Chapter 98 Diary of a Lost Soul

Qin Nan sensed someone chasing him from behind, and his only thought was to run. He turned several corners but still couldn't shake off the villager behind him. Just when Qin Nan was about to despair, he passed by a house and was pulled into the house by someone who gagged him and pressed him down on the table.

Qin Nan instinctively resisted, only to discover that the person holding him down was the very person he had been searching for—Luo Lin.

Qin Nan's eyes widened. The person in front of him was indeed Luo Lin, but with his medium-length hair, ancient costume, and extremely unfamiliar gaze, Qin Nan had some doubts.

Hearing Bai Hao's footsteps leaving outside, Luo Lin slowly released Qin Nan.

Luo Lin: "Who are you, and why are you here?"

Luo Lin released his grip but drew a dagger from his waist and held it to Qin Nan's neck.

Qin Nan: "Luo Lin, it's me, Qin Nan. Don't you remember me? I'm here to find you. You told me you came here and that you've forgotten a lot of things."

Qin Nan stiffened his neck, staring at the gleaming blade, and hurriedly explained.

Luo Lin was taken aback upon hearing this. He looked Qin Nan over and slowly sheathed his dagger. He didn't remember Qin Nan, but there was something only he knew: he had truly forgotten many things.

At first, he thought it was just his imagination, but later he secretly kept a diary and realized that something was wrong with him. But there was nothing he could do. He couldn't remember anything, and he couldn't leave this place. He even managed to keep his name from being completely forgotten by secretly carving it on his bedside every day.

Luo Lin: "I don't remember you, but I have indeed forgotten a lot of things."

Qin Nan took out his phone from his pocket, opened WeChat, and showed Luo Lin their chat history. Luo Lin looked at the thing in Qin Nan's hand in surprise. It felt familiar, but he didn't seem to recognize what it was. However, he had something similar himself, but he didn't know how to use it.

Luo Lin looked at what he had said and had no recollection of it. He returned the phone to Qin Nan, went into the inner room and rummaged around for a while, then took out a phone and handed it to Qin Nan.

Luo Lin: "This seems to be my stuff, but I don't remember it and I don't know how to use it."

Qin Nan took the phone and pressed the power button, but there was no response. He figured it was out of power. He took out his own charging cable to compare, and luckily the interfaces matched. He then found a socket in the room to charge the phone, and after charging it and turning it on, the screen appeared.

However, unlocking the phone still requires a password. Qin Nan glanced at Luo Lin, who looked completely bewildered, and didn't expect to get any answers from asking him.

Qin Nan tried Luo Lin's birthday, student ID number, and national ID number one by one, but none of them worked. Finally, Qin Nan remembered their dormitory room number—Dormitory Building No. 10, Room 6, 5th Floor. The password was correct, and the phone was unlocked.

Qin Nan opened Luo Lin's WeChat and found that he had sent messages to multiple people, but strangely, only Qin Nan's message was successfully sent, while the others' messages showed red exclamation marks.

He handed the phone to Luo Lin, who stared at the contents of the phone in deep thought. After a long while, he looked up, his eyes still filled with confusion, and he couldn't recall anything at all.

Qin Nan took back Luo Lin's phone. He remembered that Luo Lin used to like writing memos, so he opened the memo app on the phone. Sure enough, there were many diary entries inside. Qin Nan scrolled to the bottom, and the earliest memo he kept was written a week before Luo Lin came to Liu Village.

Qin Nan pulled Luo Lin over to examine the situation together.

——

It's sunny today. It's the eleventh day since I left home. I failed my job interview today, but I received a strange email. The sender was blank, and the email content was an address—a village that can't even be found on a map.

There was also a photo in the email. For some reason, the scenery in the photo looked very familiar, but I was sure I had never seen it before. Oh well, I don't have time to worry about it. I should focus on finding a job first.

——

It's sunny today. Last night I had a dream, a very long dream. I dreamt of the village in the photo, and I seemed to have become a different person. Someone kept calling out to me, but I don't remember what they said. I guess it's because I've been thinking about it during the day that I dreamt about it at night. I'm not feeling well today, but I actually passed the interview. As long as I pass the second interview, I can start working.

——

It's been drizzling for four days now. I've been having the same dream every night, and I can finally vaguely remember what it was about. I was like an ancient person, dressed in wedding clothes, getting married. I couldn't see the people at the wedding banquet or the people sitting in the high hall.

Even though I managed to get into the bridal chamber intermittently, I could never get past the bride on the bed and see her face. I was a little bothered by this.

I don't know why, but I miss the bride so much. Every time I enter the bridal chamber, I feel heartache, guilt, and a little regret. That feeling is so real that I can't shake it off even after I wake up.

——

It's cloudy today. My physical condition is getting worse and worse. The scene in my dream has changed, but it's still about a wedding. I'm still the groom, but the guests and the bridal chamber have changed. It's no longer the Willow Village, but a magnificent courtyard. After toasting the guests, I lingered in front of the bridal chamber but was reluctant to go in.

After three consecutive days of dreams, I finally pushed open that door, but when I entered, my heart ached terribly. I struggled to wake up from the dream, covered in cold sweat and tears streaming down my face. But I don't know why, I felt I had to go to Willow Village.

——

When I arrived in the town, there were very few people, which felt a bit eerie. But for some reason, I stopped having strange dreams and instead felt a sense of familiarity and peace.

I'm sure I've never been here before. I'm going into the village tomorrow. Only the old man at the funeral shop gave me directions. I'll have to walk there tomorrow, so I need to prepare my things.

——

I walked for a long time, and it seemed like I was lost, but there was always a road to follow. I finally arrived at Liu Village. There weren't many people in the village, mostly elderly people and children. It seemed that the young people had all gone out to work.
