The night was deep, and the campfire burned alone on the hillside on the other side, its light shining brightly, like a fallen star lying there quietly.
Its brightness surpassed that of the entire starry sky, yet it did not flicker at all; it merely expanded and contracted intermittently, like distant fireworks, faint and dim.
Just a mile ahead, at an altitude of two thousand feet, Lin Mo estimated that from this vantage point, he could see everything happening at the mouth of the gorge.
"Found them!" the head of the divine servants announced. "They actually came here..."
After several days of travel, Lin Mo learned from the other divine servants that this person was called Mo Qing, who had served as a general in the Imperial Guard of an emperor when he was young. Therefore, the divine servants still call him "General Mo" to this day!
"They're really bold!"

The "they" that Mo Qing was referring to were the group of people who were starting a fire not far away.
These people were also among Mo Qing's targets on this trip.

“If we’re not careful, it could be a long fall,” Mo Qing said. “Two people can make it across. There should also be two people guarding the other side, taking turns on duty.”
“I’ll do it.” Usk was the first to volunteer. After observing him for a while, Lin Mo knew that he was the most agile person in the team, so this mission was naturally the one for him.
"I'll go too!" Lin Mo said quickly. "I feel extremely...remorseful for what I did before!"

Upon hearing this, Mo Qing burst into a wild laugh.

Then, Mo Qing turned around and announced in a loud voice, "Let's begin!"
The two men each picked up a large roll of rope and prepared themselves. Mo Qing also brought an extra bag of nails and a small hammer with a thick felt covering its top. They left behind the horses, helmets, and armor.
Daylight had faded, and the mountains stood silently, draped in a blue-gray cloak and covered in snow. As the sun disappeared, everything vanished into deep darkness beneath the veil of the jagged peaks.
However, tonight the bright moon hangs high, like a silver paintbrush, painting the mountains with dazzling brilliance.
