So be it!
[If you don't lick this, Ares won't let you be alone with him!]
[The system must have included this setting in his character settings.]
[You were able to break free from the control of the previous god through your own willpower, so surely you can also get rid of the side effects of this monstrous thing!]
"Then you're talking complete nonsense!"
Then, Lin Mo took a deep breath and went inside.
He found himself in a stone hall with a door on each of the four walls.
Following Mireille's suggestion, Lin Mo stepped through the door on the right without hesitation.
The second room is exactly the same as the first room.
The moment he pushed open the door, he found himself in a room exactly the same as before.
Lin Mo frowned slightly and chose the door on the right again. With a slight creak, the door slowly opened, revealing another stone chamber, which also had a door on each of the four walls.
"Damn it, what kind of place is this?" Lin Mo couldn't help but curse under his breath. His patience was wearing thin with the repetitive layout. "It's like a maze!"
However, when he stepped into the fourth room, the scene changed dramatically.
The room was no longer square, but oval in shape. Even more strangely, the walls were no longer cold stone, but wood planks eaten away by insects, exuding a musty smell.
What surprised Lin Mo the most was that this room actually had six exits, instead of the previous monotonous four.
As always, Lin Mo chose the rightmost path and stepped into a long, dark corridor. The ceiling here soared into the clouds, and on the right was a row of smoking torches emitting an orange glow; however, all the doors were on the left.
Just as Lin Mo was recalling Mireles' words and searching for the correct entrance.
Suddenly, with a "bang," all the doors behind them slammed shut.
"Holy crap!" Lin Mo exclaimed in surprise.
Given the current situation, we can only keep moving forward!
The moldy carpet underfoot was once magnificent and beautiful, with faint gold patterns on the fabric, shimmering intermittently between the dull gray and mottled green.
Although the carpet was tattered and worn, Lin Mo's footsteps did not make much noise, as if the carpet was silently swallowing his steps.
However, this did not stop him from hearing strange noises coming from inside the wall. It was a faint, rapid scratching sound, which involuntarily reminded Lin Mo of rats.
Even more unsettling sounds came from behind some tightly closed doors, one of which was shaking violently in the wind, as if some powerful force was trying to break free and was about to burst through.
Behind another door, a piercing flute melody rang out sharply, like a ghostly call, sending chills down one's spine.
"Not all doors are closed," Lin Mo thought to himself.
Don't look at these things!
The system continued to prompt.
But the temptation was so strong that Lin Mo still subconsciously glanced at it a few times.
In a room, a beautiful woman lay naked on the floor, limbs outstretched. Four tiny figures lay on top of her, with pointed faces like mice and pink hands, just like the servants of Quill City.
One of them was pounding between her thighs, while the other was ravaging her breasts.
"What the hell is this?!" Lin Mo exclaimed.
Don't look, it's all an illusion!
Calm down and keep moving forward!
Further on, Lin Mo came across a feast of corpses.
The participants were all corpses of brutal massacres, lying sprawled on overturned chairs and shattered tables, in pools of congealing blood.
Some had lost their limbs, others their heads. Those unclaimed hands still clutched blood-stained cups, wooden spoons, roast duck, and bread, as if, in their last moments, they were still holding onto the mundane details of life.
On the throne sat a dead man with a wolf's head, an iron crown atop his head, holding a leg of lamb in his hand as if a king were holding a scepter. His gaze was fixed on Lin Mo, as if uttering a silent accusation in the stillness, sending chills down one's spine.
Lin Mo walked quickly, then stopped in front of the next door.
"Damn it!" Lin Mo shouted suddenly.
Because he recognized the door, Lin Mo thought.
He remembered the country cottage and the big camphor tree outside the door!
The scene before him filled Lin Mo with both longing and heartache.
This was his childhood home on Earth, the place where he lived during his early years.
At that moment, an elderly woman emerged, leaning heavily on her cane.
“You’re back!” Her voice was hoarse but kind. “Come here,” she said, “come to me, my dear grandson, you’re finally back, come and let Grandma see you!”
Her wrinkled, large hand reached out to Lin Mo, as soft as old leather.
To be honest, Lin Mo really wanted to hold her hand, clench her palm, and kiss her palm, as if that was the greatest wish of Lin Mo's life.
But Lin Mo ultimately backed away, saying, "Grandma is dead!"
He left his hometown with his parents to do business in another place, and didn't even get to see them one last time.
But Grandma is dead!
Lin Mo stepped back and quickly ran away.
"Damn it, you high-ranking god, trying to play this game with me!" he couldn't help but curse.
This is the price you pay for drinking that stuff!
There's no turning back!
