The two humans and the wolf spent a considerable amount of time processing the shocking information.
Once the turmoil in their hearts had subsided, they embarked on an unknown journey once more.
After navigating through a winding passage, Lin Mo and the others soon arrived at an iron gate. The gate was tightly closed, appearing heavy and mysterious.
Through the cracks in the iron gate, a strong, nauseating stench wafted out. This stench wasn't the usual smell of decay, but rather carried an indescribable nausea, as if countless filth were festering in the darkness, gestating some ominous creature deep within the cave.
Lin Mo frowned, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart.
The iron gate was slowly pushed open. At that moment, Lin Mo seemed to step into a completely new world, so shocked that he was almost speechless.
Looking around, the room was filled with all sorts of skeletons, a horrifying sight. There were human remains, wild animal remains, and other strange, indescribable creatures, making it seem like a silent, deathly place.
In the very center of the room, rows of enormous glass culture tanks stood neatly arranged, like exhibits in a laboratory. These tanks were filled with a viscous, foul-smelling green liquid that was nauseating.
Lin Mo's gaze involuntarily fell on the cultivation tanks, where various creatures were immersed. Most of them were the strange monsters he had seen before; some had contorted bodies, others had their eyes closed, and their fates were unknown.
In a very few culture tanks, there were creatures that Lin Mo had never seen before. They lay quietly in the green liquid, seemingly undergoing some kind of unknown baptism.
In a very small number of glass culture tanks, there are...
Humans!
The room was filled with an eerie and oppressive atmosphere, which sent a chill down Lin Mo's spine.
Zhao Zhilan, who was in the form of a giant wolf, trembled with fear upon seeing this.
As for the divine servant Zhao Yue'er, she was completely speechless at this moment.
"What the hell?!" Lin Mo couldn't help but curse out.
[This scared you?]
A system prompt appeared.
Hmph, that's just child's play.
[Those scum who call themselves gods and Buddhas, and other even more heinous flesh-and-blood factories!]
"Damn it..." Lin Mo cursed again, "Anything else?"
"A flesh and blood factory?"
[Heh, otherwise how do you think the system created so many soldiers and mythical generals to help you conquer the world?]
Upon seeing this prompt, Lin Mo immediately frowned, his feelings incredibly complex.
"system..."
"Sculpting soldiers..."
"Flesh and Blood Factory!"
Yes, the system is able to create soldiers, presumably by utilizing the flesh and blood here...
"What about the spirits? The spirits of the soldiers and generals?"
It should be nearby. If you can handle the hassle, you can go check it out!
"Holy crap!" Lin Mo's body trembled instantly.
Anyone with a brain knows that places where souls are imprisoned are several times more terrifying than this!
Suddenly, a horrifying passage flashed through his mind: "Skulls piled up like mountains, bones scattered like dense forests. Human hair was tangled together, forming thick blankets, while once vibrant skin and flesh had long since rotted into mud and turned to dust."
Severed human tendons, dry and charred, clung to the tree trunks, gleaming with a cold, eerie silver light. It was truly a world of mountains of corpses and seas of blood, permeated with an unbearable, nauseating stench.
Lin Mo took a deep breath, trying to calm his emotions that were churning because of this text.
"Let's burn this place down!" Zhao Yue'er suggested.
"No!" Lin Mo shook his head.
If I burn this place down, I'm afraid I'll be treated exactly like Zhao Wushi, being hunted down by a group of incredibly powerful supreme gods!
Lin Mo glanced at the incubation room out of the corner of his eye, then left.
"Once I grow strong enough to contend with the supreme gods, I will definitely raze this hellish place to the ground!" he vowed in his heart.
Guided by Zhao Yue'er's memories, they traversed a library that resembled ruins. The once neatly arranged bookshelves and cabinets had long since collapsed, and the books were nowhere to be found, replaced by rats scurrying about everywhere.
They roamed through the ruins, as if they had become the new masters of this place.
When they arrived at the city hall, the scene before them was even more heartbreaking.
The once magnificent hall is now reduced to a crumbling wall, and the bathhouse has sunk underground and disappeared without a trace. A huge thicket of thorns grows rampantly, occupying the wide training ground outside the armory.
That place, once the site where the brothers in black toiled and practiced with spears, shields, and longswords, is now a desolate wasteland.
The blacksmith shop, though barely retaining its original appearance, had long lost its former vitality. Cobwebs hung densely in the corners, and rats scurried through the dust, searching for food.
The iconic items of the blacksmith's shop, such as swords, bellows, and anvils, have long since disappeared, replaced by a desolate and lifeless atmosphere.
Sometimes, the giant wolf would suddenly stop and prick up its ears to listen. Its ears seemed to be able to catch sounds that Lin Mo couldn't hear, or sense some unknown direction. It would grin, revealing sharp fangs, as if conveying some kind of message to Lin Mo.
The good news is that the demons and other gods and Buddhas did not show up.
This relieved Lin Mo. "They're all busy devouring the monsters!"
As we left that ancient city, the setting sun gradually sank behind the western mountain peaks, its remaining rays like flickering candlelight, casting dappled shadows on the summit.
