I won't turn back!
Lin Mo said with unwavering conviction.
I've experienced far too many illusions; what's this?
Behind him, that familiar yet unfamiliar voice kept coming, "My dear grandson! Why haven't you come to see me for so long? Now that you're back, you're leaving again? Don't you want your grandma anymore?"
"I will remember you forever in other ways!" Lin Mo thought to himself.
The corridor stretched on and on, with endless doors on the left and only torches on the right.
Lin Mo passed through countless doors, each with its own unique characteristics. Some were tightly shut like iron, while others were wide open. The doors were made of different materials, ranging from simple wooden doors to heavy, cold iron doors.
Some doors are carved with intricate and exquisite patterns, while others are extremely simple, showcasing a rustic beauty.
The system's voice kept urging Lin Mo, reminding him to stay alert in this endless maze and not to be misled by the illusions before him.
Finally, just as his lungs felt like they were about to burst, a pair of majestic bronze doors came into view.
This door was taller and more magnificent than any door he had ever seen.
As Lin Mo approached, the door opened automatically, and he couldn't help but stop and watch.
Inside the gate was the largest stone hall he had ever seen in his life, with the heads of many strange beasts hanging on the high walls, coldly looking down below.
An elderly man in fine clothes sat on a towering, thorny throne, his eyes dim and his hair gray.
"You've found me, Lin Mo?" The old man looked up, revealing a strange smile.
"Holy crap, that sound?" Lin Mo exclaimed in surprise.
When he stopped again, his first thought was: That's Zhao Wushi! But upon closer inspection, it shouldn't be like that!
Zhao Wushi is in the illusory realm; there's no way he could be in this godforsaken place!
"Why not me?" the old man said. "Is everything that guy you know true?"
"Hahaha!"
"You trust him that much? You obey his every word?"
"Have you forgotten who helped you when you were in trouble?"
"Who gave you godlike power?"
"It allows you to create powerful and skilled generals and tens of thousands of soldiers out of thin air."
"Who made you defeat the arrogant Dossians?"
"Who enabled you to turn the tide and overthrow Wei Maozhen's throne?"
"All of this, is it all because of that guy? That cowardly, treacherous bastard who only deceives you into working for him?"
Lin Mo was speechless.
[He is indeed Zhao Wushi!]
The system notification came again.
[However, this is just a fake, created by those guys using some kind of power.]
Don't talk to him; he'll make you lose your mind!
After the prompt ended, Lin Mo saw the old man walk to the window, sit down, pick up the flute, and put it to his lips.
Melancholy yet sweet music filled the room, its lingering notes causing Lin Mo to unconsciously take a few steps forward.
[Idiot, don't go over there!]
The system prompted again.
Lin Mo was startled and shook his head violently. The old man disappeared like morning mist!
【This is all an illusion, how many times do I have to say it!】
Don't linger!
Lin Mo couldn't help but take a deep breath, then adjusted his breathing and continued forward.
It felt like another hour had passed before the long corridor finally came to an end, revealing a steep stone staircase leading straight down into the darkness.
Lin Mo turned around abruptly and saw that behind him, doors, whether open or closed, were neatly arranged on his left.
A nameless sense of dread washed over him as he noticed with horror that the torches that had been burning brightly were going out one by one.
At this moment, only about twenty torches remained, stubbornly struggling and emitting a faint light. Just as he gazed at them, another torch dimmed and disappeared into the deep darkness. At the end of the corridor, the silent darkness approached like a ferocious beast.
He knew he couldn't turn back.
But how do we move forward? There's no door on the right, and the stairs go down, not up.
Lin Mo stood there in thought, and another torch went out, while the faint sound of footsteps grew louder and louder.
Suddenly it dawned on me... it's the last door on the left!
So Lin Mo crashed in.
Inside the door was another small house with four doors.
"Damn it!" Lin Mo exclaimed immediately. "This maze is so damn annoying!"
Take a deep breath and continue through the door on the right!
Right side, right side, right side, until I felt dizzy and breathless.
When he stopped again, he found himself in a damp stone chamber... Opposite him was an oval door, shaped like an open mouth, and the charlatan Mireles was standing on the grass under the shade of a tree outside the door.
"Holy crap!" Lin Mo was completely stunned.
"You finished talking with the lord so quickly?" he asked incredulously when he saw Lin Mo.
"Me, talking about you?!" Lin Mo blurted out, "I haven't even seen you!"
“You must have taken the wrong turn. Come here, let me show you the way.” Mireles held out his hand.
Lin Mo was taken aback at first, then sternly refused, "No!"
“Why? Didn’t you get lost?” Mireles said. “The lord won’t wait forever.”
"Damn it!" Lin Mo suddenly remembered something. "It's all an illusion, including you!" he shouted.
“Your Highness, this is not right of you!” Mireis stepped forward. “Come, let me guide you, otherwise you will get lost and never be able to find your way out.”
"Get the hell out of here!" Lin Mo shouted, shaking his hand forcefully before striding away.
“No,” Mireles screamed, “No, come here, come to me, come to me inside…” His face sank inward, gradually turning into a pale skull.
