Chapter 69 Diary

Chapter 69 Diary

After Chu Mingxu and the other person went out, they went straight to Zhou Jingzhan's car.

Zhou Jingzhan wanted to drive, but Chu Mingxu stopped him: "Let me drive." Zhou Jingzhan obediently sat in the passenger seat.

"Go straight back to your house?"

Zhou Jingzhan wanted to say yes, but then realized that it was wrong and looked at Chu Mingxu blankly.

Chu Mingxu smiled. "I know you want to give them some time. Sorry for the trouble."

Zhou Jingzhan didn't say much. He just gave the address and looked out the window quietly.

"I've heard a bit about what happened between you and Yunqi. He's been up to a lot, and you're the only one who spoils him like this. If you have any problems in the future, tell me and I'll take care of him for you."

Zhou Jingzhan's expression was indifferent, and he said calmly, "He's fine."

Chu Mingxu chuckled and said helplessly, "Just protect him."

After dinner, Chu Shaobo served the asparagus fern that Zhou Jingzhan had just brought to the balcony.

Chu Yunqi was watching TV absentmindedly, occasionally chatting with Ding Liyao: "Was the baby a boy or a girl born by the patient you operated on today?"

"Girl, your heart condition is much better than expected."

Chu Yunqi nodded thoughtfully and sent a message to Lu Youyu to express his blessings.

During this time, Ding Liyao brought over two photo albums. "Your Aunt Qin gave them to me a few days ago. They have photos of you and Jing Zhan when you were little. Would you like to take a look?"

Chu Yunqi didn't think too much about it and put it on the coffee table to watch with her.

Most of the photos in the album were group photos, and Ding Liyao didn't know where most of them came from, so Chu Yunqi patiently explained them based on his memory.

"This photo was taken in Country R. I accompanied him when he went out for a competition. He almost broke his leg while skiing."

"What about this? You won the award, right?"

"Yes, it was the Mathematical Olympiad. That was my fourth year winning the gold medal. Zhou Jingzhan also participated that year to get a place on the admission list. He took the photo for me, but his final result was not satisfactory, so he chose to study chemistry."

"This was taken when he and I returned to Suzhou. The one next to him is his sister. We just met in Beijing a few days ago. She has grown so much."

Chu Yunqi flipped the page and still saw the old house in Suzhou: "That time I planted a ginkgo tree in front of his yard. It's still alive."

"What about this one? Why is it in the hospital?"

"When I was in the third grade of junior high school, I had a fever. It turned into pneumonia and I had to be hospitalized. When he heard about it, he came to the hospital to see me in the middle of the night, which scared the nurse."

Chu Shaobo was still on the balcony, but his hands had already stopped moving.

Ding Liyao also listened quietly. The more she listened, the more she understood why Chu Yunqi liked Zhou Jingzhan.

During his bitter and lonely teenage years, Zhou Jingzhan always brought him some warmth from time to time.

The two photo albums covered the first twenty years of Chu Yunqi's life, and Ding Liyao finished reading them at no more than nine o'clock.

Chu Yunqi said he wanted to put the album back.

Ding Liyao was so heartbroken that she almost lost the ability to think.

After a long while, Chu Shaobo was the first to react: "Isn't his diary also in the drawer?"

Ding Liyao got up hurriedly, and when she entered the room, she was stunned to find that Chu Yunqi had already taken the notebook in his hand.

Chu Yunqi had indeed just received it in his hand. The moment he saw the cover, vague memories that he didn't want to think about began to emerge bit by bit.

Chu Yunqi glanced at Ding Liyao but did not put it down. He did not want to look at it carefully, so he just lowered his head and flipped through it twice, quite casually, but the last words he left on the notebook were inevitably seen.

Saturday, February 19, 2005, cloudy

Mom and Dad don't like me.

The pencil writing is crooked and a little faded.

Chu Yunqi no longer remembers what he felt when he wrote this sentence, but there are only a few possible causes and consequences. Perhaps it was because his parents broke their promise, or perhaps it was because they left him cruelly time and time again.

Without waiting for Ding Liyao to speak, Chu Yunqi spoke first, his tone neither cold nor hot: "Zhou Jingzhan brought it over, right?"

She didn't seem to want to hear the answer and said to herself, "Mom, you don't have to go to such great lengths to ask about my well-being like you did today. We don't have such a tradition in our family."

Ding Liyao was speechless, her eyes starting to ache. After a moment's thought, she replied, "Your father and I, both of our families, have truly endured hardships. It took generations of hard work to get to where we are today. We both went through this, so I'm so strict with you and your brother, but it's all for your own good."

Chu Yunqi nodded in agreement, and after a moment of silence, he said, "But I didn't understand these things when I was a child."

The mother and son were in a stalemate for a while, and then Chu Shaobo came over. Chu Yunqi took the opportunity to say goodbye and go home.

He took the diary away, and the bank card he took during the meal was still on the table.

Chu Yunqi went out and took a taxi, and sent a message to Zhou Jingzhan: Are you home yet?

Zhou Jingzhan: Back

Chu Yunqi: I'll come find you later

Zhou Jingzhan was not surprised that he didn't live at home. After all, the estrangement of so many years could not be resolved in a short time. He did not ask further and simply asked: Where are you?

Chu Yunqi: Just went out

Zhou Jingzhan: Waiting for you

Knowing the password, Chu Yunqi didn't hesitate and entered the password directly to enter the room. He took off his coat and threw it on the sofa, then ran to the kitchen to find Zhou Jingzhan.

Chu Yunqi hugged him from behind and said softly, "Zhou Jingzhan."

"Well," Zhou Jingzhan let him hold her, "how much did you drink?"

"A little bit. I only drank two sips after you left."

Zhou Jingzhan didn't stop washing the dishes and urged: "There is honey water in the living room, drink it while it's hot."

Chu Yunqi walked into the living room, picked up the cup and took a sip. The temperature was just right.

After drinking the honey water, a pot of golden and fragrant millet porridge was placed on the table.

Chu Yunqi noticed that Zhou Jingzhan was still in the kitchen. He went in and saw that he was raising his hand to rinse the water. There was a red mark next to his wrist, which must have been caused by burns.

A bloodstain on the fair skin was particularly eye-catching. Chu Yunqi frowned and asked, "How did it happen? Do you have any medicine at home?"

"Yes, in the living room cupboard."

Chu Yunqi found a tube of erythromycin ointment and applied it to him, and his expression eased slightly.

Zhou Jingzhan freed his wrist from his grasp and eased the atmosphere: "Okay, I'm fine. You drink the porridge first."

Zhou Jingzhan was a spoiled child, his parents had raised him with delicate skin and tender flesh. Now, he had been with him for three days and had been bleeding every other day. Chu Yunqi felt really bad for him: "Don't do it yourself next time."

"Don't you like the food I cook?" Zhou Jingzhan held up his face and looked at him seriously.

What he said was true. Chu Yunqi had eaten all kinds of delicacies from land and sea since he was a child, but the simple dishes that Zhou Jingzhan could make were more to his liking and had the taste of home.

Chu Yunqi took a sip of the porridge, which immediately warmed his stomach. "It tastes good," he said, scooping a spoonful and bringing it to Zhou Jingzhan's mouth.

"I don't want to drink," Zhou Jingzhan waved his hands repeatedly: "I've brushed my teeth. Are you dizzy? Let me rub it for you."

"No, I'm not drunk."
