After a while, Qin Nan patted Bai Hao, signaling him to let go. Only after he came to his senses did he realize that someone had taken pictures of him. Then he pulled Bai Hao into a nearby alley.
Qin Nan: "I'm sorry, I lost my composure."
Bai Hao: "It's alright, are you alright?"
"Hmm, it's nothing." Qin Nan rewrapped the book and hugged it to her chest.
Seeing that Qin Nan was in a bad mood, Bai Hao let Qin Nan drag him around the food streets of the South City District. They ate their way through the streets. Originally, Qin Nan just wanted to stroll around, but Bai Hao said that he would reimburse him for today, so he could play and eat as much as he wanted. Qin Nan naturally did not stand on ceremony.
When the two got home, it was already past eleven o'clock. Totoro was hiding in his room, sulking. The two of them had gone out to play and eat without taking him, and had even asked him to watch the house. The baby was feeling wronged!
Qin Nan placed a small bag of roasted chestnuts next to Totoro's house, then went to wash up and go to bed, assuming that Totoro would be too tired to wait for him and would go to sleep first.
With so many people on holiday, Qin Nan didn't dare bring Longmao. He and Bai Hao had to hold on tightly to keep from getting separated. They'll buy Longmao some freeze-dried food and jerky tomorrow to make up for it.
Bai Hao wasn't as tired as Qin Nan. He sat on the sofa, and when he heard the bathroom door close, he opened the blue floral cloth on the table, placed his hand on it, and his fingertips glowed with a faint white light. Fragments of memories floated into his mind.
Bai Hao saw an old man talking to a child whose face he couldn't make out. He didn't know what they were saying, but the two seemed to be very happy together.
But later, the child disappeared, and only the old man kept an eye on things at the door every day. Later, the old man received a letter, and after that, Bai Hao knew nothing more.
Bai Hao withdrew his hand and covered the blue floral cloth.
The National Day holiday lasted seven days, including the Mid-Autumn Festival. Bai Hao was dragged out by Qin Nan every day to go out, eat mooncakes, listen to operas, watch shadow puppet shows, listen to storytelling, and see gardens.
Bai Hao was still full of energy every day, while Qin Nan took the last day to catch up on sleep. He just wanted to take Bai Hao out more and not let him stay at home like a couch potato. Who knew that Bai Hao would play like nothing had happened these past few days, while Qin Nan was exhausted and never wanted to take Bai Hao out again. He couldn't take it anymore!
Because of Qin Nan's guilt, the Totoro ate and drank well every day without any complaints and lived a very comfortable life.
After the holiday, the old town quieted down, and Qin Nan resumed his daily pig-raising life. After waking up from a nap, Qin Nan tinkered with his new phone. When he first bought it, he only tried out all the functions. Since he hadn't used chat tools for a long time, he only downloaded online shopping platform software.
Suddenly, he thought of downloading WeChat and QQ. He remembered his QQ account but forgot his password. Qin Nan was too lazy to retrieve it. Anyway, there was no one worth contacting. After starting university, Qin Nan stopped using QQ. He contacted his friends through WeChat after university. Before university, he only had two or three people he could call friends, and he had added them on WeChat.
Qin Nan had just logged into WeChat when the screen was filled with red dots. Since resigning and returning from Guodu, Qin Nan hadn't used WeChat again, so she hadn't left many groups.
This morning, with nothing much to do, Qin Nan left all the group chats except for the university dormitory group. Then she filtered her friends list, deleting all the people she didn't need to contact or those she didn't have a relationship with and didn't need to keep.
In the end, only twenty or thirty people remained. Qin Nan preferred to stay in the old house until she grew old rather than go back. There wouldn't be any trouble in the future, so she could get rid of the unnecessary relationships and just keep the people she could talk to.
After cleaning up, Qin Nan's WeChat was much emptier, and she saw messages from two of her friends.
Luo Lin, nicknamed Camel, was Qin Nan's dormitory head in college. He was a very responsible person and took good care of Qin Nan back then.
Luo Lin: Well done, Xiao Nan! You kept it a secret so well that none of our dorm mates knew. So you like guys! No wonder you didn't read any of the love letters you received from girls back then!
Luo Lin: By the way, I heard you left the capital? How is Grandpa Qin? Are you alright? I had nowhere to go, so I came to find you, brother!
One was from six days ago, and the other was from more than a month ago.
Qin Nan thought for a moment and replied: Grandpa is gone, I'm fine, I've gone back to my hometown and settled down, don't worry. Why would you say I like men?
After replying to the message, Qin Nan read another message. It was from a senior student named Zhao Qiuyan, from a different department at the same university.
She is cheerful and straightforward, and most importantly, extremely brave. Otherwise, a girl who chooses forensic medicine as her major would not be able to do it without courage.
Zhao Qiuyan: I heard you left the capital. Where are you going? Has Grandpa Qin already... passed away?
Zhao Qiuyan: You little rascal! I've been worried about you, and you didn't reply to my messages because you're in a relationship!!!
Qin Nan refreshed the screen several times, posting two sentences around the same time as Luo Lin, but in between, she sent an angry emoji every day.
Qin Nan had only mentioned his grandfather's situation to the two of them; he didn't want too many people to know.
Qin Nan smiled and replied: "Heroine, have mercy! I've gone back to my hometown and am busy finding a job. What are you talking about dating? I'm single!"
Qin Nan had just sent the message when Zhao Qiuyan immediately replied: Poor kid, where are you living in some back alley?! Want to see some short videos? I've got videos of you hugging a handsome guy on the street, and holding hands while shopping. Whatever you want, I'll send it to you! I've saved them all! Your boyfriend is so handsome!!!
Qin Nan: ? ? ? ? Video??
Then Qin Nan received many photos of him and Bai Hao clinging to each other tightly in the street because of the crowds, as well as videos of Qin Nan holding a book and feeling sad while Bai Hao comforted him, and videos of the two eating together and strolling around shopping together.
The problem is, apart from Bai Hao hugging him to comfort him, there were no other ambiguous actions in the photos and videos. It was just two guys shopping together. How could they be dating? Besides, there were so many people on the street at the time, and many of them were couples shopping together!
