Chapter 326 Equivalent Exchange!

After leaving that absurd room, Lin Mo continued on his way.

Finally, he arrived at his destination: a steel gate.

The gate was as heavy as a mountain; even Lin Mo, with the strength of a five-star general, had to exert all his strength to push it open slightly. However, behind this massive gate lay another door. It was an old, gray wooden door, cracked with the marks of time, seemingly ordinary, yet it stood quietly to his right.

As Lin Mo stepped inside, a whisper reached his ears, a voice as sweet as a song, carrying endless allure and beckoning him forward. However, Lin Mo remained unmoved.

Although the voice sounded like Zhao Wushi's, the tone was completely different.

Lin Mo and Zhao Wushi are now just roommates in a university dormitory, so how could they possibly be speaking to each other in such a polite tone!

Soon, Lin Mo passed through the narrow door and entered a room immersed in darkness.

A massive stone table, almost taking up the entire room, floated on top of which hung a human heart. The heart was rotten and swollen, its color bruised, yet it still beat, full of life.

Each time it throbs, it emits a deep and long vibrato, and at the same time, it radiates a wave of deep blue light, enveloping the entire room in a mysterious and eerie atmosphere.

The figures sitting around the table seemed to be dyed a deep blue by the night.

They remained motionless, so silent that it was as if even their breathing had been frozen.

Lin Mo slowly walked to the empty chair at the end of the table. During this time, they did not move, speak, or turn their heads.

In the room, apart from the low, slow beating of the rotting heart, there was no other sound.

"Lin Mo!"

"The Regent of Great Xia..."

"The Savior of Great Xia!"

A voice rang out, half whisper and half moan...

"Savior!"

"Savior..."

In the deep darkness, a faint echo rose. Male voices, female voices, and even the innocent voices of children intertwined, like distant stars twinkling in the darkness.

That suspended heart still beats stubbornly, sometimes emitting a faint light in the darkness, and sometimes being swallowed up by the endless darkness.

Even the well-informed Lin Mo felt a chill run down his spine in such an eerie atmosphere.

"Is this a horror movie?" he thought to himself.

Sit down and listen attentively.

The system prompted him again.

This is the end!

"Fine!" Lin Mo said with a cold laugh.

So he sat down, placing his hands on his knees. "To respond to all changes with constancy?"

That's right!

Just as the system prompted.

A figure appeared quickly.

Under the deep blue light, Lin Mo could make out a gaunt figure on the right.

This is an extremely old man, the marks of time are like ravines covering his face, his wrinkles deep, like lines of poetry engraved on the pages of an ancient book.

His head was completely bald, without a single hair, and his skin had an unusual bluish-purple hue, like ancient coral submerged in the deep sea.

His lips and nails were a deep, almost black, blue, giving them a mysterious and eerie beauty.

Those eyes were fixed on Lin Mo across the table, yet they seemed to ignore him.

"Holy crap, what kind of species is this?" Lin Mo asked in surprise.

Because, Lin Mo noticed, he wasn't breathing!

Lin Mo listened to the silence.

He was not breathing, not moving, and not seeing.

"No wonder!" Lin Mo thought to himself, "The creations of God are themselves combinations of body and soul!"

"Without the soul, the body will most likely look like this!"

And at that very moment.

A barely audible voice, like a mouse's whiskers brushing lightly in the still night, quietly responded: "I... am alive... am alive... am alive..."

The sound seemed to trigger some profound resonance, and the surroundings were immediately filled with countless whispers echoing around.

They intertwine, as if forming an invisible melody: "We...know everything...know nothing...know nothing...know nothing..."

"Stop playing the devil and show me your true colors!" Lin Mo cursed.

"The original form? What kind of original form? Do you present your true self to others?" the voice asked.

Lin Mo, “???”

"Is your real name Lin Mo? Or perhaps, your surname isn't Lin at all! Your surname is Qi, right?"

"I..." Lin Mo was stunned. "So what if I am!"

“Then tell me,” the voice said, “what you saw in the corridor…was it real or an illusion? Was it the past or the future? What did it all mean?”

"It's all an illusion!" Lin Mo said firmly.

"Why are you so sure?" the voice laughed. "The so-called illusion refers to a strange and bizarre realm, which can also be understood as a magical and illusory situation or an ideal place that only appears in fantasy or dreams."

Are you in a fantasy right now? Or are you dreaming?

When will you wake up?

Where will I be when I wake up?

"Holy crap!" Lin Mo was a little numb.

The ghostly harmonies echoed in Lin Mo's heart, silent and still, as if the air itself had frozen. There was no movement of lips, no disturbance of breath, only the almost still blue air, like a tranquil painting.

"A soul from Earth...transmigrates and is reborn..."

Whispers turned into a recurring song.

"Your life is destined to have three turning points... once for survival, once for power, and once for... the so-called truth!"
