Chapter 61 Some Little Surprises

Thunder: "This bouquet of Juliet flowers is a new variety from Allen's Flower Room, and it's for my dear Anning."

Anning: "Hehe, Juliet's color is very unique!"

Thunder: "If you like it, that's all that matters... haha..."

An Ning: "What were you doing just now? Why are you so happy?"

Thunder: "Hehe, just wait and see the show. Here, have some fruit."

Lei Ting was very happy when he came back. He wouldn't tell An Ning when she asked him. At the stage, the magician walked off the stage and produced a bouquet of black roses from his hat. He spun around in the crowd, attracting everyone's attention, and then came to An Ning and gave her the bouquet of roses. An Ning hugged it. She knew that it was another little trick by Lei Ting.

Anning: "How did you convince the magician to send me flowers?"

Thunder: "Hehe, you found out!"

An Ning: "Of course, this series of actions is obviously your design, Thunder. I like it very much, thank you."

Thunder: "No need to thank me, as long as you're happy, baby. Have fun tonight, there's more to come later."

An Ning: "Okay."

Anning placed two bouquets of flowers beside her, one a bunch of black roses and the other a bunch of Juliet roses. Anning figured there would definitely be more. Sure enough, Anning looked at the stage. The stage was about to host some acrobatic performances: people stacking on top of each other and jumping through fire hoops. These novel acrobatic acts drew applause from many people. As more and more people gathered, the acrobat forcefully threw a huge fire hoop into the sky. The audience instinctively ducked to avoid it, but the fire hoop extinguished instantly, turning into a large rose wreath that fell down, perfectly encircling Anning and Leiting. A gasp rippled through the crowd. Anning looked at the large wreath at her feet, covering her mouth in astonishment, thinking how thoughtful Leiting had been! How amazing! Anning smiled at Leiting, whose gaze remained fixed on her, a deep and tender look. He also patted her head. Many people were gossiping about them; today's school anniversary celebration seemed to have become a stage for Leiting to win Anning's heart, while they were left watching, enduring one public display of affection after another. A band began performing on stage, each member wearing a rose on their chest, singing love songs with deep emotion, and some people started dancing.

An Ning: "Thunder, how much effort did you put into this?"

Thunder: "It's not much, as long as you're happy."

Anning: "I'm so happy. Hehe."

Anning shrugged and smiled. It felt so good to have her unexpected expectations met. Leiting fed Anning a few bites of fruit. Anning wanted to go to the restroom to touch up her makeup, so she pulled Leiting to go with her.

An Ning: "Thunder, come with me to the restroom!"

Thunder: "Okay, let's go..."

An Ning, holding Lei Ting's arm, hadn't even stepped out of the stage area when a call came from behind.

Jack: "Peace?"

Hearing someone call her name, Anning turned around in confusion. Leiting also turned around. Anning's blind date from a few days ago was right behind her. He politely confirmed that the person in front of her was her. Anning saw that it was Jack. Although she didn't really want to talk to him, she still greeted him politely.

Anning: "Jack...you're here for the school anniversary celebration too!"

Jack: "I'm a regular guest at New York University, so I came to see... And this is...?"

When Jack asked her questions, Anning tightened her grip on Leiting's arm and happily introduced him to Jack.

Anning: "This is my husband... his name is Leiting. Leiting, this is Jack... he's a friend my mother introduced to me a few days ago."

Thunder instantly realized that this was Anning's blind date, and a hint of hostility immediately surfaced in his eyes. He simply nodded slightly at Jack. Jack looked him up and down, his eyes also revealing a strange hostility. He hadn't expected that this Chinese man would become Anning's husband so quickly.

Jack: "Waiter, over here..."

Jack waved, and a waiter came over with wine glasses. Anning took one, and Leiting took one. The three of them clinked glasses. Leiting didn't drink. After Anning and Jack took a sip of their wine, Jack looked at Anning's cheongsam and hairpin and asked her a question with slight dissatisfaction. His tone and speed completely displeased Leiting.

Jack: "Miss Anning, you were just on a blind date with me a few days ago, and you already have a husband? There should be a limit to whirlwind marriages..."

Thunder: "What nonsense are you spouting? Are you out of your mind or what?"

Jack: "What? What? You speak English, I can't understand your Mandarin."

A silent tension filled the air. Jack didn't particularly like Anning, nor was he jealous; rather, he felt defeated by this Chinese woman and couldn't save face. Thunder, on the other hand, regarded every man who showed interest in Anning as his irreconcilable enemy.

Anning: "Jack... there's a misunderstanding. Thunder and I have been married for two years..."

Jack: "Anning? You're already married, why are you going on a blind date with me?"

Jack's voice grew louder, and the classmates around them gradually focused their attention on the three of them. Thunder didn't want to explain to Jack or pay him any attention. He glared at him and tried to pull Anning away. Jack saw Thunder and Anning turn around to stop them. He grabbed Thunder's arm, which was around Anning. Veins bulged on Thunder's face. He crouched down to shield Anning behind him. Tall and muscular, his clothes almost bursting out of his shirt, he exuded a menacing aura. The sudden close contact with Thunder startled Jack, causing the glass in his hand to tremble slightly.

Lei Ting: "Listen carefully, I, Lei Ting, am An Ning's husband. We've been married for two and a half years. You're just a nobody. Do you understand?"

As more and more people gathered, the magicians performing on stage stopped and looked down at the battle between the two men below. Jack looked around; there were many blond-haired, blue-eyed fellow countrymen, and he himself had four-pack abs, a symbol of strength. He finished his drink, straightened his back, raised his head, and challenged Thunder.
