Upon hearing this, Princess Shanlai's eyes showed some panic. "He doesn't know Young Master Lu."
Lu Huai nodded knowingly, "I see."
Qin Xi looked at the two of them with a puzzled expression, feeling that something was amiss.
Could it be an old acquaintance?
“If it weren’t for the mention of hairpins, I would have almost forgotten the important matter,” Princess Shanlai said, as if she had remembered something. She bent down, took a box from the stool next to her, and opened it.
"Today I saw a set of jewelry at the Napu Jewelry Shop. I didn't really like it, but I haven't left the mansion in a long time, and I was thinking I should buy something," she paused, then continued, "When I went to pick it up just now, the shop assistant told me that you liked it very much, so I'll give it to you as a gift."
As she spoke, she was about to push the jewelry in front of Qin Xi.
Qin Xi hadn't expected that Princess Shanlai had summoned them for this matter. He quickly held up the box and refused, saying, "Princess, this is absolutely unacceptable. As the saying goes, a gentleman does not take what others cherish, especially since you took a liking to this first. I certainly cannot accept it."
Princess Shanlai smiled and shook her head. "This is not to take what I like, but simply a gift. I am very happy to meet you today, and we can be considered friends. Consider this a gift for our meeting. Please don't call me Princess anymore, just call me Shanlai."
"But..." Qin Xi wanted to say something more, but Lu Huai stopped her.
“Ah,” Lu Huai looked at Princess Shanlai and said, “Since it is a gift from the princess, then I shall respectfully accept it.”
Qin Xi reached under the table and pinched Lu Huai.
"hiss--"
Lu Huai looked at Qin Xi, only to be glared at by her.
Qin Xi saw him wink at her, and then her hand was grasped.
Although Lu Huai's grip was not tight, Qin Xi could not break free.
She pouted, frowned, and looked at him with displeasure.
Princess Shanlai watched the two flirting, her eyes full of amusement. She couldn't help but cough a few more times.
"Cough cough cough, cough cough."
Qin Qi frowned. "Princess, are you alright?"
Princess Shanlai raised her head and wiped her mouth with a handkerchief: "I'm fine, I've just been out for a while. Don't call me princess anymore, it's too formal."
She glanced at the closed window and said with a smile, "I'm very happy to see you all today. But I'm not feeling well, so I should go back home."
Qin Qi nodded in understanding: "In that case, thank you very much, Shan Lai."
Princess Shanlai smiled and nodded.
Lu Huai carried the box, and the three of them went downstairs together.
Before parting, Princess Shanlai held Qin Xi's hands and said to her, "If you have time, please come to my residence often. I cough cough, I am alone at home and rarely go out, so I am really bored."
Princess Shanlai's hands were icy cold, even her palms were cold. Qin Xihui grasped hers and nodded: "Definitely."
"Then I shall take my leave." Princess Shanlai smiled and let her maid put the fox fur hat on her head.
Qin Xi nodded.
Only after Princess Shanlai disappeared into the crowd did Qin Xi turn her gaze away and look at the people beside her.
But Lu Huai lowered his head and remained silent. Qin Xi poked his cheek and asked, "What are you thinking about?"
Lu Huai snapped out of his reverie and didn't answer her question. Instead, he raised an eyebrow: "Well done, Qin Xi, you dare to poke me now."
Taking advantage of the fact that he had both hands occupied, Qin Xi reached out and pinched his cheeks, making a face: "I dare to pinch you too."
Lu Huai narrowed his eyes, placed the box in one hand, and tried to grab Qin Xi, but she avoided him.
"Stop right there!"
"No way!" Qin Xi stuck out her tongue playfully, turned around, and jogged away.
Lu Huai followed behind her at a leisurely pace.
The two of them played around like that for a while before buying some new clothes and shoes and returning home.
