The next day, the bridal sedan chair headed towards the Moon Goddess Temple. Inside the sedan chair, Zhao Wan couldn't help but tremble all over, constantly reminding herself.
She won't stay there!
She's only going for a short while.
She will leave!
She forced herself to calm down. Fortunately, this time when she got out of the sedan chair, she didn't have to be held by Zhu Zhenghe, and her abnormality wouldn't be noticed.
After bowing and kneeling before the statue of the Moon Goddess, she was led by Zhu Zhenghe to the backyard. Once inside, she found it difficult to remain calm, but she could only follow along.
They arrived at a private room with neat furniture and a bed.
Zhu Zhenghe helped her sit down by the bed and slowly lifted her veil. At that moment, the young man smiled brightly at her, which made her lose her composure.
Even though he was going to do the same thing to her as those other people, she didn't feel disgusted or scared; instead, she felt a little embarrassed.
But just as Zhu Zhenghe was about to press down on her, she smelled a strange fragrance. When she gradually came to her senses, she saw the ugly face of the temple keeper. She was terrified and wanted to scream, but her mouth was forcibly covered.
Zhao Wan struggled frantically, but when she turned her head, she found Zhu Zhenghe sitting upright by the bed, witnessing everything, but he did not react at all.
Zhao Wan spent that afternoon in despair.
As dusk approached, Zhao Wan awoke from her unconsciousness. Zhu Zhenghe gently wiped her down, apologizing and saying that he had hurt her.
Tears streaming down her face, she wanted to shake her head and say no, but she didn't dare. She still remembered her mother's slap, and she had a premonition that if she told the truth, Zhu Zhenghe would also show that look of disgust, and he would hit her too. She didn't dare.
After that, Zhao Wan finally left the Moon Goddess Temple.
After Zhu Zhenghe left, Zhao Wan lived in his house. Zhu Zhenghe's parents had passed away early, and he grew up eating food from many different families. Because of his childhood interest, he learned martial arts from a martial arts master in a village a mountain away.
With Zhu Zhenghe away, Zhao Wan was home alone. She thought it was fine this way, living her life quietly and waiting for Zhu Zhenghe to come home.
It was only through her normal sexual relations with Zhu Zhenghe that she realized everything was wrong!
Not just her, all the other girls were the same!
But she didn't understand, she didn't understand why no one said anything?!
Why isn't anyone going to stop this?!
Why is everyone hiding the truth, tolerating it, and aiding and abetting evil?!
Zhao Wan wasn't the first to discover this; the first one was already dead. Everyone thought she was talking crazy. Later, she died on the mountain, her life ending with a hemp rope.
She couldn't understand how those who were already married and had children knew something, just like her, but it was too late. Being unchaste and impure would lead to being divorced!
They've already started living normal lives; they don't want to die, they don't want their fig leaf to be torn off!
Even though they knew what those girls would encounter if they went to the temple, and even though some of those girls had relatives, they all remained silent!
At that time, Zhao Wan was unaware that their thoughts were no longer those of ordinary people.
They are already so miserable, they can't stand seeing others escape disaster. Why should they suffer all this, while others want to expose their bloody scars and gain a happy and peaceful life in return?
Zhao Wan initially wanted peace and quiet, after all, she had already escaped. However, she waited for a long time, but Zhu Zhenghe did not return, there was no news of him, and some people even said that he was dead.
She felt abandoned, but she didn't quite understand what abandonment meant. She worked the land every day, ate and slept alone. Although she often had nightmares at night, she truly felt liberated after leaving the cage.
She didn't care whether Zhu Zhenghe returned or not until she was chosen by the temple keeper to lead several girls to the nearby Yue Niang Temple for a joint chanting ceremony.
Zhao Wan then realized that she had never escaped at all; she had only been pulled up by the hair while drowning and given a few breaths of air.
From that moment on, something called hatred took root, sprouted, and grew strong in her heart.
She finally understood human relationships, propriety, integrity, and shame, as well as right and wrong, good and evil.
But she didn't choose kindness!
She tricked the temple keeper, stole silver for travel expenses, and for the first time truly left the cage that had imprisoned her for years.
She traveled tirelessly, driven by a desire to survive and seek revenge, and finally arrived in the legendary capital city.
She found Zhu Zhenghe, a man completely different from the one she remembered. He had shed his childishness and gained composure, but his kindness had been buried and he was consumed by desire.
But she didn't care. She didn't care about being a wife or a concubine. She wanted power and manpower. She wanted to tear apart the cage that trapped the beast with her own hands!
She had sunk into the abyss, deeply mired in the mire, and thought the world was full of filth, but then she saw such a bright and radiant woman in the mansion she was about to move into.
She is untouched by worldly dust and detached from worldly affairs; she is a pampered flower, blooming in the warm spring sunshine.
It was then that Zhao Wan realized that there was such a wonderful life to be had.
Faced with such a beautiful woman, she timidly wanted to hide herself away, like a ray of sunlight shining into a cold, dark, stinking ditch.
She slept on a soft bed, dressed in luxurious clothes, and adorned with gold and silver jewelry, but she did not obtain the happiness and joy that others dreamed of.
Zhu Zhenghe strives to get what he wants, while Zhao Wan also strives to do what she wants to do. They use each other and benefit from each other's efforts.
Finally, she caught the man who had pushed her into the abyss, crippled his limbs, and cut out his tongue. Every day she subjected him to different tortures, and watching his eyes turn blood red and watching him struggle in pain made her feel extremely happy!
