A faint crescent moon, hidden in the deep blue night, reflects the fading mountains in the distance and the clear, calm lake nearby. The tranquil woods are dimly lit, and a girl sits by the lake, her slender figure with long, flowing hair, wearing a moon-white gauze dress and a delicate hair clip.
This painting from Qin Nan's memory suddenly appeared before his eyes. Except for the girl, everything else was exactly the same as his father's painting—Quiet Night.
However, after looking at it for a while, Qin Nan realized that it was not a modified painting, but a copy and re-creation.
Bai Hao pulled Qin Nan away with the crowd and found a corner seat to rest.
Qin Nan calmed herself down and turned to look at Bai Hao. "That painting is called 'Quiet Night.' The one hanging on the wall is a replica. My dad painted it, but someone bought it. The original doesn't have that girl in it."
Bai Hao: "Yes, I know."
Qin Nan: "Wang Zhe bought my dad's painting... and sold it after making copies?"
Bai Hao shook his head. "No, this matter is related to He Yan."
Qin Nan: "He bought it?"
Bai Hao: "His... friend's father bought it from your father. That person is called Wu Yaofeng. He has a son and a daughter. His daughter, Wu Yufei, is a painting genius, but she is seriously ill."
She loved your father's paintings, so she poured her heart and soul into creating one and exchanged it with Wu Yaofeng for this "Quiet Night."
Qin Nan was stunned. He only remembered that his father had accepted the man's gifts and given him the painting. He hadn't expected it to be an exchange.
Bai Hao: "Later, Wu Yufei copied this painting and painted herself in it. Wu Yaofeng died in an accident. Wu Yufei's condition worsened due to the shock, and she passed away not long after. Now only Wu Yufei's younger brother, Wu Yulin, is still alive."
Qin Nan: "Then how could He Yan do that?"
Bai Hao: "Wu Yufei had been kind to him, but He Yan couldn't save her. Before she died, Wu Yufei entrusted Wu Yulin to He Yan."
Wu Yulin sold this painting without telling Wu Yufei and He Yan, hoping to raise money for Wu Yufei's medical treatment. However, He Yan was unaware that the painting was a copy by Wu Yufei; he always believed it was an original work by Wu Yufei that had been stolen.
Qin Nan: "Then he..."
Bai Hao: "He's not stupid. He just trusted Wu Yulin, so he didn't suspect anything at first. Later he found out, but it was Wu Yufei who painted it, and it was her favorite painting, so he decided to take the painting back."
Qin Nan: "Hmm, so does that mean Wang Zhe is a fake master? Are all his paintings copied from other people's works?"
Bai Hao: "Yes, and because they sign confidentiality agreements with people when selling paintings, they are not allowed to tell the truth. If they breach the agreement, they have to pay more than ten times the amount in penalties. Those who sell paintings are forced to sell for money, so naturally no one will say anything."
Qin Nan remained silent for a long time. Bai Hao pulled him into his arms and gently kissed his forehead. "Let me take you to see some excitement!"
Bai Hao originally didn't plan to go, but Qin Nan was in such a low mood that he reluctantly decided to go for a walk in that noisy place.
Qin Nan looked completely bewildered. What was all the excitement about?
Bai Hao led Qin Nan to Hall 11. As soon as they arrived at the entrance, they saw that the door was blocked and there was a lot of noise inside. Qin Nan didn't really want to go and watch the commotion. She frowned and looked up at Bai Hao. It seemed that Bai Hao probably didn't like this kind of thing either. So, he was trying to distract himself and not make her feel so sad.
Bai Hao was about to frown at the noisy crowd, but with Qin Nan staring intently at him, he tried his best to remain expressionless.
"Pfft—hehe~" Qin Nan couldn't help but laugh. He really couldn't connect the silly Bai Hao he saw now with his usual self.
To be honest, Qin Nan has been calm for a long time now that her father has passed away. Her silence is not because of sadness, but more because of grief. However, it must have been difficult for Bai Hao.
Bai Hao tilted his head and looked at Qin Nan with a blank expression. He didn't know what Qin Nan was laughing at, nor did he know what Qin Nan was thinking. Could it be that what he was doing was wrong?
Qin Nan: "What happened inside?"
Bai Hao: "It's nothing, it's just that someone was hired to cause trouble."
Qin Nan thought about what Zhou Miao had said earlier, "Could it be Zhou Miao?"
Bai Hao chuckled and shook his head. "No, what he knows is something else, but the two things have collided, so it's even more chaotic now."
Qin Nan nodded. Although it sounded exciting, he wasn't really interested in going to watch; the excitement was rather boring.
Qin Nan: "Let's go see a movie. I haven't seen one in a long time. I remember there's one next to the amusement park."
Bai Hao smiled indulgently, "Okay."
Qin Nan smiled knowingly as he looked at Bai Hao's gentle face. The two of them leisurely left together, went to the entertainment area to watch a movie, and played some games. Qin Nan hadn't played games in a long time, but with Bai Hao accompanying him, he was eager to play as well.
So two people dressed in formal attire bent down and stood in front of the whack-a-mole machine, using cartoon hammers to "crack" and "bang" the little whack-a-mole. This scene was watched and filmed by many people with hearts in their eyes.
As night fell and the evening banquet began, the original first floor of the restaurant was completely renovated, creating a spectacular and grand scene.
Qin Nan and Bai Hao entered the venue. The right side was the stage and seating area, while the left side was a buffet dinner. Waiters greeted them and served them drinks. Qin Nan looked at the crowd and felt a little intimidated. He wasn't used to this kind of occasion. Bai Hao held his hand tightly and led him inside.
"Brother Qin, Brother Bai, over here!" Not far away, Lü Zeqi, holding a wine glass, put his arm around Zhou Miao's shoulder and waved to them.
Bai Hao thought for a moment, then took Qin Nan over and handed her over to the two of them. Qin Nan had just entered the room and had already seen He Yan, since his mask was too conspicuous. Qin Nan knew that Bai Hao was going to find He Yan, and since there were acquaintances around, she didn't feel too uncomfortable.
