Before Qin Nan could go up to the attic after finishing her meal, Bai Hao had already come in, washed his hands, and sat down to eat.
For lunch today, I made braised pork ribs, cold pig's ear salad, stir-fried pork with celery, dry-fried green beans, hot and sour shredded potatoes, and stir-fried shrimp with chives.
Qin Nan initially wanted to try different dishes every day to see what Bai Hao liked to eat, but later realized that it wasn't necessary. Although he didn't particularly like vegetarian dishes, he would eat them as long as they were made, though he would frown slightly while eating them.
Qin Nan smiled as he watched Bai Hao eat with childlike contentment. He found it quite comfortable to be around Bai Hao.
Bai Hao didn't like to talk, and after finishing his meal, he would continue to stay in the attic.
After packing her things, Qin Nan went to the front hall. Everyone was eating in the living room. The midday sun was particularly glaring, and the temperature had risen considerably. The ceiling fans in the living room had all been cleaned. Qin Nan turned on both ceiling fans and took out a new standing fan that she had bought in the backyard.
"Thank you, Brother Qin!"
Several workers who had met Qin Nan before greeted him. Qin Nan had the appearance of a gentle scholar, and he was particularly kind-looking and always had a smile on his face. He had even come to turn on the fan, so everyone had a very good impression of him.
"It's nothing, thank you all for your hard work!" Qin Nan said with a smile.
Actually, the front yard has been almost completely cleaned up, but there are various things that need to be inspected and improved that are difficult to handle. However, it does not affect the reception of customers.
So there's no rush. As long as the heating pipes and water pipes are all in good working order before winter, that's fine. At least there shouldn't be any problems with heating or daily life during the winter.
Qin Nan didn't rest at noon. She took cleaning tools and cleaned up the first floor of the warehouse. She also sorted out some old books and clothes and took them out to air in the yard.
I also cleaned up some of my father's paintings and a lot of other miscellaneous items.
Qin Nan also dug out many of her childhood toys, which were well preserved in a small suitcase.
Around 2 or 3 pm, the workers in the front yard started getting busy again. Qin Nan thought about it and remembered that when she bought fruits and vegetables before, she asked the store for their contact information. If she wanted a large quantity, they could deliver to her door. So Qin Nan ordered ten chilled watermelons.
After placing the order, Qin Nan boiled two kettles of water, quickly washed herself, and even washed her hair, as there was too much dust from cleaning, which felt uncomfortable on her body.
Qin Nan changed her clothes: a simple T-shirt, light blue jeans, and blue and white sneakers.
Qin Nan had just finished blow-drying her hair when she received a call that a watermelon had been delivered. Qin Nan hurried to the front yard and told Li Cheng about it. Li Cheng said it was a bit formal, but he seemed very happy. It was a small gift but a big sentiment!
Li Cheng led the group to share the watermelon, and then three more people arrived at the front of the house.
"Hello, who are you?" Qin Nan asked politely as she looked at the people who had come in from the doorway.
"Hello, is Mr. Bai Hao here? His suit has been delivered, and we also need to take the measurements of another gentleman," one of the ladies said, stepping forward.
"Oh, come with me." Qin Nan beckoned the three of them to walk towards the backyard.
The group entered the backyard, where Bai Hao had just come out of the warehouse.
"Boss, they..." Qin Nan looked at Bai Hao, wanting to explain.
“I know, it’s custom-made for him: two white sets, one black set, and one blue set,” Bai Hao said to the person who came.
"Okay, Mr. Bai, please take a look at your suit. If there's a problem, we'll remake it for you!" The waiter waved to the person behind him who was carrying five suits.
Everyone entered the room. Bai Hao looked at the custom-made clothes, made sure there were no problems, and then threw them onto the sofa.
Qin Nan was being measured with a soft measuring tape in a daze. Qin Nan was a little shorter and thinner than Bai Hao, but her skin was even whiter than Bai Hao's, which must be due to her naturally fair skin.
The waiter took Qin Nan's measurements and told her that the clothes would be delivered in about three to five days. After seeing the three people off, Qin Nan finished eating the watermelon in the front yard and got back to work.
When Qin Nan returned to the backyard, Bai Hao was gone again. She had originally wanted to ask why he had ordered suits for him, but now she could only silently take the five black suits from the sofa upstairs and hang them neatly in Bai Hao's wardrobe.
Bai Hao didn't have many clothes, only two or three shirts, a trench coat, two black short-sleeved shirts, and two pairs of trousers. If Qin Nan wasn't mistaken, she didn't even see his underwear.
Qin Nan had just gone downstairs when she received another call; some of the furniture she had ordered had arrived.
Bai Hao's room and his room only had a small wardrobe, a bed and a table, which was too empty, so Qin Nan ordered some furniture and decorations to fill the room, such as a bedside table, a small bookshelf, and some potted plants.
After a busy afternoon, as night fell, Qin Nan saw Li Cheng and the others off, closed the door, checked the electrical switches in the front hall to make sure everything was okay, and went back to the backyard to wash her hands and cook. Bai Hao was sitting on the sofa with his unfinished notes in his arms.
Qin Nan stared blankly at Bai Hao. Under the dim light of the desk lamp, Bai Hao casually leaned back on the sofa, crossed one leg, and looked down attentively as he flipped through the pages. His slender fingers pressed on the pages, creating a pleasing and warm scene.
Qin Nan smiled, turned on the main light, and went into the kitchen to wash her hands and cook.
After dinner, the Totoro happily played in its little villa, while Bai Hao finished reading a notebook and casually put it in the bookshelf in the living room.
The living room's display shelves were filled with ornaments Qin Nan had found in the warehouse, and the display shelves and empty coffee table in the front yard's reception area were also filled with many decorations.
The things were just there originally; they were only put away when the house was rented. Now that they've been tidied up, the whole house is much fuller than it was before. Only the third floor hasn't been cleaned yet. Qin Nan didn't clean it, and Bai Hao didn't ask.
Qin Nan cleared away the dishes and boiled some water for Bai Hao to take a bath. The water heater at home was broken and hadn't been repaired yet. It wouldn't be usable until tomorrow when Li Cheng brought people to clean the backyard and inspect the equipment. So for the time being, they could only boil water in a kettle. Fortunately, the weather wasn't cold, so they didn't need to boil too much hot water.
Bai Hao watched Qin Nan bustling about in the kitchen and bathroom, his eyes conveying an unreadable meaning, while the corners of his mouth turned up in a smile.
"Alright, go take a shower first. There must be a lot of dust in the attic when we cleaned it." Qin Nan prepared the bathwater, pulled Bai Hao into the bathroom, and closed the door.
Bath towels and other items were prepared, but Qin Nan still needed to boil some water. Fortunately, there were more than a dozen thermos flasks at home, which were used to solve the problem of bathing when there were many people in the family.
Bai Hao tested the water temperature; it was just right, neither too cold nor too hot. Actually, he could use cold water without any problem; it was all the same to him. However…
Bai Hao smiled, took off his clothes and went in to take a shower. While washing his hair, Bai Hao saw two different scented shampoos. One was the one Qin Nan had used that afternoon, and the other smelled nice too.
After thinking about it, he decided to use the one that Qin Nan hadn't used before.
