Chapter 3: Opposite Door
As soon as Zhou Jingzhan returned to the office, someone came in to look for him. They were two new interns, a boy and a girl. The boy was named Xie Jingtian and the girl was named Yang Han. Both were undergraduates from Peking University.
After introducing themselves, the two of them were more enthusiastic than the other, scrambling to hand over the things they were holding to Zhou Jingzhan: "Teacher Zhou, this is the breakfast I brought you. I'm sure you didn't have time to eat."
Not to be outdone, Yang Han gave the coffee to Zhou Jingzhan: "Teacher Zhou, this is the coffee I brought you."
Zhou Jingzhan, always aloof, put the coffee on the table. Although he didn't refuse the other person's face, he couldn't really be said to be enthusiastic: "Okay, now that you are here, do your job well. I don't have time today, so you should familiarize yourself with the environment first."
As expected, the big guys have no time to train the rookies. Yang Han and the others felt both regretful and proud. What they didn’t know was that Zhou Jingzhan was just too lazy to move.
"What about me?" Chu Yunqi's voice came from behind.
Zhou Jingzhan had a headache. He couldn't face Chu Yunqi, but he couldn't do such a wicked thing as pushing the big trouble onto others. After thinking it over, he decided to let Chu Yunqi down first: "If you have nothing to do, go to the ward."
Thinking about the consequences of letting Chu Yunqi do this thankless task, Zhou Jingzhan sighed and said helplessly: "Forget it, just stay here and do whatever you want. If you have work matters, go to the head nurse, or Director Qin Jingda, he is a cardiac surgeon."
"Then why are you going?"
"I..." Zhou Jingzhan found that he couldn't justify himself, so he found an excuse to get Yang Han and the other man to leave before explaining: "I have been working overtime for the past two days. After checking the room today and watching for a while, I will go home."
Chu Yunqi figured he would be home before lunch, so it wouldn't be a big deal for him to stay in the hospital. So he decisively said, "I want to take a leave."
Asking for leave right after starting work, Zhou Jingzhan raised an eyebrow and asked in a very formal manner: "Reason."
"The smell of disinfectant makes me sick."
Zhou Jingzhan had only seen Chu Yunqi, who could come up with such an unreasonable reason so confidently. He retorted, "I haven't seen you missing any limbs in all these years."
Chu Yunqi didn't seem to plan to wait for his opinion and was already taking off his white coat. He had just arrived and had no tasks, so asking for leave wouldn't affect anything. Zhou Jingzhan didn't stop him and casually said, "You'll have to deduct your salary."
"Deduct it as you like, what can I do with this salary?" Chu Yunqi couldn't help but complain, then said while tidying his clothes: "I didn't drive."
After being together for so many years, Zhou Jingzhan naturally understood what he wanted to express. It was nothing more than asking him to take him home. In the past, he would have agreed without hesitation.
But things are different now, Zhou Jingzhan deliberately didn't say anything.
Chu Yunqi said stiffly: "Send me home."
"Take a taxi yourself." Zhou Jingzhan rarely refused Chu Yunqi.
Chu Yunqi felt a chill in his heart. He didn't say anything else and left the office alone.
Afraid that he would be unhappy, Zhou Jingzhan subconsciously wanted to compromise, but this time he couldn't speak.
The two of them are not even friends now. It has nothing to do with her whether Chu Yunqi is in a good mood or not, and she doesn't need to coax him. Besides, now that Tao Mo is by her side, it would be unfair to Tao Mo if she still considers Chu Yunqi and puts him first in everything.
Zhou Jingzhan warned himself to keep a distance from Chu Yunqi.
Chu Yunqi had just returned to China and had not yet solved the problem of the car. Fortunately, he was not far from home, so he planned to walk home.
A three-minute walk from the hospital, a black Audi A6L was parked on the side of the road. Chu Yunqi glanced at the license plate number. It was Zhou Jingzhan's car, and he hadn't changed it in all these years. He was really loyal.
Chu Yunqi guessed that he deliberately parked far away from the hospital in order to keep a low profile. He could understand that it was not easy for Zhou Jingzhan to achieve what he has today at his age. If he had no background, it would be fine. But if people knew about Zhou Jingzhan's family background, all his achievements would be distorted.
Others may not know, but Chu Yunqi, who grew up with Zhou Jingzhan, knows it better than anyone else. Zhou Jingzhan is definitely the son of a high-ranking official. He usually dresses and behaves very low-key. To put it bluntly, he is afraid of being gossiped about.
There was a lot of traffic and people around, all of whom were seeking medical treatment from all over the place. They had no time to look over here, so Chu Yunqi quietly walked to the side of Zhou Jingzhan's car.
He originally wanted to take off his watch, but after thinking about it, he felt that the watch was much more expensive than the car, so he put his hand on the cufflinks.
Chu Yunqi walked from the front of the car to the back with the cufflinks in his hand, and Zhou Jingzhan's car also had a shocking scratch.
Looking at his masterpiece, Chu Yunqi smiled with satisfaction and went home contentedly.
Before Zhou Jingzhan went home, he specifically found Ji Hong and said, "My two interns have just arrived. Please take care of them."
"Okay, don't worry, I'll make sure it's clear for you."
When I got to the car, I found a scratch more than one meter long on it.
Who is so uncultured as to run away after stealing the car? Zhou Jingzhan cursed inwardly and sent the car for repair angrily.
After returning home, he slept until after four in the afternoon.
It was around four o'clock when Chu Yunqi knocked on the door of Zhou Jingzhan's house across the street.
The moment Zhou Jingzhan opened the door, he froze in his place: "Why are you here?"
"I live across the street." Chu Yunqi replied concisely.
Zhou Jingzhan was in a state of great confusion, and Chu Yunqi took advantage of his daze to squeeze into the house.
"What are you doing!" Zhou Jingzhan yelled.
Chu Yunqi leaned on the cabinet with his hands, looking weak: "I haven't eaten anything since last night. You can't just watch me starve to death."
It's understandable that he can't cook, but not eating is really what he deserves. Zhou Jingzhan sneered, "Whether you're hungry or not has nothing to do with me. Get out."
"No, you cook for me."
Zhou Jingzhan was so angry that his lungs were about to explode. He knew that Chu Yunqi was the kind of person who would never give up until he achieved his goal. Thinking that Tao Mo would come later and it would be difficult to explain if he saw him, he had no choice but to send Chu Yunqi away before Tao Mo came, so he agreed reluctantly.
In this situation, Zhou Jingzhan was not in the mood to cook properly, so he took out a box of frozen dumplings and put them in the pot to cook.
Chu Yunqi never went into the kitchen. Even if he wanted to say a few more words to Zhou Jingzhan, he didn't go in. He sat on the sofa and shouted, "I want to drink some water."
Zhou Jingzhan walked out of the kitchen and replied to a message on his phone, saying, "There's no hot water. Go back to your own house and drink it."
"It's okay, cold ones will do." Chu Yunqi said as he prepared to get up and get it from the refrigerator.
Before Chu Yun could even take a step forward, Zhou Jingzhan suddenly put down his phone and said angrily, "You'll die if you don't do this, right?"
After saying this, both of them were stunned.
Chu Yunqi has had a bad stomach since he was a child. He would easily get a stomachache if he ate something cold. But he just loved to eat those cold foods and couldn't control himself. Zhou Jingzhan was very angry about this.
"I, then I won't drink it." Chu Yunqi blinked and sat down obediently.
In the past, it was absolutely impossible to remain calm after being yelled at, but I haven't heard it for so many years, and I still miss it a little when I first hear it.
Zhou Jingzhan felt very upset and ran back to the kitchen to get the dumplings as if to escape.
Chu Yunqi looked at the plate of dumplings with disgust: "I don't want to eat it."
The more he thought about it, the more aggrieved he felt. He complained, "Why is it so hard for you to make me something good? Why are you just sending me off with frozen dumplings?"
"What obligation do I have to cook for you? It's up to you whether you want to eat it or not." Zhou Jingzhan couldn't help but feel angry that it was so difficult to serve him.
Zhou Jingzhan, who had always obeyed him, suddenly became a different person. Chu Yunqi felt a huge gap in his heart. Although he knew why Zhou Jingzhan was like this, he still felt wronged: "I won't eat it anymore."
Chu Yunqi was about to go home. Zhou Jingzhan pressed his solar plexus, feeling extremely tired. “Your grandma made this. She asked me to bring it back when I went to see her.”
