Chapter 365 Evil God!

Lin Mo looked around and saw towering peaks everywhere, covered with trees that had never been cut down.

The lake shimmered in the setting sun, its surface resembling countless tiny jewels. In the western sky, clouds rolled in slowly, seemingly carrying some unknown omen.

Finally, Lin Mo's gaze settled on the eagle soaring through the sky. It circled and circled, its body agile and graceful, its sharp eyes seemingly piercing through space, fixed intently on Lin Mo. At that moment, time seemed to freeze...

"They're like a persistent ghost!" Lin Mo exclaimed. "That Pu Hang guy has his eye on me!"

However, upon seeing the eagle, Lin Mo also realized something: Pu Hang and the others were unaware of the secret of gods and Buddhas devouring demons!

It is precisely because of this secret that these servants of the gods are able to pursue themselves so persistently.

"Perhaps I should stay here for a while?" A thought suddenly flashed through Lin Mo's mind. "It would also allow Pu Hang and the others to get to know their master and see what kind of being the god in their hearts truly is."

Thinking this, Lin Mo decisively turned around and walked back the way he came. "Let's stay here for a few nights before we leave!"

"Huh?" Zhao Yue'er was quite surprised. "Brother Lin, you live here?"

Lin Mo nodded.

"This is dangerous!" Zhao Yue'er exclaimed. "Master... no, those evil gods, they're here!"

Upon hearing Zhao Yue'er's words, even the giant wolf instinctively turned its head away.

"What did you just say? You referred to them?" Lin Mo asked in surprise.

“Evil gods! You heard me right, they are evil gods!” Zhao Yue’er said. “Before, we had heard some rumors in private. But out of respect for our master, we denied them. But now, I have seen those demons with my own eyes, those…”

"It's okay, I understand!" Lin Mo said with a smile.

The three then quietly retraced their steps.

After careful consideration, Lin Mo finally decided to rest in the kitchen. It was a unique octagonal stone house. Although the arched structure of the roof had been weathered and was slightly dilapidated, it seemed to be more resistant to wind and rain than other buildings, providing a rare shelter.

And most importantly: no one ever sets foot near the kitchen!

Perhaps the gods and Buddhas deliberately wanted to maintain the appearance of the city as uninhabited, or perhaps there were other reasons.

In short, apart from the underground prison, there was almost no trace of anyone living elsewhere.

In the center of the house, a deep well stands quietly. Beside the well, a camphor tree grows tenaciously, its bent body stubbornly emerging from the cold stone floor, stretching obliquely as if to touch the dark opening in the roof.

Its branches, as pale as withered bones, stubbornly point towards the sun in the sky.

However, it was the only place in the kitchen that could bring joy to the giant wolf.

Although most of the roof still remained and could still shelter them from the wind and rain, he knew that it could never bring any warmth. The chilling atmosphere seemed to seep incessantly from the depths of the stone floor, so cold that it chilled one to the bone.

The giant wolf, like him, felt uneasy about every shadow here. The enormous brick furnaces, like the open mouths of a monstrous beast, tightly surrounded them; the rusty meat hooks instilled even greater fear.

The giant wolf disliked that well the most. It was twelve feet wide, entirely made of stone, with a cleverly constructed spiral staircase on its side. The well walls were damp and slippery, covered with a thick layer of scale, and its bottom was nowhere to be seen.

Even Lin Mo's eyes were helpless. "Maybe it has no clue," Lin Mo said doubtfully.

To confirm whether there was indeed water at the bottom of the well, Lin Mo resolutely threw a piece of gravel into the well.

Soon after, a muffled echo came from the farthest depths below. The sound was neither crisp nor like the splashing of a pebble falling into water; rather, it was more like an eerie swallowing sound.

It was as if something trembled at the bottom of the well, opened its cold mouth, and swallowed the stone that Lin Mo had thrown down.

In that instant, Zhao Yue'er felt a strange unease, as if something was churning and stirring in the water at the bottom of a well. A strong sense of unease welled up inside her. "Perhaps we shouldn't stay here," she said anxiously.

"Not by the well?" Lin Mo asked. "Not here?"

"Yes," Zhao Yue'er answered without hesitation.

Lin Mo smiled and said, "There's a saying: the more dangerous the place, the safer it is!"
