This was the first time Li Cheng had seen Bai Hao's true face. When he came here to repair the house before, Bai Hao had been staying in the attic, so he hadn't seen him. He didn't expect Bai Hao to look so young.
However, the fact that Qin Nan had the financial means to buy the Qin residence and pay for its renovations meant that she must be someone of high status. He was initially a little worried and wondered how Qin Nan was doing.
He saw Qin Nan and Bai Hao on the street during the National Day holiday, but he didn't know Bai Hao's identity. Qin Nan looked very energetic, which reassured him.
This time, Qin Nan noticed that Bai Hao's face had gained some weight, a significant improvement from his previous gaunt appearance, which made her very fond of him.
Qin Nan made Li Cheng a cup of hot tea. The contract was already on the table next to Bai Hao, and Qin Nan knew that Bai Hao was going to take on the commission.
Qin Nan: "Uncle Li, what happened?"
Li Cheng drank a glass of water, and his expression softened a bit, but he still had a deep frown on his brow.
Li Cheng: "I took on a job before, which was to renovate an old building. It is said that when the building was being developed and constructed, a holdout household was forcibly evicted. As a result, when the building was built to the sixth floor, all six members of that family, young and old, jumped off the building and died!"
Then construction was halted for a period of time, and later it was suppressed for some reason. Then construction was resumed, and what was originally planned to be more than 20 stories was changed to a six-story roof.
It is said that a master was invited to take a look, who said that the six vengeful spirits were not going away and that the building could not be built, otherwise people would die. So the roof was completed and a ritual was performed.
However, two units of the house were later sold, and both resulted in fatalities. After that, the house remained vacant and was considered a haunted house. But too many people didn't believe in superstitions and insisted on going there, calling it an adventure and saying that ghosts and gods were all fake. As a result, accidents kept happening there.
Later, the police sent people to guard the area overnight, but nothing happened. However, protective fences were added to the area. The families of the two households involved refused to take possession of the houses, so the building remains vacant. Due to the events that have occurred, it is currently under the temporary management of the court and cannot be sold freely.
Qin Nan was somewhat impressed; how could they dare to take on a house deal like this?
Li Cheng sighed: "I also had concerns, so I explained the situation to the workers. They were also unwilling, but the person who came was willing to pay 1,000 yuan per person per day to do some simple renovations on the six floors and twelve households, and we didn't need to worry about the rest."
If you have any concerns, you can invite a master to perform the ritual. The work is only done during the day; they leave immediately after sunset, and stop immediately if it's cloudy or rainy, resuming only when the weather clears. To show our sincerity, we've even prepaid seven days' wages.
Bai Hao said calmly, "You did not follow his instructions."
Li Cheng was somewhat annoyed: "This place is so dangerous, so we naturally obeyed the rules. After working for a few days and finding nothing wrong, everyone left early on time. After all, we were still afraid. Later, an old worker accidentally sprained his ankle, but he couldn't bear to give up the job, so he asked his son to take his place."
That kid grew up here, he's practically my son. He's learned a lot of skills, so I'm at ease with him. His dad and I have repeatedly told him not to stay too long, and that no matter what happens after the sun sets, he can't go back.
But that day, he didn't know he'd left something behind and insisted on going back to get it. His coworkers tried to stop him, but he somehow managed to run back anyway, shouting that he didn't believe in any of that superstitious stuff.
Qin Nan: "He...he's dead?"
Li Cheng wiped his face, his eyes reddening, and he looked much older: "No, but the person has gone mad."
Qin Nan: "Are you crazy?"
Bai Hao: "If you're not dead, there's still hope."
Li Cheng suddenly looked up at Bai Hao, "Can you make him normal again?"
Bai Hao: "Yes, he only lost part of his soul. Once it's recovered, he'll be normal."
Li Cheng nodded: "I had someone look into it, and they said the same thing, but they tried to call back the soul, but it didn't work."
Bai Hao: "His soul is trapped, so naturally he can't come back."
Li Cheng: "Can Boss Bai be saved?"
Bai Hao picked up the contract, and Qin Nan knowingly took it and handed it to Li Cheng. Li Cheng glanced at the contract, and his hand trembled slightly as if he saw something, but he quickly picked up the pen clipped to the contract and signed it. Qin Nan was very puzzled, but Bai Hao got up and took the contract away.
Li Cheng: "Then, when are we going?"
Bai Hao: "He has been insane for sixteen days. We just need to find his soul within twenty-one days."
Li Cheng nodded, clutching the contract he had left behind tightly in his hand: "What you said, is it true?"
Bai Hao: "Don't you know how many people have died there?"
Li Cheng nodded, then left with a worried expression. Qin Nan saw Li Cheng off and returned to the front hall, where Bai Hao was putting contracts into the cabinet. Qin Nan stared at Bai Hao in silence.
Bai Hao paused what he was doing and beckoned Qin Nan over. Qin Nan walked over curiously and saw that there were hidden compartments in the cabinet where he kept small blankets and towels, containing four or five stacks of contracts.
Qin Nan stood there, stunned, staring at Bai Hao in disbelief. When did he put it there? When did a hidden compartment appear here?
Bai Hao coughed lightly: "I thought you knew, so it's okay to look around."
Upon hearing this, Qin Nan raised an eyebrow, took the contract from Bai Hao's hand, and flipped through it. Then he understood why Li Cheng was surprised. The contract described the cause and effect of this matter, as if it had been prepared in advance, but Li Cheng only arrived today. Therefore, Li Cheng was surprised by Bai Hao's ability and thought he was a master.
Qin Nan saw the amount on the contract again and almost choked on her own saliva. A five-figure price? Is it real?
