Zhu Jiuyin squatted down, raised his hand and placed it on Qin Nan's forehead. A surge of vital energy flowed in, like needle and thread, mending Qin Nan's damaged internal organs.
He sensed that Qin Nan's seven orifices were also damaged, but there was nothing he could do. He couldn't heal them all; he could only barely restore Qin Nan's eyes, but his hearing and sense of smell were beyond repair.
Qin Nan, who was in Bai Hao's arms, woke up with a sudden, heavy breath. He opened his eyes, his vision gradually cleared, and he saw Bai Hao's face. He relaxed and leaned against his shoulder.
But the next moment, he caught a glimpse of Zhu Jiuyin beside him out of the corner of his eye, paused for a moment, and then propped himself up to sit up.
Qin Nan: "Candle, Candle Nine Yin?"
Because he hadn't spoken for so long, Qin Nan's voice was hoarse and dry. He coughed lightly, but didn't hear a reply. Then he suddenly realized that he seemed to be unable to hear anymore.
Zhu Jiuyin: [Long time no see, Mo.]
Qin Nan paused for a moment, then slowly smiled: "Long time no see. I never expected to see you again in such a disheveled state."
Zhu Jiuyin: [No, the fact that you managed to get out of here already makes you the first... beast in history.]
Qin Nan: [Thank you so much for the compliment. It's so nice to hear such kind words from you.]
Zhu Jiuyin: [The truth is never pleasant to hear, and the future is never as we wish.]
Qin Nan: [Yes, thank you for your treatment.]
Zhu Jiuyin: [I was simply fulfilling a request, and besides, I'm curious whether you'll make it out alive.]
Qin Nan: [I was lucky.]
Zhu Jiuyin: [Hmm, but I can't help it if your five senses are impaired, but it's not that important, is it?]
Qin Nan: [A body that will eventually be abandoned; whether it is intact or not is unimportant.]
Zhu Jiuyin: [That's good. Since you're alright, I should go and enjoy my reward.]
Qin Nan: [Huh?]
Zhu Jiuyin: [It's not important. Do what you want to do. I wish you good luck.]
Qin Nan's eyes lit up. Zhu Jiuyin could foresee the future. Did his words imply that things would eventually turn out well?
Zhu Jiuyin smiled, stood up, waved to the two of them, then turned and left, disappearing into the sea of clouds.
Bai Hao suddenly received a question from Bai Jue and replied. Bai Jue had come here to wait for Qin Nan with him, but left after hearing that the array power he left on Qin Nan was about to run out.
Bai Hao was preoccupied with worrying about Qin Nan and did not inquire about Bai Jue's whereabouts until Zhu Jiuyin arrived, at which point he learned that Bai Jue had come to him to rescue Qin Nan.
Bai Jue seemed to know more than him, and knew when to do what, which made him feel utterly powerless in comparison.
Bai Hao: "A-Nan?"
Bai Hao called softly, but Qin Nan seemed not to hear, pondering Zhu Jiuyin's words, until Bai Hao pinched his face and turned him around.
Qin Nan snapped out of her daze: "Bai Hao, I'm back."
Bai Hao: [Why are you ignoring me?]
Qin Nan: [Did you call me? I... I think I can't hear you for the time being, so this is the only way I can talk to you.]
Bai Hao: [What? Zhu Jiuyin didn't cure you?]
Qin Nan: [There's nothing I can do. I only have a human body. If it weren't for half a jade pendant, I wouldn't have been able to hold on long ago.]
Bai Hao pressed his head against his shoulder; his breathing was very unstable.
Qin Nan felt a chill run down his spine. He looked up at Bai Hao but didn't say anything, asking in confusion, "What's wrong, Brother Hao?"
Bai Hao: [...]
Qin Nan: [Brother~ Husband...]
Bai Hao: [Stop yelling!]
Qin Nan chuckled and hugged Bai Hao back, whispering, "Thanks to the array you left on me, I was saved. I thought I wouldn't make it out."
Bai Hao: [You're back now, don't think about those things. I'll find a way to cure you.]
Qin Nan was slightly taken aback, but did not refute. He leaned limply against Bai Hao. Even though his body had recovered, his spirit could not hold on any longer, and he fell into a deep sleep within a few breaths.
Bai Hao felt a weight on his shoulder and realized that Qin Nan was fast asleep. He took out a cloak and draped it over Qin Nan, then gently picked him up.
Only then did he notice the stone statue that Qin Nan had carried back. When he saw the face of the statue clearly, he was stunned. He removed the helmet and snow-white coat, revealing the entire statue.
Against the backdrop of the surrounding wind and snow, the stone statue appeared even more austere and cold.
Bai Hao raised his hand and used the wind to carry the stone statue and flowerpot back to the cave they had been in.
Qin Nan slept soundly and for a long time. Bai Hao forcibly pulled him up and fed him something in the middle of the night. He was still in a daze until he finally woke up three days later.
Bai Hao placed the stone statue in the cave, and watered the seeds in the flowerpot every day. Perhaps due to the power of the Azure Dragon, the seeds grew very well, but the little sprouts that emerged did not change much.
When Qin Nan woke up, he saw his mother's stone statue. He was startled awake, got up and ran to the statue. He hugged the statue and gently rubbed his mother's cheek.
Bai Hao walked in from outside, saw Qin Nan's appearance, silently walked over and patted his shoulder. The stone statue had no life left.
Just as Bai Hao was about to say something, he suddenly received a message from the Xuanwu clan.
[Bai Hao, are you alright over there? Something's not right in the Netherworld; something bad might be brewing!]
Bai Hao looked at Qin Nan, hesitated for a long time, but still broke the atmosphere.
Bai Hao: [Anan, something's happened in the Netherworld. We might have to go back. Do you have enough of what you need?]
Qin Nan looked up in a daze: [How long will I be gone to the Outer Heavens?]
Bai Hao: [About a month and a half.]
Qin Nan: [That's about right, it's time to go back.]
Qin Nan raised her hand and touched her mother's face, gently pressing her forehead against her mother's forehead.
Qin Nan: "Mom, I'm going. I won't let all of this be in vain. I will do it!"
