The beasts, including Tanuki, didn't have the patience to keep paying attention to those things. After staying there for several months, the other three beasts, except for Tanuki, were so bored they were practically growing fur.
Qiong Ruiheng was initially intrigued and enjoyed strolling around the streets, but after a while, he lost interest. However, there was nothing to do for entertainment, so he could only hold Jiang Jiang, who was equally bored and didn't want to move, and sleep soundly until the world seemed to end.
Shan You was the most bored and frustrated. He finally made it into the crowd, but he was mute and couldn't curse anyone. He was annoyed. He sat in a chair, shaking his legs, his red hair all frizzy.
Li You was alright. Bai Hao used an illusion to turn the leaves into golden leaves and bought a small courtyard to settle down in. Li You was not idle and built and decorated the courtyard inside and out.
With nothing particularly noteworthy happening, Bai Hao and Qin Nan returned to their courtyard after the old man left.
When Li You saw the two return, she greeted them cheerfully.
Tanuki Yu: "How's it going? Are you done yet?"
Bai Hao: "No, but it will be soon."
Li You: "Alright, Anan, what are we eating today? We've finished all the dishes we had before. I had Bai Hao restock yesterday, and we also got all the seasonings we needed."
Qin Nan: "Since we have enough ingredients, let's make some of the dishes you guys liked before, and also make a bamboo shoot chicken soup and a cold shredded chicken salad?"
Li You: "No problem, let's go, I'll call Lao Dan to help out."
Li You eagerly led Qin Nan to the kitchen.
Originally bored and restless, Shan You heard their words and went into the kitchen without being called. In this desolate place, Qin Nan's cooking was the only comfort!
After a busy day, the aroma of food filled the courtyard, waking up Qiong Ruiheng and Jiang Jiang from their deep sleep.
However, Jiang Jiang woke up and lay slumped down again. He had no sense of taste and no internal organs. What went into his mouth would go straight through his intestines and out. Eating was truly meaningless to him.
Qiong Ruiheng was awakened by the aroma. Before he even opened his eyes, he was already sitting up. He unconsciously swallowed his saliva, squinted, washed his face with water, and then ran to the kitchen once he was fully awake.
When the food was served, everyone behaved well, washing their hands before eating under Qin Nan's supervision, especially Li You, who had dug too much dirt and needed to wash his hands thoroughly.
Bai Hao didn't find it boring at all. With Qin Nan by his side, he wouldn't feel bored. Especially since, for some reason, Qin Nan responded to his hugs and kisses with a certain enthusiasm, which was a good thing.
He was well-fed and watered every day, and when he woke up, he could see the sleeping face of the person in his arms. Bai Hao felt that it was not enough. Except for important occasions, he did not want Qin Nan to get out of bed at all.
However, they were met with protests from Li You, Shan You, and Qiong Ruiheng, since Qin Nan's meal was their last line of defense.
So Bai Hao was very unhappy. He couldn't even indulge in debauchery during the day!
However, he also knew that although the normal time outside the painting was short, there would still be a long time to pass inside. He wouldn't go too far, after all, he had already gained a lot of benefits for free!
After dinner, Qin Nan saw Li You pruning the trees in the yard and wanted to lend a hand, but Bai Hao grabbed her and took her away.
The opportunity was excellent, and Bai Hao alone refused to waste time.
Qin Nan did not resist. After fusing with half of the jade pendant, Qin Nan's physique was greatly strengthened. Even if Bai Hao tormented her, she would be fine after a day of rest. This made it very convenient for Bai Hao to indulge her.
But Qin Nan didn't stop him. He would agree to Bai Hao's requests as many times as he wanted. Even when Bai Hao was on the verge of fainting, he didn't want him to stop. He wanted to remember more and more.
He knew that Bai Hao seemed to have noticed something, but he didn't ask him, and he didn't want to say either; it wasn't the right time yet.
Life here was leisurely, but on the other side, after only ten days, news spread that the Song family had committed treason and collusion with the enemy. Because the evidence was conclusive, they were convicted of familial guilt and, except for the married daughters, all the members of the family were imprisoned to await their fate.
Song Huiru was initially unaware of the situation. Zhu Zhenghe had ordered everyone in the household to remain silent, and she was not allowed to leave the mansion, so she knew nothing about what was happening outside.
The two concubines originally wanted to tell the truth, but seeing Song Huiru's already showing belly, they both chose to remain silent. Since things had come to this point, it was better to keep it a secret for a while longer, because the worst thing would be to be devastated if they found out.
When Zhao Wan heard about this, she felt a chill run down her spine. Zhu Zhenghe was too ruthless! He was too cruel. Song Huiru's value was probably about to disappear, but she hadn't had time to prepare anything.
Therefore, Zhao Wan also kept this matter a secret.
Until the Song family members were escorted to the execution ground and beheaded, Song Huiru, who was completely unaware of the situation, suddenly felt a pang of heartache and burst into tears.
Seeing her bewildered and heartbroken expression, Zhao Wan felt a growing sense of irritation.
She shouldn't be in pain! She should be at peace!
Moreover, Zhao Wan didn't understand why she felt so heartbroken when she knew nothing about it.
She couldn't understand that blood-related bond; she hadn't seen her parents in a long time, and she didn't want to.
No matter how hard she tried to hide it, Song Huiru eventually found out. She was devastated and fainted, losing her unborn child.
When Song Huiru woke up again, she was in a daze. She had lost her beloved family and the child in her womb. The successive blows made her fall ill and never recover.
Zhu Zhenghe only came back for a quick look and never came back again. He no longer needed to deal with Song Huiru, so he no longer needed to pretend.
Moreover, there's another deal in place, as long as Song Huiru doesn't die.
Zhao Wan would visit Song Huiru every day, and several people would always kneel in front of her bed, begging her to take her medicine and eat.
The once vibrant Bodhi flower was gradually withering, and Zhao Wan suppressed the urge to touch it one last time.
She dismissed the others, sat by the bed, and looked at Song Huiru, who was thin and had empty eyes. For the first time, she took the initiative to speak.
