Bai Hao carried Qin Nan, who looked embarrassed, over. Upon seeing this, Chi Wei ran to Bai Hao's side and tugged at Bai Hao's clothes.
Bai Hao: "Come with me."
Bai Hao carried Qin Nan, who also carried the flashlight, and walked ahead into the depths of the forest. Chi Wei saw that Bai Hao was walking quickly, so he let go of her and followed behind with small steps.
Of these people, Chi Wei liked An Bei the most, so he took An Bei's hand and followed her.
Anbei was also a little surprised, but he didn't refuse since the little boy was holding his hand so naturally. Chen Qiang looked at Chi Wei and pouted. He had never held his master's hand before!
Chi Wei, who was walking in front, seemed to sense something, turned around to look at Chen Qiang, took Chen Qiang's hand with his other hand, and then walked at the back like a family of three.
Wang Hua looked at Chi Wei with regret. She still liked children very much, but unfortunately, she was destined to never have one.
Qin Nan buried her head on Bai Hao's shoulder, secretly glancing at the people behind them, mainly at Chi Wei and the two people he was holding hands with.
Qin Nan took a few extra glances. An Bei was very casual, while Chen Qiang seemed a bit awkward, but he obediently held Chi Wei's hand. Looking at the three of them, Qin Nan felt that the atmosphere was strange, like... Zhou Miao and Lü Zeqi?!
No, no, no! He saw nothing and knew nothing!
As you descend the mountain path, the road becomes flat, and the air becomes damp and colder. The trees and grass become fewer, and the landscape gradually turns desolate, with the fog thinning out.
Anbei held a pendulum-like object in his hand, and as they entered the area, the ticking became faster and louder, sounding particularly clear in the empty and quiet night.
Qin Nan tightened her arms around Bai Hao's neck, feeling somewhat relieved to be in Bai Hao's arms. At least it wasn't so scary; if she was too frightened, she could simply close her eyes and bury her head in Bai Hao's shoulder.
Although Qin Nan had experienced some things before, it didn't mean he was immune; he still couldn't avoid being afraid.
As they walked, a bloody smell filled the air. Before long, Bai Hao stopped, and the people behind him also stopped side by side, staring in surprise ahead.
A dark, circular patch of land with a small altar in the center. On the altar are three empty memorial tablets, each adorned with white flowers. In front of the tablets is a small, empty incense burner. Around the altar are three large red coffins arranged in a triangle.
At this moment, the lids of all three coffins were open, and white mist was billowing out of them.
Qin Nan glanced at it, then shuddered and simply buried her head and closed her eyes.
"This is..." Qin Fang gasped.
"The Three Infant Coffins!" Tie Sheng continued in a hoarse voice, his voice trembling slightly, but not out of fear, but more like excitement.
Seeing the others' shocked expressions, Chi Wei, ever the curious one, tugged at An Bei's hand and asked, "Uncle, what is a triple coffin?"
Anbei snapped out of his daze upon hearing the sound, and looked down at Chi Wei with a wry smile, "Xiao Wei, it's better if you don't know about this."
Bai Hao: "One way to raise ghost children is to seal an unborn child, a newborn child, and a three-year-old child in coffins, affix talismans, and bury them alive. After forty-nine days, the coffins are dug up and arranged in this way. After the sacrifice, the unborn child is cut out of the mother's womb, the mother is burned, and the infant is buried back."
Then, for three consecutive days, blood was dripped onto the three coffins. A month later, the coffins were opened, and the three infant corpses were placed in a vat and sealed with a talisman. A week later, the three infant corpses merged into one, becoming a ghost infant.
The raised ghost infants are suppressed with consecrated Buddhist beads, then chains made of pure gold are fastened around their necks and limbs. They then become obedient and work to make money for their creator.
Chi Wei was stunned as he listened, and Chen Qiang beside him was no better off. At first, he was shocked because the whole scene was very strange, but after hearing Bai Hao's explanation, he was truly taken aback. This evil and crooked method was truly cruel!
After a moment of stunned silence, Chi Wei was filled with anger. "This is outrageous! This is murder for money!"
Anbei looked at Bai Hao speechlessly, then at Chi Wei.
Qin Nan whispered to Bai Hao, confirming Chi Wei's words: "It's murder for money! Burying someone alive, suffocating them in a coffin, and then using chains to enslave their corpse for profit—it's inhuman!"
Wang Hua, standing to the side, stared silently at the red coffin, his head bowed.
Zhao Cheng: "Creating a corpse must be very difficult, right?"
Tiesheng: "Dead bodies won't work, but raising them is easy."
Anbei sighed, "If you suffocate someone alive and then add a talisman, it will form a 'mother-child evil' in less than forty-nine days. Once the corpse is revived, there will be many more ways to destroy it."
Qin Nan clenched her fist and whispered in Bai Hao's ear, "What do we do next?"
Bai Hao felt the constant warmth on his neck and the soft whispers in his ear. His mind wandered a little, but when he heard Qin Nan's question, he came back to his senses. "It's up to the rest of you to handle things here."
"Hahaha, this thing is quite interesting. This old man's trip wasn't in vain!" Tie Sheng, his body hunched over, slowly walked towards the coffin on the left.
Qin Fang, holding the peachwood string, walked towards the coffin in the distance, while An Bei, clutching the talisman, walked to the right.
The others remained where they were, keeping an eye on the three while remaining vigilant about their surroundings.
Bai Hao: "Be careful of the molted skin inside the coffin."
Qin Nan carefully turned his head to look over. He was curious about how the three people were handling the coffin, and what Bai Hao meant by shedding skin.
The three people beside the coffin also approached it cautiously, each holding their own magical artifacts. Tie Sheng held a dark, glowing object that Qin Nan didn't recognize at all. Qin Fang used a red rope and copper coins, while An Bei had talismans wrapped around his hands.
As the three approached the coffin, the once quiet coffin suddenly began to shake, making a "creaking" sound. Dark red blood flowed from under the coffin, emitting a foul and fishy smell. Qin Nan lowered his head and stopped looking, but just listening to the noise behind him made him feel terrified.
"Woo-ah-" Suddenly, a mournful cry rang out. Qin Nan couldn't help but glance at it, and his face instantly turned pale. A skin-like thing clung to the side of the coffin, about the size of a child, with hair like a clump of weeds. The mournful cry echoed through the mountains and forests, with a faint echo.
Qin Nan felt very uneasy. She looked up at Bai Hao, who was still the same as always. Bai Hao felt Qin Nan's gaze, lowered his head and whispered in her ear, "Don't be afraid, it's okay."
A warm breeze blew into her ear. Qin Nan lowered her head, her face slightly flushed. Bai Hao's gentle comfort had been a bit too much. To calm herself down, Qin Nan couldn't help but glance at the coffin again.
Previously there was only one skin, but now there are three. Just as Bai Hao said, there are three children. Qin Nan is slowly improving her ability to accept it, but she still can't help trembling.
Moreover, there's another problem: it seems one woman is missing. However, according to what these people said before, that woman's body was probably burned clean.
Just as Qin Nan was thinking this, she leaned her head on Bai Hao's shoulder and turned around to look at Chi Wei and Chen Qiang, who were gathered behind her. Then she saw that there was a person standing behind Chi Wei and Chen Qiang. Qin Nan's pupils constricted.
Watch out behind you!
