage suddenly stopped. Cheng Yayin heard the horse neigh as the reins were urgently pulled, and she lunged forward uncontrollably. Pei Songsheng had to hold her back, otherwise she would have been thrown out of the carriage.
Cheng Yayin steadied herself and was about to ask the driver Jian Zhu what was going on when she heard him shouting from outside: "Who is blocking the road here? Get out of the way!"
Cheng Yayin's face changed. She pushed Pei Songsheng away, lifted the curtain and looked out.
The carriage was parked on a narrow mountain road, only wide enough for two carriages to run side by side. However, a group of people suddenly stopped in front of their carriage. They were all holding weapons and had bandit-like expressions on their faces.
The man in the lead was riding a tall horse, with a face full of flesh, and it was obvious that he was not a good person. When he saw Cheng Yayin in the car, his eyes immediately glued to her, revealing a sharp gleam.
