Lu Huai carried her in his arms and swaggered past all the servants of Qi Huai Courtyard to the bathhouse.
"Put me down!" she said through gritted teeth, punching his chest twice in anger.
Lu Huai placed her on the edge of the bathtub and only let go of her hands after making sure she was steady. He frowned, looking troubled: "You seem to have gained quite a bit of weight."
Qin Qi glared at him, feeling both annoyed and embarrassed: "Shut up!"
Seeing her baring her teeth and brandishing her claws like a mad little lion, Lu Huai patted her head soothingly: "I'll go and get someone to fetch you some water."
The bathhouse was a restricted area, so servants were not allowed to enter. Bao Bao and Lele each carried two buckets of water, making several trips back and forth before they could fill the tubs.
Qin Xi looked at the flower petals floating in the bathtub, a little embarrassed: "Who put these in?"
Bao Bao curtsied to her, her tone cheerful: "Replying to Miss, this was sprinkled by the young master himself. He said that bathing in these flower petals is not only refreshing, but also prevents bees and butterflies from getting in the way."
After saying that, she added with emotion, "Your son-in-law really cares about you; he even carefully selected the flower petals for your bath."
Qin Qi: "...o(╯□╰)o!"
Lele gave her a reproachful look: "Shut up."
Bao Bao made a funny face, and the two of them bowed and took their leave.
After removing the elaborate clothes she wore to the banquet, Qin Xi stretched out her feet to test the water temperature before stepping into the bathtub and sitting down.
With a satisfied sigh, Qin Qi relaxed her brows and eyes, all the fatigue of the day vanishing in an instant.
Leaning comfortably against the edge of the bathtub, Qin Qi closed her eyes. She reached into the tub and felt around, but couldn't find the water ladle. She figured her bag had been careless again.
"Lele, bring in a water ladle." She called out, her eyes closed and her hand resting on the edge of the bathtub.
"Creak—" The wooden door behind the screen was slowly pushed open, and Qin Xi leaned against it without any warning.
A familiar voice came from behind, though the person seemed a little timid: "Miss, this water ladle..."
"Sprinkle water on me," Qin Xi said without thinking much of it, taking it as her asking for her opinion.
"yes……"
The door was closed again. The person behind her walked to the bathtub, remained silent for a long time, and then reached out to scoop water from the tub and slowly poured it onto her back.
"Let's give the front a rinse too." Qin Qi said casually, tilting her head back so that "Lele" could rinse her off.
Water was poured over her and then flowed into the bucket, making a "splashing" sound.
Lele's breathing grew heavier, and the gaze fixed on her became even more intense, as if it wanted to burn a hole through her.
"How could you..." Qin Qi frowned uncomfortably, slowly opened her eyes, but suddenly froze halfway through, her eyes widening in surprise.
The person who washed her wasn't Lele, but that scoundrel Lu Huai!
He held a water ladle in his hand, his eyes were dark, and his gaze was fixed on...
Qin Qi followed his gaze and suddenly her face turned bright red. This lecherous man was actually looking at her…
She quickly sank to the bottom of the water, crossed her arms in front of her, and her face was burning hot, as if she could cook an egg: "How...how is it you?"
Lu Huai then raised his eyes and looked at her flushed cheeks: "Your husband will serve you, my wife."
His tone rose slightly at the end, and he slowed down his speech when saying the last two words, as if he wanted her to hear him clearly.
Qin Xi blushed to the roots of her neck, and lowered her head, not daring to look at him: "I don't need to be served... You, you can leave now..."
She held her hands tightly to her chest, yet the beauty of spring still lingered, reminiscent of the phrase "holding a pipa, half-concealing her face." Lu Huai's breathing grew heavier.
