Chapter 31 Entering the Dream as a Nightmare

Qin Nan walked along the road with her schoolbag on her back. The sky was gray, with dark clouds everywhere. The streetlights flickered on and off. Qin Nan walked expressionlessly, passing through the quiet alley and entering the bustling, brightly lit neighborhood.

However, everything in sight was black, white, and gray, including all kinds of people. Everyone had pale skin and wore pure black clothes. They all looked lost and dejected, yet normal.

Shops were open, pedestrians were talking, and cars were coming and going. Everything in the scene looked bustling and lively, but there wasn't a sound.

Everything was like a black and white silent film, but Qin Nan seemed to think this was normal. He walked through the crowd into a secluded street, headed towards a dilapidated neighborhood, and then went up to the third floor as if he knew the way. He took out his key from his pocket, opened the door to apartment 301, and an old man appeared inside.

The old man's head was tilted to one side, with a few stray hairs on his head. His eyes were mostly white, his mouth was split open, he had no teeth, and his face was pale. When he saw Qin Nan, he waved to him and invited him into the house. Then, he hunched over and went into the kitchen to cook.

Qin Nan went into the house, closed the door, put down her schoolbag, went into her bedroom, closed the bedroom door, turned on the light, lay on the bed, and stared blankly at the chandelier on the ceiling, like a puppet, stiff and lifeless.

Suddenly a strong wind blew, whistling through the branches and debris, rattling against the window without making a sound. But Qin Nan stiffly turned his head to look out the window, his eyes dark as he stared out the window.

After a while, the bedroom door opened, and the old man stood outside, staring at Qin Nan with only the whites of his eyes visible. Qin Nan got up and turned to look at the old man, who then turned and walked towards the dining table. Qin Nan also got up and walked out of the bedroom, sitting down opposite the old man.

There were four plates and a soup bowl on the table. On the plates were pale human hands and livers, and in the soup bowl were a dozen or so eyeballs rolling around.

The old man served Qin Nan a bowl of eyeballs, poured soup over them, and Qin Nan scooped one up with a spoon, put it in her mouth, chewed mechanically, and then swallowed it.

The old man watched Qin Nan eat with satisfaction. His mouth was split open, and inside it was pitch black, without even a tongue. He grabbed a human hand, stuffed it into his mouth, and swallowed it.

Qin Nan took a couple of bites, put down her chopsticks, got up, went back to her bedroom, and closed the door. The old man at the dining table stared at Qin Nan's bedroom door, smiled strangely, finished the rest of the food on the table, and then cleaned up the dishes.

Qin Nan returned to his bedroom and sat stiffly on the bed, facing the window. He was completely confused, remembering nothing, knowing nothing, not knowing what to do, where to go, or why he was there.

He didn't even know who the old man was. He just came here as if he had been led there by someone. He didn't need to think about anything, and he didn't think about anything. He just did things step by step.

The wind outside the window was strong, nearly snapping the trees, and Qin Nan just kept watching.

In a dilapidated six-story building, in a dark and gloomy room, Zhou Miao huddled in a corner. The familiar, messy room had a large teddy bear beside him, but unlike in his dream, this bear had turned gray.

Only one eye remained on the bear's front, and there were some black marks on its face. Zhou Miao knew that they were bloodstains. Behind the teddy bear, a very thin little boy was huddled.

The little boy was right next to Zhou Miao, his face pale and covered in wounds. Although all he could see was black, white, and gray, Zhou Miao knew that the black on the little boy's body was from wounds and bloodstains.

The little boy was pale and looked at Zhou Miao with great sadness, guilt, and pain. Zhou Miao looked at him for a long time, and slowly seemed to forget everything. He didn't remember who he was, who the child in front of him was, or why he was here.

Zhou Miao stared blankly at the little boy. The little boy wanted to cry, but he had no tears left; only black blood flowed from his eyes.

Bai Hao stood atop the tower in the Black and White City, overlooking the illusory dreamscape. After a long while, Bai Hao gazed in one direction, lightly leaping between buildings, finally stopping on a bus stop sign.

Not far away, a young man dressed in casual clothes was stumbling and running away, his colors standing out against the black and white background.

The boy who opened the door was Zhou Miao's roommate, Lü Zeqi. When Lü Zeqi came home, he saw that Zhou Miao's door was closed and he didn't know anyone was there. He happened to have bought some fruit to share with Zhou Miao. They were used to never knocking when they entered a room. However, when the door opened, a cloud of smoke came out, and then they arrived at this strange place.

He intended to wander around, but instead encountered a group of people who looked like zombies, baring their teeth and claws as they chased after him. Lu Zeqi was so frightened that he turned and ran. He didn't know how long he had been running, but he felt that his legs were almost numb.

But the group of pale-skinned, black-fingered, and seemingly invincible people with black liquid dripping from their mouths were relentlessly pursuing him, and Lü Zeqi had already unleashed his superhuman potential.

Lu Zeqi walked with heavy steps, panting heavily. He no longer had the energy to curse. He could still curse a few words at first, but now he just wanted to run. However, in the blink of an eye, Lu Zeqi stumbled and fell.

Lu Zeqi collapsed to the ground, dizzy and lightheaded. He could have held on a little longer, but this fall made it impossible for him to get up. Watching the people gradually approaching, Lu Zeqi gave up, lay on the ground, closed his eyes, and gasped for breath. So be it, there's no saving him now!

Lu Zeqi lay on the ground for a long time, feeling that his strength had been restored, but the scene he had imagined of climbing up and tearing him apart did not appear. Lu Zeqi opened his eyes and sat up. Not far away, a man in a trench coat was looking at him with his arms crossed. Behind the man was a group of corpses lying on the ground.

Lü Zeqi: "Phew—you, who are you?"
